Chapter 21: A Farce
Chapter 21: A Farce
I raised my voice, drowning his out, and said, "Are you resorting to physical violence? You must be
feeling guilty!"
May startled me by suddenly sitting down on the floor. She started slapping her thigh as she wailed,
"Oh my God, how can a man like this exist? Leonard Nell, don't you remember all the promises you
made when you slept with me?"
The security guards seemed to have been stunned by May. They hesitated, afraid to grab her.
"Let's ask everyone for their opinion!" I took the opportunity to turn and look at the guests. "Do you
think my sister should marry a man like this?!"
Offstage, the guests were whispering among themselves.
"It's normal to have some fun on the side, but Leonard's gone overboard this time."
"How could he have not used a condom when having a fling? What an inexperienced greenhorn."
"He's rich, though! Isn't the bride marrying him for the Nell family's money anyway?"
...
I lowered my head and smirked.
Soon enough, this wedding would turn into an absolute farce. The delight that Phoebe had felt as she
walked into this banquet hall before now turned into big humiliation.
However, it was still not enough.
I turned around and said frantically, "Phoebe, come with me! This marriage isn't worth your time and
effort!"
Phoebe was trembling all over like she was having Parkinson's. "You..."
She was probably fuming, wasn't she? I was secretly delighted, but I had to continue looking indignant.
"Come on!"
Phoebe shrieked, "Get the f*ck out of here, you b*tch! Get out!"
Under the lights, it was obvious that Phoebe's face was crimson with rage. Even her makeup could not
conceal it.
I put on an injured look and held a hand to my chest. "Phoebe, don't you see that I'm doing this for your
own good?" I pointed at Leonard. "What do you see in a scumbag like him? You even dumped your
longtime boyfriend for him! Was it worth it?"
"Queena Jones!"
Phoebe let out an ear-piercing shriek.
I could clearly see the tears welling up in her eyes.
The guests were hanging on my every word with excitement.
"I didn't expect the rumor about her ex-boyfriend to be true!"
"Looks like Miss. Jones also has a more complicated past than expected."
I watched as the blood drained from Phoebe's face.
She never would have imagined that I would use such a method to expose her past to the public.
From this day onwards, the Jones family would be nothing more than a laughingstock.
If Bell had known that things would turn out this way, what would he have thought?
I was so pleased with myself that I wanted to turn around to see the look on Bell's face. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
However, I met Leonard's gaze mid-turn.
His eyes were so dark that they were almost black, and the fury in them was obvious. It made me feel
like he could burn me to ashes with a single look.
My heart jolted and I averted my gaze, not wanting him to see how much he intimidated me.
"That's enough."
Leonard's cold voice rang out next to me. "Guards, escort Queena and this crazy woman out."
"Yes, Mr. Nell."
The security guards bowed at him and started to walk towards us.
I grabbed May and took two steps back, standing at the edge of the stage.
It seemed that Leonard had finally realized that keeping us here would only create more fodder for
gossip for everyone present.
However, was this enough?
To me, absolutely not!
I pursed my lips and put my hands behind my back, holding on to something in my pocket.
The security guards inched closer to us. May held onto me tightly, completely hidden behind me.
"Please come with us, miss. Both of you,"
the security guards said toughly as they stopped in front of me.
"Come with you? Sure," I said lightly while slowly moving my hands to the front. "However... I have one
more gift for you."
When he heard the word "gift", Leonard's expression changed and he roared, "Stop her!"
Unfortunately, he was too late.
I raised my hand without hesitation and swung my arm with all my might!
