Chapter 38 Are You Angry From Embarrassment?
Chapter 38 Are You Angry From Embarrassment?
The following day.
Theo came knocking on the door at nine o'clock in the morning. Everyone was ready to go.
Meanwhile, Lacey was extremely sleepy at the time. She covered her head with the blanket as she
heard the knockings.
Sam, who had been hiding in her room the night before, terrified her. As a result, she took Theo to a
restaurant for two hours, not wanting to go back.
It was around three o'clock in the morning when she returned. As a result, she hadn't gotten enough
sleep.
"Lacey! Lacey! Get up!" The doorbell rang along with his voice.
"Ah!" Lacey grumbled as she fought her way up through the sheets. She was exhausted.
"Ding dong! Ding dong!" Kept urging the doorbell. How annoying!
Irritated, Lacey lifted the covers and got out of bed on her bare feet. She walked over to the door and
opened it with a "swoosh."
"Can't you be quiet for a second?" Her tone was dissatisfied. Her hair was a mess as she glared at the
perpetrator.
Theo couldn't help but chuckle. "Lacey, you look adorable."
Lacey let out a helpless sigh and went back to her room.
"Lacey, hurry up and get ready. Everyone's waiting for you!" He followed suit. "I've got a swimsuit ready
for you. I even prepared a swimming ring!"
Lacey walked feebly to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. It was obvious that she was depleted.
"Today is going to be an adventure! There's an island in this region of the sea. It's a bit far away, but it's
ecologically sound. We'll do some research and see if it's a good investment." Theo grinned as he went
on to say, "Those who are joining us today are very interested in learning more about that remote
island. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. You should look around afterward, too. There are lots of
lovely animals on the island!"
Amid his excitement, Lacey had done brushing her teeth and washing her face.
Meanwhile, Theo continued to speak, not feeling thirsty at all.
"Get out." She then looked at him and gave the order.
"Huh?" Lacey's abrupt order stunned Theo just as he was getting hyped up.
"I'm going to change!" She stared down at herself helplessly. "You can't let me go sailing with you in my
nightgown, can you?" She sighed.
"Oh! I'll be waiting for you at the door!" Theo hurried out with a happy face.
Half an hour later—
As they reached the beach, she noticed a group of women gossiping.
They were most likely complaining about how slow she was.
Lacey ignored them. She knew those women. They had played truth or wine the night before and tried
to make her a fool.
In all, three yachts had taken to the water.
She was at a loss for words as a single yacht might have accommodated everyone. However, these
wealthy decided to make use of three.
Nonetheless, it was not her money that was spent. As a result, she felt no remorse.
Lacey then noticed two other yachts, each with two groups of people on board.
And as soon as they saw her, their faces and eyes were filled with disgust.
Shrugged, Lacey boarded the other empty yacht.
Theo followed close behind her.
Just as they sat down, a cheer came from the distance.
"Lillianna! Lillianna! Come on over!" The one who spoke was Evie. She was dressed in a bikini with an
LV shawl and sunglasses, showing off as much as she could.
Of course, the same went for other women.
They were clothed in designer labels, and alluring bikinis concealed expensive prosthetics. All with a
smug look on their faces.
Lacey tugged her coat a little more. Although it was not particularly cold outside, the coat did provide
some protection from the sun.
"Sorry, we're late." Lillianna smiled as she hurried over. She felt a deep sense of embarrassment.
"It's okay. We've just arrived. Come on up." Evie waved her hand.
Thereupon, Lillianna rushed over to the yacht where Evie was.
Just then, "Sam!" Lacey yelled as she rose from her seat. Her eyes fixed at Sam, who was wearing
sunglasses, unable to discern his emotion. With a chuckle and a clear voice, she asked, "Sam, why
don't we sit together?"
Her invitation was far too sudden.
Everyone was taken aback as a result.
Subconsciously, the crowd was drawn to her.
Lillianna, too, was perplexed. She frowned as she shifted her gaze from Sam to Lacey.
Meanwhile, Sam remained silent. He slowly removed his sunglasses, and a cold glint flashed across
his clear starry eyes. Before anyone returned to their senses, he headed over to the yacht Lacey was
on.
Once again, the crowd was bewildered.
"Come sit with us, Lillianna. We're a family. There's no need to be a stranger!" Lacey's giggle was as
crisp as that of a bird. But to Lillianna, it sounded as if she was showing off.
Lillianna couldn't help but clutch her dress tighter. Still, shortly after, she walked over with a smile.
"Mr. Garrison, let's see who gets there first!" Someone shouted, and one of the yachts set off.
The other yacht waited no longer and soon sailed away as well.
"It's a beautiful day." Lacey looked at Theo with a faint smile.
Theo frowned as he stared up at the overcasting sky. How could this possibly be a beautiful day?
Sam, on the other hand, put his sunglasses back on and looked the other way. No one knew what was
on his mind.
Lillianna took the seat across from them. Her frown had not eased since she boarded the yacht.
She couldn't figure out why Sam had accepted Lacey's invitation.
Wasn't he supposed to despise her?
On board the yacht, each four had something up their minds.
After two hours of sailing, they finally reached the enormous remote island.
In fact, there had been no development on the island yet. Mainly because it was costly.
Furthermore, the island flooded quicker than the Maldives every year due to rising sea levels, causing
many investors to flinch.
Then again, the island was located not far from the Xeoct Hills Hotel. It could be opened up for
exploration, leading to a new source of income.
Lacey couldn't hold it in any longer and vomited as she got off the yacht.
"Are you all right, Lacey?" Theo couldn't help but smile bitterly. Not only had Lacey gotten airsick, but
she'd gotten seasick too!".
Although Lacey had vomited profusely, she smiled and assured him that everything was fine.
In truth, she was cursing deep down. If she had known this would happen, she wouldn't have come!
Everyone was excited as they stepped off the yacht.
"Wow, it's so beautiful here." Evie and the other women started taking pictures.
The men, too, were enthusiastic. "Let's go around to explore. We'll return later to eat!" Someone made
a suggestion.
There didn't appear to be any objections.
Uncle Semaj took the lead right away.
He was the most experienced person in this marine region, and it would be far preferable to follow him. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Eventually, everyone followed in his footsteps and entered the isolated island.
A half-hour had passed.
And the crowd's nervousness dissipated with time.
Aside from a couple of snakes, they didn't come across any twists or turns. Well, except for a few
birds.
Soon, the crowd grew tired and demanded a break.
"I'm exhausted. Exploration is pointless." Evie, full of complaints, sat next to her wealthy boyfriend.
"Even if I'm offered a hundred million dollars to film here, I'm not coming!" Heidi was dissatisfied with
the place as well.
"Let us take a break and eat something to recharge our batteries. We'll continue after that." Uncle
Semaj, despite being in his 60s, looked full of energy and didn't feel tired at all.
Having heard this, everyone hurriedly pulled out the stuff in their bags.
Meanwhile, Lacey wandered through the less lush area while carrying her small backpack.
"Lacey, take a break. They've brought lots of food. Come and get a bite to eat," Theo hurried over and
said.
"I'm not hungry," Lacey said as she looked around.
The island wasn't as remote as she had imagined. Besides, there weren't many plants or animals
around. The advantage, though, was that it was a large area.
"Mr. Henderson, come over here!" Someone called to Theo.
"Coming!" As Lacey didn't seem hungry, Theo didn't pay too much attention to her and walked straight
over to the group.
Lillianna, on the other hand, had never walked so much in her life. The back of her foot was already
worn out after an hour of walking in high heels.
She'd been dying to rest for a long time. However, the others didn't seem willing to stop. Now that they
were finally going to take a break, she immediately sat on the ground and refused to move.
As the crowd began to rest and eat, Uncle Semaj proceeded to tell stories with great excitement.
Lacey ignored them and walked forward alone. The more she walked, the worse her mood became.
"Mom, as soon as you're feeling better, I'll take you to the beach! It'll be wonderful!" Lacey said
excitedly.
"Of course, dear. One day we'll go to the beach, to the forest, and look at nature together." Maria
chuckled.
The words of the past seemed to be etched in her mind.
Even still, the person she cared about most was long gone.
She felt depressed, and her footsteps grew fast.
"Where are you going?" Suddenly, her wrist was grabbed.
Lacey was stunned. She turned around and saw that it was Sam!
She looked behind him and found that the others had vanished. She seemed to have gone a little
farther.
"What are you planning to do this time?" Sam's eyes were deep and cold. He spoke in a dismissive
tone.
He was obviously still angry about what had happened the night before.
Frowning, Lacey abruptly withdrew her hand. She glared at him coldly and said, "Sam, if you're that
free, why do you care where your sister-in-law goes when you could be spending time with your
fiancé?"
Leaving these sentences behind, she continued walking.
However, she stopped after two steps.
Lillianna—
Yes, it was she who killed Maria!
Even so, she did not feel even a hint of sadness.
All she cared about was her man!
That was right, Sam!
Sam Garrison!
Lacey clenched her fists. There was nothing but hate in her eyes.
"Sam," she abruptly called out. The wrath in her eyes morphed into a smile as she turned to face
him. "Would you like to consider the offer I made last night? Would you be interested in learning more
about androgen hospital?
Sam's indifferent expression began to dull at this point.
He stepped closer to her and pressed her against the tree. His chilly voice rang as his fingers pressed
on her chin. "Do you have a death wish?"
"Are you angry from embarrassment?" Lacey chuckled as she lifted her brows. Her ironic gaze swept
over him, and she sneered. "Sam, aren't you incompetent down there?"
Sam's eyes grew cold as he glared at Lacey. His smile was unsettling. "What did you just say?"
Lacey did not respond. She had a smile on her face, yet her eyes were full of sarcasm.
"Lacey!" His eyes turned somber. He leaned his chin on her ear and spoke in a contemptuous tone.
"You're truly shameless. Do you think I'll sleep with you just because you say that?"
Lacey burst out laughing at this point. Her grin was bright, and her eyes crescent.
She then grabbed him by the collar, leaned closer to him on tiptoe, and whispered, "Do you honestly
believe I'd let you sleep with me? Your skills are immature. It didn't feel good at all."
