Chapter 290
Even though Casper's character was questionable, Casper's capabilities and the foundation he had built at Falconridge over the years were pretty much unshakable. Could Zach do it alone?
She wasn't underestimating him, but when it came to ability, Zach and Casper were worlds apart. There would be no good outcome.
"Casper has great influence in Falconridge, so if you want to knock him off his pedestal, you better know your own weight."
"That's why we need to team up," Zach said confidently.
He seemed so sure of himself that Eliza felt a bit taken aback. "And how exactly do you plan to take down Casper?"
"Welton International's biggest project right now is Blue Mountain. The whole company's future is riding on it. If anything goes wrong, Casper won't be able to keep his seat as president."
Eliza had heard about the project. Just getting it started had taken three years. The design, construction, and operational startup would take another five. It was designed to be foolproof, so how could Zach find any cracks to exploit? "Do you really think you stand a chance?"
Zach smiled confidently. "Let's put it this way: the Blue Mountain project is at a critical phase. If we swap the upcoming project designs, the whole thing will fall apart. Casper and his business empire will crumble in Falconridge, just like that..." Eliza seemed to get it. These design plans weren't something anyone could just grab and she was the only one who could get close to Casper. She guessed that Zach wanted to use her close relationship with Casper to pull off a covert bait-and-switch. Eliza smiled, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Such a high-risk move. What makes you think I'd just jump in and help you?"
Zach stared at her confidently. "Three years ago, everyone in Falconridge knew Mrs. Welton committed suicide. Casper didn't show up at Welton International for nearly a year. He was almost ready to hand over the reins. Your death really hit him hard..." "Everyone knows Casper fell for you. You could use his feelings, get those design plans easily, and even if he finds out, he wouldn't touch you." "Ha."
Zach didn't care about anyone else's lives as long as he got what he wanted. How could he be so sure Casper wouldn't do anything to her?
"Mr. Zach, you know what kind of person Casper is, right? Do you really think he'd let a decade-long project go to ruins over some feelings he has for me? You're giving me too much credit."
Zach was still confident. As long as Eliza agreed, he was halfway there.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
"Don't you want to be free? Eliza, don't forget, your father and brother are still under his control. One word from him, and their peaceful lives could be destroyed, thrown into chaos. Do you want to see that happen?"
Of course not. That was her bottom line. But she wasn't a naive girl who'd believe everything Zach said. How much better was Zach than Casper?
"Mr. Zach, there's something I don't quite get."
"Oh?" He gestured for her to go on.
"Are you and Aaron... close?" She looked him straight in the eyes, trying to find any hint of an answer. "Or is he in on this plan to dethrone Casper too?" Zach was momentarily caught off guard. Then he smiled.
"Aaron's business is none of your
concern, he dodged the question "We have a common enemy. If you help me, I can offer you a billion dollars once it's done."
"Aren't you afraid that since you put the price tag so openly, I might just go and tell Casper all about your plans?"
