His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 289

His gaze swept over her face with detachment. It wasn't a warm look, but it wasn't exactly cold either-it was tinged with a crisp chill. He walked away, leaving Eliza standing alone, watching him disappear, a swirl of complex emotions rising within her. This distant Casper

was all too familiar to her. For some reason, a wave of anxiety hit her.

Just as Dillon was about to leave, she suddenly called out, "Dillon, wait a sec."

"Ms. Valerie, is something the matter?" Dillon turned around, his eyes maintaining a polite distance.

"Is he... upset?" she hesitated, searching for the right words.

"Mr. Casper is fine," Dillon replied with a polite nod, his tone neutral.

Watching Dillon and Casper leave, Eliza felt a tightness in her chest. Had she offended Casper? His expression had been grim, and his look almost predatory. She was distracted all day.

After work, as the office lights dimmed, she sat alone, staring blankly out the window, her mind a chaotic jumble of thoughts. Casper's moods were unpredictable. Would he come home tonight and suddenly erupt in inexplicable anger? "It's been a while."

Startled, she looked up to see a handsome face, reminiscent of a young man. Zach?

Her eyes flickered with surprise and detachment. "Mr. Zach?"

"I heard you were still alive. Had a hard time believing it..." Zach's face bore a smile that seemed friendly but was laced with insincerity. He scrutinized Eliza from head to toe. "I didn't expect you to be doing quite well."

Eliza glanced at him coolly, a cold smirk playing on her lips. "Disappointed to see me thriving?"

"Not at all," Zach said lightly, waving his hand. "Disappointment is too strong a word. I just find it... unwise for you and Casper to get entangled again."This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

"My affairs with him are none of your concern, Mr. Zach." Eliza's tone was icy. She was clearly unwilling to dwell on the subject.

Zach shrugged, unaffected by her attitude. "Alright, then let's talk about something else."

"Do we have anything worth discussing, Mr. Zach?" Eliza's voice was cool, tinged with impatience.

"Of course." Zach smiled slightly, pulled over a chair, and sat down, fixing his gaze on Eliza. "You must have seen the USB I gave you before, right?"

Eliza's eyelids drooped slightly. She remained silent for a moment, then looked up to meet Zach's gaze. She didn't respond and just stared at him.

He knew what she was thinking. "You must have guessed it-your father's faked death and escape were much like your situation years ago. Ultimately, it's all because of Casper. The only way to completely break free from this man now is..."

Eliza didn't know what scheme Zach was concocting. People like him, when driven to madness, could be as bad as Casper, if not worse. She did hate Casper, it's true. But she' had no intention of discussing any Sled cooperation with someone

like Zach.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Eliza, if we join forces, we can dethrone Casper from his lofty pedestal.get what I want, and you can finally break free, live freely with your son and no longer under the shadow of fear. Doesn't that sound good?"

Zach's words were laced with temptation.

Eliza's beautiful brows furrowed slightly. What was Zach plotting? To pull Casper down? Did he have the power to do so? It wasn't that she necessarily wanted to defend Casper.
