Chapter 193
Kala POV
"Five hours, give me five hours and my warriors can be here." Hector slams his fist down on the desk in my alpha office.
He was pissed off at me for not giving him any warning on what I have just done, on the attack I am about to launch.
"Thank you Hector, but your pack is on the council, I don't want to involve you in this." I straighten out the documents on my desk that have become creased under his fist. "Involve me in this, fuck sweetheart, you're my mate. This does involve me."
"Alora, are these the only blue prints." I ask my sister, now my beta, ignoring his outburst. I have to make the decisions as the alpha of this pack, he can advise but this is my pack.
"Yes Alpha, I've stared at them for days, I can't find a way in." Alora walks around the desk to stand behind me. Hector also moves to stand behind me, all three of us looking at the blueprints together.
Could enter on the pretence of wanting to hear him out." I think out loud.
"You're an alpha now Kaia, so think like one!" Hector growls in my ear. He was right, that would be an easy way for me to get myself isolated from the pack. I wanted to avoid casualties, but I couldn't put myself in the line of danger. "There's just no weakness to it." Alora claims, I can see how disheartened she had become trying to find a way in. I had been looking at the maps for only a few minutes and was getting frustrated by the lack of
access.
"What's this?" I point to a long line that seems to run under the base of the concrete tower.
"That would be the waste water infrastructure." Hector responds to me.
"Big enough to walk through?" I turn to ask, his face was exceedingly close to mine, his scent invading my
senses.
"Yes...yes that might work." He runs his hands down his face.
"Kala, you can't be serious. There's no way of knowing if that will be big enough for one person to access, let alone an army." Alora tries to change my mind.
"It's the only option we have Alora. One more attack and the pack will be gone. We have to attack first."
"Let me go, let me do this. I don't want you anywhere near that tower or him." Hector's emotions were all over the place.
His wolf was trying to push forward, his eyes kept flashing a darker colour, a sign his wolf wash trying to force a shift, but he was fighting him back.
"No need, I can handle..." I gather the blueprints and start walking towards the office exit. It was just the two of us now...Alora and Ezra were preparing the warriors.
"What the fuck is going on?" He grips me by my elbow, preventing me from leaving. An eyebrow rises as ! look down at his hand, expecting him to remove i but he refuses to. "What do you mean?"
"Ever since Jude's banquet you've been cold, distant again...like you were..."
"When I woke up with amnesia..." I seethe out at him.
"Remind me...what exactly happened again?"
"I found you in the waters and pulled you out.."
"And that's all?"
"Fuck Kaia, what else is there. You blue, you were dying...I had no choice but to mark you."
My wolf and I were still locked in an internal debate, she was routing for Hector, she believed in Hector... but I couldn't let the words of both Zederick and Samson leave my thoughts...control.
It keeps coming back to whether Hector used my unconscious state to control me, to mark me as his. But now wasn't the time, I needed a level head, to think clearly entering into this fight. Hector also, needed to be cool headed.
"I need you to keep close to Alora..."
"No Kala I stick with you, I can't lose you. That is unnegotiable!" He pulls me into him even closer, possessively. He wanted to run the attack, he wanted to wait for his warriors but I didn't want to involve his pack.
This was about the Nightshade Reformed pack being bullied, being pushed to the point of extinction and if I had Hector's help...it might make me look like a weak alpha in the eyes of the council. Being a female Alpha I had more to prove. I shouldn't, but I do. "You have nothing to prove by walking into a potential trap." His voice is strong, powerful and wolf
my
tries to sink into his chest.
But I push back, she was letting the mate bond control her actions.
"I need to do this Hector, I've let my own pack down, I feel as if I have abandoned them. Alora is turning into a ghost, I've put too much on her.."© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
"She should have told us." He growls out, his wolf's fingers tightening around my body.
"Even so, I should have been more decisive, been stronger for her, for them. This attack will end in our favour, and I will secure my pack member's safety."
From his great height his eyes look down upon me like a god-like figure, he was an incredibly powerful wolf even being half human. I think like me, he had something to prove.
Can I trust him? What would he get out of trying to control me....
"You stick by my side no matter what.." He heavily commands.
"Hector." I start to protest.
-25 BOAT
"I mean it Kala, you stick by my side. Human form or wolf form, you do not leave my side, not once."
With the blueprints rolled up and under my arm as a source of reference I walk us out of my office heading to the front door.
"Is everything ready?" I ask as Ezra walks into the house, I could hear the engines running outside_feel the tension through the pack-link of those that worry we may not come back.
This was going to be an early morning raid, the sun having not yet risen. Hopefully by breakfast time a new agreement will be in place and this Alpha Marc will understand his place in the shifter world. "Ready Alpha!" Ezra confirms back to me. As I leave the front door, vehicles line up outside the alpha house...ready to move.
This was make or break for the Nightshade Reformed pack.
Everything and everyone has a weakness, and hopefully I have found Alpha Marc's.
