A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 52

Chapter 52

This time, Jace was the one who started the conversation.

“I have come.”

His voice carried hints of gentleness. For some reason, he sounded like an apologetic husband approaching his wife after a fight.

Raising her brows, Sage found the situation somewhat strange.

She had clearly told him that they should treat each other as strangers the next time they met. So, why was Jace acting as if he was on familiar terms with her?

“Sorry, but do I know you?”

Sage simply glanced at him nonchalantly, turned around, and walked away.

Jace was left alone. Staring at Sage, who was leaving, his face hardened.

He felt a weight settle on his shoulders, and he heard Yoel’s chuckle. “Damn, wasn’t it embarrassing? I feel for you.”

Trying his best to not laugh, Yoel went on, “This is not how you get a lady, especially not your ex-wife. You were the one who abandoned her and with an ‘I have come’, you’re expecting Sage to come running back into your arms? Do you really think that Sage is the kind of girl who would throw away her dignity and integrity for love?”

Jace furrowed his brows tightly. It was true. He was not good at pursuing women, and he somewhat agreed with Yoel. Putting aside his ego, Jace asked, “What should I do to pursue her then?”

His serious attitude startled Yoel. “Are you asking for real?”

Placing his hand on Jace’s forehead, Yoel continued, “You’re not having a fever though. Why are you suddenly talking nonsense?”

Jace’s expression darkened as he smacked away Yoel’s hand, hissing, “Get lost!”

Crossing his arms in front of his chest as he studied Jace, Yoel shook his head and said, “My friend haven’t you ever heard of the saying: Never jump into the same river twice? The most absurd and ridiculous thing you can do is to remain in love with your ex wife, unable to move on. You should have loved her fully and sincerely when you had the chance to do so, and when you broke up, you should accept and respect the decision. Don’t try to piece back what has already been broken, for even if you are able to piece it together there will always be a crack, a scar. Nothing will ever be the same again. Besides, you should ask yourself why you are pursuing Sage. Are you pursuing her because you have developed feelings for her? Or are you after her because you have grown used to having her by your side?”

Jace froze. Pausing for a moment, he finally replied, “I simply needed an answer.”

“About?” asked Yoel.

Jace did not answer but instead started following Sage.

Looking at Jace, Yoel could not shake his head as he thought to himself that it was about time that Jace got a taste of his own medicine.

Sage arrived backstage. For some reason, she could not seem to calm down.

Closing her eyes, Sage cursed at herself silently. She had clearly swom to take back all her remaining feelings for Jace, but she found that he still affected her.

Sage tried her best to calm herself down. She mocked herself with the painful memories that she had of Jace. Even if he was there, he had not come because he had feelings for her.

Hence, it did not matter whether he showed up or not.

The backstage was crowded, and everyone was busy. A few staff members were moving a display cabinet and were passing by Sage. Suddenly, one of the staff members lost his balance, causing the display cabinet to fall in Sage’s direction.

Sage, who was still in a daze, was about to avoid the falling cabinet when she heard someone shouting at her. The next thing she knew, she was pulled into someone’s arms.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
