Chapter 590 Everything In The Dream
Chapter 590 Everything In The Dream
"Get off me!" Mario brushed off Quinn's hand. "You've all been tainted by Martha's influence. You only focus on being the legitimate children while labeling Lucas as b*stard. But have you ever thought that if your mother hadn't interfered, he wouldn't be labeled as such? You look down on Lucas, but in reality, you're the ones with the darkest motives. You share the same malicious blood as your mother. When Isabella's plots failed, Cynthia stepped in. Next time, Quinn, will it be you?"
Quinn instinctively shook her head. "No, I won't ever—"
"You will," Mario interjected her with a look of disgust. "It's crystal clear to me. You're all just like your mother—greedy and unscrupulous. I don't have daughters like you. Leave, all of you!"
"Dad, I haven't done anything wrong. Why do you say that about me?" Charlie protested.
"Because you're all Martha Ford's daughters," he retorted coldly. "I didn't blame you when Isabella tried to harm Lucas that time. But now, with Cynthia's actions, it's become evident. You're all cut from the same cloth as your mother, just as malicious as she was. My biggest regret in life is marrying your mother and having you."
Charlie seethed, "But Jordan, Quinn, and I haven't done anything wrong. We're your daughters, and the Griffin Family is our family. Why do you want to kick us out?"
Fearful of being expelled from the family, Cynthia quickly chimed in, "I haven't done anything either!"
Mario sneered, "Did you hear that? She clearly wanted Lucas dead, yet she shamelessly claims she hasn't done anything! Like mother, like daughter. All of you, get out of here. I want none of you!"
Tears welled up in Martha's eyes as she gazed at Old Mr. Griffin. "Dad, are you going to kick us out too? It was you who arranged my marriage to Mario back then!"
He responded indifferently, "I misjudged you. I didn't realize how malicious you could be. Our Griffin Family's lineage relies on Lucas alone, and yet you intend to harm him. Your daughters have inherited your maliciousness. We can't tolerate this any longer. Leave."
To him, daughters-in-law and granddaughters were insignificant. All he desired now was a grandson, notably Lucas, the brilliant and capable fourth Young Master of the prestigious Hart Family in Dusktown. In comparison, Martha and her daughter were like insignificant specks of dust. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Meanwhile, Mario quickly drafted a divorce agreement, signed it, and tossed it into Martha's hand. "Stop causing a scene. It's settled now, so why make it uglier? Sign the document and leave the Griffin Family with your daughters. Hurry up. You can take your clothes and jewelry, but be quick. Otherwise, I'll have someone kick you out, and you'll leave with nothing!"
She couldn't believe her ears. "Mario, have you lost your mind? Aren't you worried about your reputation?"
He chuckled bitterly. "Reputation? Anyone who knows me, Mario Griffin, knows that I lost the love of my life. I watched as the woman I loved gave birth to a son and raised him in another's family. I spent half my life with a woman I didn't love. I've become a laughingstock, so why should I care about my reputation?"
His dignity had long been lost. What else was there to be embarrassed about?
Martha seethed with anger, her mind reeling as she clenched her teeth and stared at the divorce
agreement he had tossed her way.
They had signed a prenuptial agreement before their marriage, stating that his wealth had nothing to do with her. If she divorced him, she would leave with nothing. Their marriage had been unequal, and the prenuptial agreement had been even more unjust. However, she had felt compelled to sign it at the time.
At that time, the Ford Family was in turmoil, and marrying into the Griffin Family could elevate her status. Hence, Old Mr. Griffin pressured her into signing the prenup, threatening to find another woman for Mario if she refused. She reluctantly agreed to the prenup to secure her place in the Griffin Family.
Her original intention had been to marry Mario and bear a son for him quickly. With a son, he would become the future heir of the Griffins, and the entire family would eventually belong to her and her son. The prenuptial agreement had seemed inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. However, she never anticipated the cruel twist of fate. Despite years of trying, she couldn't conceive a son. Hence, the dream of securing the Griffin Family's inheritance through a son had turned into a delusion.
Now, Mario is seeking a divorce, and Martha won't receive any of the Griffin Family's assets. Her only entitlement is the savings she has accumulated during her time in the family.
Her relationship with him has soured, and he intentionally withholds financial support. However, to maintain the family's reputation, Old Mr. Griffin had arranged for a monthly allowance to be deposited into her account. While this amount ensured she could maintain the title "Mrs. Griffin" and avoid destitution, it was minuscule compared to the Griffin Family's immense wealth.
Now, with Mario pushing for a divorce, Martha can only hope to secure a minuscule portion of the family's fortune. Unfortunately, he wanted to leave the lion's share to Lucas, and this drove her to a
jealousy-fueled frenzy. She ripped apart the divorce agreement, exclaiming, "Mario Griffin, I've given birth to five daughters for you, and you want to kick me out with nothing? How can you be so heartless? I won't sign it! I'll agree, but only if we divide the Griffin Family's assets equally!"
"You? Suggesting a claim to the Griffin Family's assets with Mario?" Old Mr. Griffin scoffed. "I'm still alive! The family's assets are under my control and haven't been transferred to Mario. What right do you have to claim any of the family's assets? You were married into the Griffins with the sole purpose of giving birth to a son, which you haven't done in over twenty years. What grounds do you have to demand a share of Mario's assets?"
Mario added, "I've relinquished all my assets; they now belong to Lucas. I'm left with nothing, not even a single penny. In fact, I'm burdened with two billion in debt. Are you going to accept the divorce terms or not?" His eyes bore into Martha's as he continued, "Hurry and sign the divorce agreement. I'll take responsibility for the 3 million in debt. Refuse, and I'll proceed with the divorce, leaving you not only penniless but also saddled with 1.5 million in debt."
He couldn't fathom what she hoped to achieve. After all, he had transferred everything to Lucas. He could only suggest she dream about it.
