Chapter 290
Chapter 290
It then hit Patricia that she never cared about how she looked whenever she ate with Isaac in the past. In fact, she'd even deliberately gobble at times to make him despise her.
Who'd have thought I'd become his girlfriend one day?! Alas, my image has gone down the drain.
Then, Isaac tore another chunk of meat with bone attached and put it on her plate. "Go on, eat up. It won't be nice anymore if it gets cold."
With that, he sliced up his meat gracefully with a fork and a knife before putting a piece into his mouth, looking prim and proper.
Well, excuse me. Patricia grumbled to herself, finding it unfair. Why do you get to use a fork and a knife while I have to nibble on it?!
She wanted to oppose it, but a certain someone gave her no chance at all.
Thus, she pouted indignantly. Whatever, my image is long gone. Why should I care now?! Anyhow, this is wild goat meat; no doubt it'll taste even better than the ones I usually eat.
With that, she picked up the bone and began nibbling, exclaiming in awe after having just one bite. "Oh, my God! This is amazing! The meat is so tender."
It was different from the lamb meat she usually had. Hence, she nibbled away joyously.
Meanwhile, Isaac beamed with delight as he watched a certain someone nibble on the goat's leg happily across from him.
He loved watching her eat the most, for he'd work up an appetite as well.
…
As Martha sat facing Patricia at a table nearby, she took a plain glance at the young woman and found her rather beautiful. However, the way she ate was rather… unbecoming.
What would a woman like her have anything on my baby Rose?!
At that, she put some food onto Rose's plate and comforted her, "Cheer up, Rose. Eat up. I'm sure the Arnolds won't let Isaac's current girlfriend into the family."
After all, the Arnolds were the top prominent family in Appleby, with the Ortega Family following behind.
They were very critical when it came to finding a suitor for their progenies. Not just about anybody could marry into the Arnold Family, after all.
Rose sighed in response. "You haven't heard about it, have you, Mom? She was the one Old Mrs. Arnold took to that tea party. The Arnolds have already accepted her as one of them."
Martha's eyes widened with incredulity at that. A second wife like her didn't deserve to join an elite tea party at all.
With that, she took a few ganders at Patricia, surprised to learn that the young woman was shrewd with her schemes.
At the thought that not even she had attended such an event, her animosity grew, and her hatred for Patricia deepened.
"Rose, try bringing up your marriage to Isaac with Grandma. You're the only girl in the family, and your grandmother adores you. She'll certainly help you if you just say the word."
The idea was all Martha could come up with. Though she was Mrs. Ortega to the public, she had no discourse, nor did she have the power to help her daughter.
At that, Rose quirked her lips and took a sip of red wine. "Mom, you know what Grandma's like. She's said that she wouldn't meddle in any of our businesses. Besides, she doesn't want to see me marry into her best friend's family for fear that their relationship would be impacted if things get rough in the future." From NôvelDrama.Org.
Isaac would've long been hers if she had her grandmother's support, and Patricia wouldn't even stand a chance!
No way was she giving up when she had a crush on Isaac for years!
…
"I'm done," announced Patricia as she removed the disposable gloves and wiped her hand clean with a wet napkin, stuffed after eating half a leg.
However, Isaac proceeded to pour a bowl of soup for her. "Have a bowl of this soup."
He had deliberately ordered it for her as it was said to be packed full of nutrients.
Patricia didn't turn him down, taking sip by sip before she finally couldn't stand it anymore. "Isaac, will you and Rose form an alliance marriage in the future?"
After all, the Ortegas and Arnolds were well-matched, and Isaac was close to Nikola. Naturally, it made her believe he and Rose were the epitome of a perfect couple.
