Chapter 253
Chapter 253
In a private room named Bambusa in Spago, Zachary and Isaac were seated by the table while their assistants were just beside them. As they watched their bosses glaring at each other, they were helpless.
Eventually, they rose from the chairs at the same time and lifted their glasses.
"I'll propose a toast to you, Mr. Selwyn."
"I'll propose a toast to you, Mr. Arnold."
Isaac shot a dispassionate look at Zachary's assistant, Darell Mcgee. On the other hand, Zachary swept an impassive glance over Liam. None of them responded to the assistants.
Liam and Darell were embarrassed, so they clinked their glasses and gulped down the wine. After they were seated, they wouldn't dare to do anything silly again. Hence, they could only look at each other.
They had never felt so helpless before. The fact that they were respectively the special assistants to the presidents suggested that they had excellent capabilities. However, they often felt useless when they dealt with their bosses.
Breaking the silence, Zachary asked, "Aren't you here to talk about the plot of land in Eastville, Mr. Arnold? Have you decided to sell it to me?" He pretended to be friendly with a faint smile, but everything he said sounded scornful. There was no denying that he was a haughty person despite
appearing affable.
On the other hand, Isaac gaped at him unenthusiastically. "I can sell you the land since it doesn't matter to me. However, Patricia is my woman, so I don't want you to approach her again."
His rationale was clear; he could give up the plot of land but not his woman.
The smile on Zachary's face faded when he heard that, and it was replaced with coldness.
"You might not be aware of it yet, Mr. Arnold, but I've known Patricia for five years. I've been wooing her during this period, and she's considering becoming my partner. Love cannot be forced. I don't think she'll fall in love with a womanizer like you."
Zachary believed that he knew Patricia very well. An innocent woman like her wouldn't love a lascivious man.
Other than Adeline, Isaac was also in an ambiguous relationship with Rose. It was also said that there was a woman he looked up to, and he had been looking for her over the years. There was no way Patricia would fall in love with this kind of man. Even if she was besotted with Isaac, Zachary was determined to make her stay away from that jerk.
All of a sudden, Isaac laughed. "Don't you think you're too conceited, Mr. Selwyn? Do you think you know her very well? You might not be aware of it yet, but after you sent her flowers today, she kissed me and said she loves someone like me." Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Then, he poured himself a cup of wine and squinted before chugging it down joyfully.
A moment later, he said to Liam, "Have you brought the contract with you? Give it to Mr. Selwyn. If he's willing to sign the contract, the plot of land in Eastville will be his."
Liam put down the contract in front of Zachary, who soon realized that there was a condition in the contract. It was stated that Zachary would have to stop wooing Patricia. Besides that, he could never see her or contact her again.
The moment he saw the condition, he tore the contract apart. "Stop daydreaming, Isaac! We still have other projects even if we don't get the plot of land in Eastville, but I'll never give up on Patricia!"
He rose from the chair after he finished speaking.
Darell quickly got up as well. "We'll take our leave, Mr. Arnold. See you, Liam!"
Zachary glowered at him. "Stop talking to people like them. Go!"
They left the room and shut the door with a bang.
Liam stole a glance at Isaac, who was drinking wine cheerfully. He had to acknowledge that no one was better than Isaac when it came to enraging others.
Zachary's expression earlier suggested that he was infuriated.
Perhaps he has never kissed Miss Aniston before. He must be jealous, Liam thought.
Isaac filled his cup with wine again and eyed Liam. "Do you have a girlfriend now, Liam?"
He recalled that Liam used to have a girlfriend, but they broke up for some reason. This guy is in his thirties, but he is still single. What a pity.
