Wolf-less Omega Luna

CHAPTER 8: MY LUNA

CHAPTER 8: MY LUNA

“You still haven’t told me what happened to your wolf,” he said out of the blue after a comfortable moment of silence had passed between us.

My heart immediately skipped a beat at the thought of reliving those moments.

“You don’t have to, Alana, we can talk about it whenever you’re comfortable enough to share,” he caressed my cheek as he noticed the change in my expression. “Or never.” He added and I released a chuckle.

I breathed in a lung full of air to prepare me for the rollercoaster I was about to board.

“I was bullied a lot when I was growing up here. Mean kids picked on me for no reason at all and one day, I was beaten so much to the point where I passed out.” I paused and sniffed in an attempt to block the tears that threatened to fall.

Axel’s eyes were glazing over and his expression hardened as I narrated my ordeal.

“Go on, my love,” he urged through gritted teeth.

“I didn’t get any treatment. My wolf grew weaker and weaker till I couldn’t feel her anymore. I couldn’t hear her, I couldn't talk to her, and I couldn’t run with her.” My sniffles gave way to an outburst of tears.

I never mentioned any of it to anybody. I never even told the story out loud before. But telling it to Axel made me realize how much I had to go through, alone.

My wolf was broken, my soul too. My vision turned blurry as the transparent liquid dimmed my eyes.

Axle pulled me closer, wrapped his arms around my small frame, and locked me in a tight hug. His heavy breathing showed that he too was battling with his emotions. After I let out enough tears, he

pulled away but his hands still lingered on me.

“I am sorry that you had to go through all of that alone, Alana. Nobody should have to.” He had more of a guilty than a sorry look.

“It’s not your fault, Axel,”

He tilted his head to lock eyes with me and his once dark eyes warmed up.

“What is your wolf’s name?”

“You mean what was her name?”

“No. She's not dead, just far away, and I promise to help you get her back. What's her name?”

I have never heard of a werewolf gaining their second form twice, but I guess it was possible. If there was anyone who could make it happen, it would be Axel. He made an empire out of a mediocre pack.

A warm feeling spread across my entire body. Gratitude? Joy? Something more? I wasn’t sure, but I wanted it to last forever.

“Rox. Her name is Rox.” I said slowly.

Just as I expected, the name rolled out of his mouth at once.

“Roxxx.” A grunt escaping his lips carried a buzz that melted on my skin and traveled through me till it settled somewhere in between my thighs.

I hurriedly perished whatever thoughts threatened to form in my mind, not wanting Axel to smell my arousal.

“Four cannot wait to meet her, and you too. The one time I turned in your presence, we didn’t get the pleasure of formalities.”

A warm laugh ricocheted between us.

“I cannot wait too.”

“Alana,” he inched closer to me and placed a palm over my thigh. “Things will never go back to how they were before. I can promise you the world and everything in it, but what I choose to give to you right now is my complete loyalty.” His eyes were now a piercing shade of blue. “I am yours from now on till death, and beyond.”

As I listened to him speak, all the questions I once had were replaced with hope, trust, and warmth. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

Axel’s actions made me feel things — sensations in my core that took me to the clouds and back. — His words made me feel special, like I was the most beautiful and important person alive. Nobody else made me feel that way. And after the events of the last few days, why would I want to refuse to be loved by such perfection?

“Being the Luna of a pack requires a lot of qualities. I don’t think I have those. I cannot fight, and I cannot lead”

“I believe, Alana, that there’s nothing that you cannot do. You just have to set your mind to it.” His conviction about it was more reassuring than the words. “And besides, no great leader was made in a day. You can take it one step at a time and it’ll all fall into place. I’ll be by your side every step of the way.”

I nodded in response.

The steady tap of the drip and two hearts beating erratically were the only sounds that could be heard in the room.

“Thank you,” were the only words I could string together from my fuzzy brain.

He responded with a smile and a curt nod.

My stomach growled angrily and only then did I realize that I hadn’t had any food for longer than necessary. A second embarrassing growl sounded and I prayed that Axel would not hear it. My face instantly turned to a shade of red.

“You must be hungry,” a small laugh erupted from within him. “You haven’t had anything to eat. I will call for lunch,” he said. “What would you like to have?”

Of course, the alpha heard my stomach make those unreal sounds. What was I thinking?

I spent a good long second thinking about the question because I had never had the pleasure of choosing the kind of food I ate.

“I get to choose?”

“Yes, of course. Whatever you want.”

I lived on whatever leftovers I could find in the pack. On bad days when there were no leftovers, I had no option but to sleep hungry.

“I really don’t know. I haven’t had to choose what I eat for as long as I can remember. I mostly ate what I could find in the pack kitchen at the end of the day.”

“I have an idea. Why don’t we have a little of everything that we can get our hands on? Hmm?”

“Can we do that?”

“Yes, we can.”

My eyes widened at the thought of having a variety of food to pick from and my stomach bubbled in excitement.

Axel's eyes dilated for a moment meaning he was mindlinking someone before he returned his attention to me.

“The beta is on his way.”

Beta Tyler. I had seen him a lot around the pack mostly during the early morning runs and pack training. Lexi had a bit of a crush on him.

Okay, a huge crush.

I gave a slight nod of my head.

“You have the most captivating eyes I have ever seen, Alana,”

A blush spread on my face and I feared that my lips would tear from smiling too broadly. This man did have a way with his words.

A brief moment passed before I could summon the balls to reveal what was on my mind.

“I think I have answered your question.”

“What question?” His face looked as calm as ever.

“I, Alana Green, accept you, Axel Crescent Black, Alpha of Crescent Moon pack as my mate.”

His expression was unreadable, save for the back-and-forth altering of his eye from blue to black. It was almost frightening.

What if he rejected me? What if he had changed his mind? There was nothing special about me that ought to make an alpha as powerful and feared as Axel to want me.

My heartbeat became sporadic.

“I, Axel Crescent Black, alpha of Crescent Moon pack, accept you, Alana Green as my mate and the dam of my pack.”

There was no time to release the breath I didn’t realize I was holding for so long as a current of electricity jolted through me, reaching every bone, every drop of blood, and every organ in me.

It must have been the same for Axel. His eyes were now completely dark and we both looked like we were in a trance.

The electricity was soon replaced with a warm breeze that felt like it transferred Axel’s soul into my body, and mine into his.

Our hearts beat in synchrony as we both released pants and shudders from the surreal but exhilarating experience.

He took my hands in his and locked eyes with me.

“My Luna.”

The warm touch of his lips clashed with mine and I hungrily took and devoured it.
