Wolf-less Omega Luna

CHAPTER 4

CHAPTER 4

Alana's POV “He said he'd protect and love me,” I murmured to myself as I ran through the back of the pack house into the hallway. I desperately wanted to take my mind off all that had transpired within the last day, but I couldn't. I snuck into my room and quietly took off my clothes. I cleaned myself up and changed into an auburn tank top that matched my hair and paired it with black joggers. I sat on my small frame bed to lace my worn-out sneakers and I took a glance at the family portrait that stood on my table. It had me, my mom, Sarah, and my dad, Jake on it. “Mom, Dad, I found my mate.” Pausing for a second, “I’m scared,” I added with a sad smile. My door flung open, disconnecting me from my emotional moment, and Lexi marched in. “Where were you all night? I was worried.” She asked, handing me an apron. “I had some extra work to do. Did anybody look for me?” I asked. “You mean Britney.” She inferred rather than asked. “No, thank the moon.” “Tie my apron for me, will you please?” I said to her, playing with my hair. She trailed my body from my head to my feet. Her eyes widened and she gaped in awe. “You nasty girl!” She exclaims. “You’re glowing. Like THE GLOW!” She added, emphasizing each word with a frantic wave of her hands. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said in defense. “Spill. Now.” “Fine, I met my mate last night,” I said, giggling. Tears welled up in her eyes as she covered her mouth with her right palm, and I could tell she was happy for me. “I'm so happy for you, Alana, things will be better now.” “We still have to find your mate though,” I said with a shrug, wanting to get off the emotional rollercoaster. “Don't worry about me, my sweetheart will come on a horse and we will ride into the sunsetAll rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

together.” We laughed and shared a hug. All the time when I would end a day's work with fresh injuries and blood, Lexi would clean me up, patch my wounds, and offer me comforting words. She was like an elder sister to me. “What's he like? Is he handsome? Tell me everything.” She squealed, clapping her hands together and letting out a hick. “I went to clean the alpha’s room last night.” I began. “I accidentally fell asleep on his bed and he came in…” A loud bang interrupted my sentence as Britney barged into the room, fuming towards me. I believe I saw smoke rising from her upturned nose. Her eyes were completely dark. “I told you not to let anyone find you there, didn’t I?” She grabbed a handful of my hair before I could protest. “You miserable loser. How are you even alive? You soiled the alpha's night with your worthless presence.” She spat, venom spurting from her pores. “It was a mistake,” I yelled, tugging forcefully at her hands. “Please leave her alone Britney, she didn’t do anything,” Lexi said to help. “You shut up and stay out of this if you don’t want to join her,” Britney fired back. She yanked me to the front of the pack house by my hair, threw me across the ground, and charged at me with her bared claws. I had silently taken in the ill treatments from Britney, thinking I wasn’t good enough to fight back or be treated fairly. I was just an omega, and she…well, she was a well-trained fighter and the Delta of the pack. But that didn’t give her the right to treat me like garbage. I have offended her, not once in my entire life, but she made it a priority to make my life difficult. If I am good enough to be the alpha’s mate, and I am good enough that he wants me, then that should mean something. And it should mean that I deserve some respect. Not only as the one chosen for the alpha but as a person with feelings. I suddenly found the courage to strike back. To defend myself. I let out a snarl and pushed her from her side as she lunged forward to claw my eyes out. She stumbled a few steps backward but regained her balance.

There was shock in her eyes. “You animal. Did you dare to touch me?” She asked, her eyes wide with fury. “Enough is enough. I have done nothing to offend you and you cannot keep bullying me. Take your problems and lash them out somewhere else.” I glared at her, almost screaming at the top of my voice. She seemed taken aback at first, but she got even more angry. “ If you try to attack me, I swear I will make your skin bleed,” I added firmly, overcome by my anger. Passersby have now stopped to take in the unimaginable scene playing out. Some people who were fed up with Britney’s behavior were sneering at her. Others on her side cursed at me. “She’s such an idiot to think she stands a chance with Britney,” I heard a girl say. I did not care. As Britney charged at me with full force, I attacked her, dragging her by her blonde hair and sinking my fingers into her bare neck. She elbowed my chest and gave me a sharp uppercut on the left side of my jaw. I groaned and grasped tightly onto her red silk gown that did nothing to cover her fair thighs. She tried to throw me across the floor but I tightened my grip on her gown, letting the piercing sound of a rip course through the air. Everybody went silent. Oh for moon's sake, I cursed in my head. Did I really have to tear her dress? She landed a heavy blow between my eyes and the crowd that had formed let out a gasp. My eyes rolled to the back of my head, and my fragile frame fell to the ground. ___ “Alana, Alana baby, wake up.” My eyes slowly opened to the bright rays of light hitting my eyes and obstructing my view of whoever called my name. I warily held up my left hand to block the sun rays from my eyes, while supporting my body with my right hand on the floor. I attempted to lift my head and I felt a terrible headache. Pain pumped through my body sharply, and I let out a cry, unable to breathe properly. I broke another rib.

“Alana darling, can you hear me?” He said. I looked up to see a frame that couldn't possibly be real, and I called out slowly. “Dad!?”
