Whispers Turn

CHAPTER 468

Chapter 468

Francis‘ face remained impassive, his voice calm and collected, “It’s just a pity, they didn’t finish me off.”

With that, any further attempts on him would prove difficult.

He was awake now, and it was time to settle old scores and pay back debts!

According to what Francis had explained, the child… was indeed an accident.

Objectively speaking, Gilbert believed it wasn’t his brother’s fault, but even so, it was uncertain whether Caroline would accept it.

But since the child was of his brother’s blood, he definitely couldn’t be left to fend for himself.

As for Caroline, they would have to keep it from her for the time being.

Gilbert was concerned and said, “Brother, if the child is going to be raised by the Johnsons, then… what about her mother?”

“Why worry about such things?” Francis spoke softly, his handsome face calm and indifferent. “In my mind, the child’s mother merely gave him life. Beyond that, she and I share nothing.”

Hearing this, Gilbert sighed in relief.

That was a relief.

“Brother, don’t worry too much. Give Caroline some time; I believe she’ll understand.”

After all, it was truly an accident.

His brother’s feelings for her remained unchanged, as before.

“Mm.” Francis nodded, a hint of concern knitting his brows, “I hope so.”

That afternoon, as Sherilyn left the hospital, Jenna was feeling much better, allowing her a bit of peace of mind.

Returning to the dance company, Gilbert arrived on time to pick her up as usual.

While buckling her into her seat, Gilbert cleared his throat, “Ahem, ahem.”

Sherilyn frowned, “Are you coughing? Are you sick?”

“No.” Gilbert paused, then chuckled, shaking his head, s just been too dry lately, my throat’s a bit parched.”

“Oh.” Sherilyn nodded, dropping the subject.

That evening, as Sherilyn nestled in Gilbert’s arms, they discussed plans.

“Tomorrow night, I’ve made plans with Rebecca to have dinner at her place, and if it gets late, I’ll stay over.”

Jenna’s treatment tomorrow is going to be more uncomfortable than today. No matter what, she needed to be there at the hospital with her.

Gilbert wasn’t too happy upon hearing this.

“Staying over at her place?”

“Yes.” Sherilyn nodded, “I do have friends, you know. Sometimes I need to chat with the girls.”

“All–night girl talk?” Gilbert was full of complaints.

Sherilyn puffed her cheeks and glared lightly at him, “Just one night.”

Seeing her like this, Gilbert knew he’d have to agree or else she might get upset.

“Alright, but just one night, agreed?”

“Mm, agreed.”

Sherilyn cheered up, giving him a peck on the lips, which he deepened into a more passionate kiss.

After the kiss, Gilbert held onto her wrist.

“By the way, we found your watch.” All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

“You found it?” Sherilyn was surprised.

“Surprised?”

Gilbert pinched her nose, “I told you, that watch is traceable by DNA; it’s impossible to sell off.”

As soon as the thief tried to sell it, they got wind of it.

“But, it’s broken and needs to be sent back to Switzerland for repairs.”

He kissed her forehead, “We’ll ship it back once it’s fixed, but it’ll take some time.”

“Oh.”

Sherilyn nodded, thinking to herself how inconvenient luxur tems could be.

The night passed without further incident.

The next morning, Sherilyn followed the same routine.

Arriving at the hospital, Jenna began her treatment, and soon after, discomfort followed.

13:22

“Mommy.”

Jenna nestled in Sherilyn’s arms, tears brimming in her eyes, “I miss Daddy. I feel so bad, Mommy. Can Daddy come to see me?”

Suddenly, Sherilyn’s heart clenched painfully!
