Chapter 31 She Called Him "Mr. Melton"
Chapter 31 She Called Him "Mr. Melton"
Daisy thought that she needed to get a few things straight.
So she said calmly, "She is in a bad mental state."
Brodie was puzzled, "What do you mean?"
Daisy looked serious. Everything to do with Luna was important to her. She said, "It means exactly
what it says. Aunt Luna has been psychologically unstable since she survived the fire. She sometimes
behaves strangely, but she doesn't realize it, so my uncle keeps her at the bedroom and doesn't allow
her to go out."
Brodie was in confusion.
He didn't know that Luna had such a terrible experience.
He hated that.
He hated himself for knowing nothing. He hated himself for not being with Luna to help her get through
the rough time.
"Is it Brodie?"
A sweet voice suddenly came from the bedroom upstairs. It was a soft voice as faint as the fragrance
of flowers in the wind.
Anyone who heard the voice couldn't help beaming with pleasure.
Brodie was taken aback.
How could he not recognize this voice?
It was the voice that he missed every moment of the past two years and wanted to hear all the time.
It was Luna.
Brodie hurriedly ran upstairs. The bedroom door was locked, so he was unable to come in. He looked
at Daisy coldly and bottled up his anger, "Open the door!"
Daisy was shocked by his impatience.
She immediately took out the key and opened the door.
The door was opened.
It was like a whole different world in the room, as if the door served as a line, dividing the world into two
separate parts.
Luna was standing inside the door. She looked pale and glanced at Brodie with an apathetic look. Her
skin got fairer due to lack of sunlight exposure. She was very thin as well. There was a long burn mark
on her right arm. Luna looked at Brodie who suddenly came up. She was a bit panicked and surprised.
However, there was not a trace of tenderness in her glazed eyes.
Brodie wanted to say something, but he didn't know how to say.
He had so much to say and had so many questions to ask her, but when he stood in front of her, it
seemed that all these things of the past didn't matter at all.
"How is Cindy doing?"
The first words Luna said was about Cindy.
That was what she most concerned about.
Brodie answered almost automatically, "She's fine. She's pretty good. Didn't you write a lot of letters to
her? She hasn't read them yet. I haven't given them to her, because I want to take you to see her first.
She misses you so much."
Luna was stunned.
"Mr. Melton," she said in confusion.
What Luna called him made Brodie even more upset and nervous. It sounded too strange.
Brodie had a bad feeling about it.
As he expected, Luna said, "Mr. Melton, I want to see her. But that doesn't mean I will go with you."
Brodie opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He was embarrassed. At last he took Cindy as an
excuse and said, "Cindy really wants to see you. She misses you very much. Don't you want to see
her? She's at my house."
Hearing Brodie's words, Luna was immersed in thought. After a long time, something occurred to her,
and she asked gently, "How did you find here?"
"By your letters. It seems that you wrote a lot long time ago, but I didn't find all of them. Sorry." © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Daisy knew the letters Brodie mentioned, "Aunt Luna, I sent those letters for you! I didn't expect they
could be received even if I wrote a hotel room as the address!"
Luna nodded, "Mr. Melton, now you are here. Let's talk about raising Cindy."
Hearing that, Brodie was a bit stunned.
"As you can see, I'm not very well. I don't think I am able to raise Cindy on my own, so my only wish is
that I'm allowed to see Cindy once a week."
