Chapter 528
The sudden storm was as swift in its departure as it was in its arrival. After the rain subsided, the electricity in the villa was restored. The thunder still rumbled outside, but the fear was lesser when the lights
were on.
As the room's light flickered on, Casey asked, "Did the power just go out?"
"You ran all the way up here and didn't notice?"
"I didn't know!" He was oblivious to what happened downstairs. As soon as he parked his car, he hurriedly ran inside, knowing only that Izabella was afraid of the dark and of thunderstorms. He wanted to reach her as quickly as possible without second thought.
So, even when entering a pitch-black room, he didn't think about turning on the lights, unaware of the power outage.
Izabella suddenly recalled two lines from the movie she had just watched.
Do you know what deep love is? It's like when the room suddenly goes dark, he doesn't look for the light but for you.
Izabella looked at his drenched figure and felt a pang of worry. Casey's health was still in recovery. And with the sudden crisis in the Dempsey family, he had been pulling overtime for a month straight. Though he never missed a meal, the overexertion was taking its toll on him. His eyes were surrounded by dark circles, his skin was pallid, and drenched by the cold rain. He looked like a piece of soaked paper
Seeing no panic on Izabella's face anymore, Casey exhaled in relief. Noticing that he was both cold and wet, he quickly released her.
"The sheets are wet now. I'll change them."
Izabella glanced at the faint water stain on the quilt. It was not significant, but in such a weather, even a minor cold could be troublesome. "You go shower. I'll change the sheets."
"But it's still thundering outside."
"I'm not afraid anymore." Izabella got up and pushed Casey into the bathroom. As long as she wasn't alone, she wasn't afraid.
When Casey came out of the bathroom after freshening up, Izabella had already changed the sheets. She was sitting on the bed browsing her phone.
"I have something to show you." Izabella put down her phone when she heard the bathroom door open. Then she opened the drawer of the nightstand and took out a jewelry box. Inside was the jade bracelet Bunny had given her today. It was so precious that Izabella was afraid of damaging it if she wore it, so she took it off as soon as she got home and put it in the jewelry box for safekeeping.
"When did my mother give you this bracelet?"
"Do you know this jade bracelet?"
"Of course, my mother said that this jade bracelet is passed down to the daughter-in-law of the Dempsey family. My grandmother gave it to my mother, and now my mother has given it to you." Casey reached out and picked it up. The jade was of excellent quality, a bracelet like this would be worth a few million at least.
"My sister Vanessa wanted it before, but my mom didn't give it to her. She said it's for my wife."
"What if you never settled down?" Izabella asked curiously.
Casey put the jewelry box away and earnestly looked at Izabella, "If I never settled down, the bracelet would naturally end up with Vanessa. You can just say she was unlucky that I finally found my Mrs. Right." He chuckled and continued, "Did you visit my father today?"
"Yes, he's recovering well. He's very open-minded about the company's issues and asked me to remind you not to overwork."
Casey shook his head and climbed into bed, holding Izabella gently, "I used to refuse when my father asked me to learn management. He thought he'd hand over the company to me when he couldn't handle it anymore. I told him I wasn't interested in his damn company."
He leaned his head to the side, rubbing his cheek against Izabella's soft hair. His voice was a bit heavy, "Only when I took over did I realize it's not easy. And my father, he's already aged."
He had never paid much attention to many things before, but now he realized, that aging is instantaneous, just like his father suddenly had a head full of grey hair and couldn't move in bed.
"The Dempsey Group is his hard-earned creation. I don't want to see it destroyed, but I don't have any other options, Izabella. Do you think I'm useless?" he asked, his chin resting on Izabella's shoulder. Izabella reached out and touched his face, "No, you're the most incredible person in my eyes."
Casey, who didn't even go to college, let alone study management, had achieved his current success entirely due to his talent.
The one who can protect the people around him is the most incredible person.
"Casey, we're the most suitable people for each other in the world." Whether spiritually or physically, they were in perfect harmony. They could snuggle together in winter. Whenever she was scared, he was always there to provide her a safe haven.
The thunder continued outside, but Izabella was no longer afraid.
Casey gently patted Izabella's back as if comforting a child. Looking at her sleeping face, he couldn't help but reach out and touch her eyelashes.
Izabella was restless in her sleep, occasionally making humming noises. Only when Casey patted her back would she feel a bit better.
The reason for Izabella's restless sleep was that she had many dreams. One moment she dreamt of Brett, the next of deceased Alan, and then of Casey and his parents.
Izabella hadn't been sleeping well these days, but it was the first time she had frequent nightmares in one night. Perhaps the cause was the message on her phone.
The next day, Izabella woke up
naturally. Instinctively turning over, she found herself leaning against a warm embrace. She immediately woke up and turned to look. Casey was still with her. What time was it? Was Casey not going to work?
Casey, known as the most handsome man in the entertainment industry, had excessively delicate features. Izabella pinched his ear. With a slight movement, the man holding her woke up. "Why did you wake up? It's still early, why not sleep a bit more?"
"It's not early, the sun is up. Aren't you going to the office today?" A faint golden light seeped in through the curtains.
"No, I've already arranged everything at work in advance. Taking a day off won't hurt. Today we're going on a date, our first one since we got married."
Izabella perked up, her mood instantly lifted, "Where are we going?"
Casey replied with a playful smile, "Considering the weather, let's go to the amusement park. It's where we first met If we have some extra time in the evening, we could also go to the hot springs." As winter approached, Izabella felt cold down to her bones. A spa would be great.

After a night of rain, the temperature dropped dramatically, signalling the onset of winter. Izabella, who was always susceptible to the cold,.
donned her puffer jacket ear net
jacket was loose and left her neck
exposed.
As they were about to head out, Casey glanced at Izabella's neck and said, "Wait a minute, I need to grab something upstairs. Don't step outside into the cold just yet." Casey hurried upstairs and returned shortly with a scarf in his hands.
"Put this on," he instructed.
Though hating the cold, Izabella didn't like wearing scarves. She always found them too itchy around her neck.
"It's chilly outside, you don't want to catch a cold," Casey said, wrapping the scarf around Izabella's neck. "I know you don't like scarves, but you can take it off once you're warm."
"Alright," Izabella agreed, standing still with her back straight, allowing Casey to adjust the scarf around her neck.
Though the scarf was somewhat uncomfortable, it was indeed warm.
Izabella and Casey headed to the amusement park together, opting to take a taxi instead of driving.
Throughout the ride, Izabella leaned on Casey's shoulder. As she was gazing out the window, Casey held her hand and treated her with the tenderness of a child.
They hadn't eaten breakfast yet and decided to stop at a diner. Casey stepped out to grab a takeout packed with Izabella's favorites.
Despite their attempts to blend in with the crowd by dressing modestly and donning masks, their unique aura was still noticeable, attracting curious glances even though they were wrapped up like burritos. They held hands, ignoring the curious stares around them.
Despite being a weekday in winter, the amusement park was buzzing with activity. Casey held onto Izabella's hand tightly, as if worried she'd get lost in the crowd.
"Bella, what do you want to do?" Casey asked.
Izabella glanced around at the amusement park rides, her gaze finally settling on the drop tower. "Anything's fine," she replied.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
"You want to try the drop tower?" Casey asked, following her gaze.
"I've never tried it before, I'm curious," Izabella replied.
"Then let's give it a shot." Casey bought tickets that allowed them access to all the games in the park.
He led Izabella to the queue for the drop tower. There weren't many people in line for it, so they got their turn quickly.
