Twisted Ties of Love

Chapter 48

Chapter 48

Brett heard Izabella sarcastically talking about Kaley. His face turned gloomy and he commanded, "You seem to be doing pretty well. You don't need anyone to care for you anymore. Go redo some dishes."

His words were arrogant, as if making food for him was a great honor for her.

"I'm the one who cleaned the room, bought the ingredients, and cooked the food. Didn’t you say that Kaley would come here to take care of me, but now?" Izabella couldn't stand it any longer. Frustrated, she kicked the trash can over, spilling soup all over the floor.

"Brett, do you think I care? You said Kaley was here to take care of me. But I think it's to satisfy your own desires by having your mistress live with your wife. I've had enough of you! I'm done!"

After her nasty words, Izabella felt like crying. She lost her appetite for dinner.

She spent 200 dollars on this meal just to irk this shameless couple, and it wasn't worth it.

Izabella tried to bypass Brett and Kaley to go upstairs and take her medicine, but Kaley seemed to be deliberately blocking her way. NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

As Izabella's stomachache intensified, her red eyes welled up, as if she were on the verge of bursting into tears. She gently placed a hand on her stomach and questioned in a hushed tone, "Kaley, are you blind or something?"

Kaley nervously looked at her, displaying a certain fear in her eyes. Izabella couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, feeling that acting pathetic was her only recourse.

Without much regard, Izabella brushed past Kaley, barely making contact with her shoulder. Unexpectedly, Kaley stumbled backward like a flimsy sheet of paper, hitting her head against the

table's edge. The resulting red mark on her forehead and her teary eyes made her appear as a pitiful damsel in distress, capable of softening any man's heart.

Seeing the scene, Izabella coldly laughed, "Gosh, now I know what it means to be too weak to stand up to a gust of wind."

Kaley was picked up by Brett, who stared at Izabella with his icy gaze.

"Izabella, you didn't take my words seriously these past couple of days, did you? How dare you bully Kaley right in front of me!"

"Bully her?"

Kaley bit her lip and buried her face in Brett's chest, whimpering occasionally as if she was in great pain.

Brett comforted Kaley in a hushed tone, glaring at Izabella. "Get back to your room!"

Izabella let out a casual laugh and made her way upstairs. Her stomach was in pain, but her mind, ears, and eyes remained unaffected.

Kaley's cunning had managed to completely defeat Izabella with just a few words and actions. Judging by Brett's furious expression, it seemed he had taken Kaley's side of the story.

As Izabella ascended the stairs, her pain intensified. Her legs grew weak, and she clung to the railing, gasping for air. From behind her, Kaley's whiny voice could be heard.

"Brett, don't be too harsh on Izabella. She's simply upset because I moved in, and it's her house..."

"It's not her house anymore."

Tears welled up in Izabella's eyes, mingling with the cold sweat that trickled down her face. She wiped them away, realizing that she had not only lost her appetite but also her home.

It was true - this house was no longer hers. If Brett wanted her to leave, she had no grounds to object.

Izabella returned to her room, locked the door, and went into the bathroom. She lifted the toilet seat and vomited up the soup she just had, leaving a greasy unpleasant feeling in her mouth.

Izabella rinsed her mouth and took her medication, this time swallowing two more painkillers.

The medicine made her drowsy. Izabella lay down in bed, wrapped herself in the blanket, curling up like a silkworm.

Soon, there were knocks on the door. Izabella rolled over, ignoring it. As the knocking grew louder, Brett's voice sounded "Izabella, open the door."

Sitting up, Izabella stared at the swaying door, unmoving.

Brett grew impatient, "I'll count to three. If you don't come out, bear the consequences."

His voice grew colder as he initiated the countdown, "One, two, three..."

Izabella opened the door, stepping into the room.

"Kaley is injured. You need to apologize to her," Brett stated firmly.

Izabella's eyes reflected a sense of gloom as she responded, "Injured, huh? Is it a serious injury? Did my gentle touch cause her physical appearance to shatter? Or perhaps she's suffering from internal injuries, on the brink of death?"

Her face displayed an indifferent expression, but her words dripped with sharpness and venom, akin to that of a snake.

Without warning, Brett's hand swiftly connected with Izabella's cheek, delivering a forceful slap that sent her crashing to the floor. Her cheek stung, and she knew it would soon be adorned with a red mark.

Brett scowled, "Can't you speak properly? Do you only enjoy making me angry?"

Izabella covered her cheek and suddenly laughed, "Yes, I enjoy seeing you angry and frustrated. It's delightful!"

Brett saw her laughter and asked, "So you're admitting that you deliberately prepared that meal?"

Izabella had to give credit to Brett for catching on so quickly. She nodded, openly admitting, "Yes, I deliberately made those dishes to upset both of you. I knew you didn't like them, so I purposely made them..."

As she spoke, Izabella continued to laugh. But her laughter was more wretched than tears. Izabella laughed at her past naivety, her wasted efforts, her foolishness, and her poor judgment of character.

"Four years, I cooked for you for four years. I know your taste better than Kaley, knowing what you like and dislike."

"I was willing to cook for you because I thought you were worth it. But now I see you as nothing but trash."

"Brett, I've cooked for over 1300 days, and I'm tired of it. As I've said before, the old Izabella who used to eagerly cook for you is dead!"
