Chapter 71 - Raven
Chapter 71 - Raven
"ARTEMIS I WILL CURSE YOU TO THE PITS OF HELL!" I placed my palms against my ear covering
them from the ear screeching squawk coming from the black raven that wailed like a crazy person,
swatting his feathery hands around.
I pursed my lips, a slight furrow between my brows as I looked pointedly away from the angry
squawking bird. "IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL A DISGUISE?! I'M A FUCKING FEATHERY BLOB OF
BLACK" My lips twitched into a frown, my brows knitting together in annoyance as my eyes stared
coldly at the fox now bird.
"MY BEAUTIFUL PAWS ARE GONE TO BE REPLACED WITH THESE!" he shrieked, shoving his Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
wings at my face. "AND MY PAWS ARE REPLACED WITH THESE THIN STICKS THAT SOMEHOW
KEEPING THIS BLOBBY SHIT UP!"
"Shut your bitch *** up" I bitched slapped him, his feathery body skidding across the room with a thud. I
blinked blankly at the unmoving little body across me. 'I may have put too much force on that slap'
I slowly crawled to Homura who didn't move, the feeling of guilt creeping inside of me. "Homura?" I
poked him but no response. "Are you dead?" there was no response coming from him again. "H-
Homura stop playing with me" I felt my voice beginning to tremble. Did I accidentally kill Homura with a
slap?
I continued to stare silently at the seeming dead bird on the floor for what felt like hours when suddenly.
"YOU VILE HUMAN I WILL KILL YOU" Homura had pounced up at me, his wings spread wide open to
attack my face. My quick instinct acted quickly, slapping the bird mid air resulting him to fly towards the
bed and land on the hard mattress with a loud thud. "OOF!"
"DON'T FUCKING MESS WITH ME, YOU BIRD BRAIN!" I shouted angrily, the flare in my icy cold eyes
sparking up.
Homura staggered up on his black raven feet as his wing was rested on his throbbing cheek. "I HAVE
NEVER BEEN SLAPPED IN MY WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE"
"Well, there's more than that came from" I rose my throbbing clenched fist at Homura, his beady onyx
eyes coated with the reflection of light glared dangerously at me as if he was ready to poke out my
eyes if I continued to challenge him.
"This is revenge isn't it. Your taking your chances of humiliating me in front of the whole animal
kingdom" he squawked pointing a feather of his wings at me, I glanced at him with no expression on
my face as if he was a fool for believing such stupid thoughts."You turned me into a dumb bird because
I laughed that you turned into an old crinkly human like that witch" Homura's voice wasn't the sound of
soft masculine tone like before, but it had changed into a screechy tone whenever he opened his beak
to talk.
An eyebrow of mine had arched up in disbelief "Now you're being ridiculous" I crossed my hands. I
already knew this disguise potion Elisaria gave me that lasted longer than the mask potion I brought
from the potion store from Argentum was going to turn me into an old hag because Elisaria told me.
I specifically asked for it because I have feeling turning into a random girl would cause a little ruckus for
more than my liking. It's an odd gut feeling that if I diagnosed Ben in a disguised girl form, Neil would
instantly become interested in a random mysterious girl who appeared out of nowhere and was able to
cure an illness no one has any knowledge of.
This would conclude on Neil commanding for my Identity, then he will miraculously fall in love with his
brothers saviour, search the whole world for this mysterious girl that wasn't even real in the first place,
neglect all his work and duty of a prince for someone that is never coming back maybe will get married
yet his heart would still be attached to the mysterious woman who disappeared.
It's not like I care about the ending results of that but the first part, I don't have the mood to deal with
him or the self-patience that is required to. Waltzing into the place disguised in a granny wouldn't cause
as much maybe that I'm a woman would but Neil becoming interested is -100% maybe even lower.
Unless he is a weirdo for having something for old ladies that could be old enough to be their great
grandma. I'm just saying. There are people like that I have seen on the internet in my world, liking
people who were like 30 or 40 years older than themselves.
"Ridiculous!" he gasped back sounding so offended bringing my attention back on him. "DO YOU
REALISE I'M A GOD FORSAKEN RAVEN. THE WORST CREATURE I COULD TURN TO" Homura
shrieked flapping his wings like a maniac, feathers fluttering out and onto the bed. "I rather be a slug"
his tone came out venomous as he squawked.
Him as a slug is just.......
Eww.
I'm not very fond of slugs and a talking, nagging, snobby and dramatic slug on my shoulder leaving a
slippery mucus behind is just revolting to think of.
"Yeah no" I shook that disgusting thought away.
"Are you even listening to me!"
"There isn't a rule stating that I should" his beady eyes narrowed at me his beak closed shut as he
stared at me trying to think of a good comeback.
"It's called morals and manners, Artemis. Do I need to teach an INCOMPETENT FOOL LIKE YOU!"
I turned my head away so my ear drums wouldn't burst from his annoying and screechy voice. "No
thank you. I'm sure I will thrive with what I know" picking my ear with my pinkie with an expressionless
face.
"You might but you will end up all alone without any friends" he squawked at me while he started to
lecture me.
"U-Huh" I examined my nail for any stuck ear wax not caring about he said because I know it's all true
and I don't give any flying fucks about it. Standing up and slowly walking with these old legs that
surprising wasn't hard which the old witch made it look like.
I had made my way to the wooden fancy table in the corner of the room with all my belongings stacked
on top of each other, my katana, pouch of kunai and shuriken's were also there because of my outfit
consisting of a medieval dress that reached my ankles and a white blouse.
I brought all this from the stall market in the commoner district so that I wouldn't wear my kimono that
would risk my identity, but I still have the stolen cloak that I haven't returned to the guy I kindly
burrowed from.
I wonder if he is still looking for it. I don't know and I'm not going to ponder over such useless thoughts
anyway. Ignoring Homura's annoying yapping, I unbuttoned the button of the pouch and slid my finger
in the loop and pulled it up.
I turned around staring blankly at the pissed off bird that was fuming from anger, the kunai turning
swiftly around my fingers that it seemed it was levitating around on my palm. "Are you done?" I asked
cold hearted heartedly.
"No! I'm not done. I have a lo-MhMHMHM" I pinched his beak shut preventing him from speaking any
further as he squirmed trying to get free. Leaning my back forward and reaching his eye level, I gazed
deeply into his onyx eyes that reflected the dark night itself.
"Listen here you pesky little bird or fox whatever you prefer to be called right now" I said pulling down
his beak so I could get better look at his narrowed angry eyes. "Every time you open you shitty mouth
my patience towards you reduces every second a word escapes your mouth"
Homura was silent and stopped squirming to break free from my grasp. He had started to compete with
my stare not breaking the intense stare between us.
"Right now, it's on its peak. Another annoying word out of you I would lose it and choke you to death.
You being a dumb flightless bird would make things easier for me to accomplish" my words came
smoothly and clear yet cold for this fox to know that I'm not some pushover that lets a little dog to
slander me around.
He didn't respond.
An innocent smile crossed my face, and I released his beak and Homura started to rub it with his
wings. "Now" I took out a small bandage that for some reason was hiding in the pocket of the cloak.
"Let's turn you into an injured bird" the said showing the small piece of white cloth to him making look
confused and annoyed.
"How come you can change personalities so quickly" he mumbled but I heard him loud and clear. I
rolled my eyes but didn't say anything.
Opening one of his wings open I wrapped it around and tying it with a small bow.
"What's this for" he squawked "Tch, I already hate my voice!" he put his other wing on his throat.
"Relax Homura it's only for today." I dusted my hands impressed with the tiny bow I knotted with my
wrinkly hands. Homura narrowed his eyes at me, eyeing me in disbelief.
"Maybe. Depending on how long I need to diagnose Ben" I shrugged averting my eyes away from the
silent fuming bird. "However, I promise you, you will have your full body back forever once I'm done"
Stepping back and standing tall with my hands on my waist like a superhero with a halo behind him I
spoke assertively "But for now, I am...." I paused for a moment relaxing my shoulders down and
pinching my chin in deep thought.
'What should I call myself?' I made thinking noises, closing my eyes, and thinking of any white fantasy
names that I could think of. "The only name that comes to mind is Bob. I don't know why? But that's a
boy's name not a girl's" I sighed, itching the side of my old grey hair.
"What about Aletheia?" Homura said bluntly, his wings had crawled back to his sides as the white cloth
was revealing through.
"Aletheia" I echoed back with mumble. "Well then Aletheia it is" I clicked my fingers
"I'm Aletheia then. Aletheia Smith"
"And what am I? your trusty bird companion named Lucifer" Homura said sarcastically, rolling his eyes
at me.
"No, your name is Bob" I poked his feathery chest with my long bony finger as a cheeky smile crossed
my face.
Homura pulled a puzzled look, titling his small bird head to the side "Bob? What kind of name is that!"
