“Don’t you dare shift, your mate isn’t in a position to fight me right now and I won’t be the man who kills
your mate.” Eric points towards the van, “go and sit with the pup.” Ghost just glares at Eric as he angrily
raises an eyebrow at us. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
‘Who died and made him boss?’ I close my eyes as I feel Ghost’s worry, she’s making light of the
situation but I know she’s as worried about Cas as I am. Ignoring Eric I pull Ghost back and shift, he
quickly diverts his hazel eyes before swearing under his breath.
“Get over it,” I tell him as I look out over the clearing. I quickly lose count of how many bodies are on
the ground, most of them I recognise and some I don’t. I can smell the weird difference between Pack
and
Rogue now, it’s like a metallic earthy scent that I can’t quite place. I cover my mouth as I notice the little
boy laying limp in the mud, I start to walk towards him when I feel a hand on my arm.
“Luna, please. Alpha will do his nut if he knows we didn’t try,” I turn to see a warrior whose name I don’t
know, he seems to be a younger man who didn’t shift. He’s still in his jeans and boots but he’s holding
his t-shirt out to me leaving me bare chested, nodding my head I take it from him and pull it over my
head.
“How many?” I can’t stop the tears from rolling down my face as I continue to walk over to the little
boy’s body.
“Nine of us, ten including the pup. It was a stray bullet, I don’t think they were aiming for him.” I kneel
down to the boy as the warrior

keeps talking. I run my fingers through his short blonde hair and see the bullet hole just below his
hairline. An inch higher and he would still be here, “Heath has one of the men. he’s taking him back to
the cell block. The rest are dead or fled once Eric started in on them.” I look over the clearing to see
Eric throwing wolves off to the side, I know instantly they are the rogues because every now and again
he picks one up with care and walks the body over to the rogues van.
“Cas got hit, where?” I can barely catch my breath, I can feel the panic rising in me but with Cas down
the Pack needs me to be strong, I just don’t know how to do it.
“We got him to the Pack house, Don go and help Eric with the dead. and take them home.” I close my
eyes in relief as Rowan’s strong voide booms across to us, I cradle the small boy in my arms as Rowan
walks to me and kneels down. “Let us take him Luna, he’ll be buried properly I promise.” I ease my grip
on his tiny body as the warrior, Don, leans down to carry him off to Eric,
“What happened?” I ask Rowan as I try to get a handle on my emotions, “I don’t understand what
happened.” The stench of blood gets stronger as the bodies move, it’s almost like disturbing them is
mixing the scents in the air..
“We don’t know,” Rowan holds his hand out to me but I shake my head and stay kneeling in the wet
ground, “we got the alert of a rogue watching Sophie and Alex playing and the next thing there was
twelve of the bastards. They just kept coming,” Rowan sounds tired as he runs. his hand through his
hair.
“Cas?” I can still feel him so I know he’s not dead but feeling him go. limp under Ghost was one of the
scariest moments of my life.
“He got shot four times, his wolf isn’t healing him. I called Darryl and

he’s racing here now with his medical team, Eva,” I look up as Rowan seems to struggle with what he’s
trying to tell me. “Fraction was there when I called and I believe he might be coming too.”
“So we have nine dead warriors, a dead pup, an Alpha in critical condition and two visiting Alpha’s. One
of whom hates me,” I look up at Rowan, shaking my head, I stand from the ground and brush my red
hands down my borrowed top. “Do you know how to get ready for an Alpha visit?” I hope he knows
because I have no idea.
“I do.” I nod my head as I start walking over towards the van, right now I’m working on instinct, “does
the boy have family?” I ask as I look into the can and count nine bodies, I can’t see the boy so I
assume Don has placed him somewhere else.
“Not anymore, his father died here.” I close my eyes as I pray for strength and for the ones we have
lost, I stay like that for a moment. before I turn from the bodies.
“Then we bury him, with no family the Pack are his kin. We take care of our own, the rogues get
burned, they don’t deserve to be buried.” Without waiting to hear what Rowan has to say I walk away
and hope he gives Eric my orders, “I’ll be with the Pack.” I only take a few steps when I hear a
commotion off to the side, stopping, I turn back and look at Rowan who just shrugs his shoulders.
“I’m not going to hurt you, look, I’m not touching you.” I recognise Eric’s voice but I can’t see him. I
quickly run past Rowan and round the side of the van to see Sophie on the floor. She’s curled up into a
ball and shaking so much I can actually see her moving, Eric is standing back from her his hands out in
front of him.
“Eric?” I ask as I take a few steps closer, I’m actually kicking myself for forgetting about Sophie, with
everything that happened she just flew

turn back to see Rowan striding towards Sophie just
as Eric growls and pushes me to the side.
“You won’t touch her, she’s not dressed.” Eric sounds angrier than I ever heard him, his shoulders are
hunched and his legs are far apart like he’s getting ready for a fight.
“You’re not dressed, hell half of the people here aren’t dressed. She’s terrified and needs to be taken
home.” Rowan sounds just as confused by Eric’s behaviour as I am, his eyes keep dancing between
me and Eric. “Eva, help me here.”
“Eric, she’s scared, let us help her.” Keeping my voice low I walk forward and place a hand on Eric’s
bare arm, he looks down at me with bright yellow eyes, his wolf has completely taken over.
‘Eva, don’t let the males touch her. You take her home, protect her.’ Ghost is so insistent but I can’t say
I understand why anyone is. behaving this way, Eric growling louder has me looking over at Rowan to
see Don has joined him.
“Alright, Rowan, Don back off. Leave us alone.” Don walks off without question but Rowan just stands
there with his arms crossed over his chest, “Rowan?”
“I’m not leaving, he can deal with it.” Rowan speaks to me but his eyes
don’t leave Rowan.
“Alright, Eric, look at me. Ignore the a-hole Beta and look at me, we are friends right?” I try to keep my
voice level as Eric’s yellow eyes look down at me, the man terrifies me but I also understand him and
the pain he feels. “I will take Sophie back to the Pack house, get her cleaned up and checked out?
Does that work for you?” Eric just grunts

at me as his eyes po back to Rowan, letting go of his arm as I slowly walk over to Sophie who is still
curled up in the mud
“Sophie.” I whisper her name as I kneel down in the mud. I keep my hands on my knees, shes giving
off some serious seed vibes right now so I dare not touch her “It’s Eva, will you come home with me so
we can get you checked out?” I see her little redhead move as she shakes her head no. “You see I
don’t remember the way and Alpha Cas isn’t here, I don’t want to tell Keta Rowan or the other Alpha,
please help me.” I know it’s awful to truck a child and to be to them but
something tells me that if Sophie thinks she is helping me then she will pet up. I’ll live with the pult of
misleading her if it gets her out of the clearing
“Alpha Cas was hurt.” Her voice is mu ffled from the way her hair is wrapped around her face, I can see
a brune starting to bloom across her pale face, “can I shift, Luna?” I nod my head and step back, it
takes Sophie a minute but eventually she manapes to turn into a small pale prey wolf, she somehow
managed to do it without displaying any of her body.
“Eva”” I look back to see Eric is still blocking Rowan’s view of me and Sophie, I lean around his
massive form to smile at Rowan.
“Meet us at the Pack house, bring the warriors home.” I put my hand in Sophie’s fur and direct her into
the trees, I try to avoid clearing, a child doesn’t need to see all of that death and honestly, I don’t want
to see it again either.
