Chapter 49
Violette POV
“Good morning, Violette.” Beatrice woke me up. I looked around the room and to my dismay, Master had left just like he’d said.
“Good morning.. Ms. Beatrice.” I said with a small smile. I was upset but I wouldn’t let her know that.
“Today will be a fun day, indeed. The kingdom is having its annual light show. You will not be working in the castle, but instead helping with decorations outside.” She in a cheerful tone.
“Light show?” I asked. I’d never heard of that before.
“Oh.. sometimes I forget you’re not from here. Every year on this day we do a light show. People from the towns come in and picnic in the dark while fireworks get shot off.” She said. That brought a true smile to my face.
“I’ve never seen fireworks,” I said.
“You will love it, then.” She clapped her hands together excitedly.
“The king arranged for this gown. You’re to be bathed, and your hair done, then we will eat before time to start the decorations.” She said. I quickly planted my feet on the ground.
“How are your pains?” She asked.
“I feel nothing. They feel healed, already.” I said. She lifted my dress to take a quick peek.
“They are! How wonderful.” She said. The door opened and in walked a few maids with buckets of hot water.
“Alright now get started. We don’t have much time.” She said. I untied the string between my breasts and pulled off the dress. As I walked to the bath, I smelled a hint of citrus and mint.
I climbed in and the maids began to get to work on scrubbing me clean.
After my hair and body were washed, they helped me out and dried me off.
“This gown will look amazing on you!” One of the maids said. It was a lilac-colored silk gown. It had little bows down the side and a bigger one on the back above my bottom.
“Wow! Indeed it does,” Beatrice said with a smile.
They dried my hair as quickly as they could and brushed it out. They did a single braid, with a single matching lilac bow at the end.
“You are very beautiful. I wish I looked half as lovely.” One of them said. I could feel my face turn bright red as I blushed.
“You are the one who’s beautiful. You all are.” I said. They gave me smiles before they left the room.
“We must go, now,” Beatrice said as she rushed to the door. We quickly walked down the hall.. and as we passed Masters room, my eyes lingered for a moment.
“You will see him soon, dear,” Beatrice said. I looked at her and furrowed my brows.
“I..I wasn’t-“ she cut me off with a shake of her head.
“It is fine, dear. I won’t tell.” She said with a smirk. She wrapped her arm in mine as we continued to breakfast.
••••••••••••••••••••••••
“I absolutely love that color on you, princess,” Sylvia said. Lillian agreed with a bright smile and nod.
“Thank you, Sylvia,” I said. We are outside placing picnic blankets on the soft grass, with small baskets on each one.
“Lillian.. are you alright? You seem to be in your head today.” I said. She nodded.
“I’m fine.. Cedric.. he asked me to move in with him.” She said. A wave of sadness flowed through me.. but at the same time I was excited for her.
“You’ll be moving from the castle?” I asked.
“He says the King has put together a special room for us.” She said.
“Oh that’s wonderful, Lillian.. isn’t it?” I asked.
“I.. I’m afraid.” She said. I grabbed her hands in mine.
“Now why on earth would you ever be afraid?” I asked incredulously. Goddess, this girl and her worries.
“I don’t want you to think that I’m.. not going to be around, or that..” she trailed off.
“That what Lillian? That you’ll be living with the second in command? That you’ll be a higher-ranking lady than me? I do not care. You deserve it.” I said.
“I only think that because.. well I think he plans to propose sometime soon.” She said. I covered my mouth and gasped.
“Really?” I asked. She nodded her head excitedly.
“He was asking me all these questions about the perfect night.. and it just seems like that’s what he’s going to do.” She said. I smiled brightly.
“He is a very lucky man,” I said.
“Are you sure you won’t be upset?” She asked. I shook my head.
“I would never be upset to see your happiness, Lillian. This is the greatest news!” I said. We continued talking for a while until I saw Master.
He was staring at me with a look in his eye.. I felt like I was being called to him.. my body pulling itself to him like a magnet.
He waved me over and I left the girls.
“Cedric has something he wants to ask you.” He said. He looked me up and down and a small smile appeared on his face.
“If that is alright with you..” I said. He gave a nod. Not even a moment later Cedric walked over.
“Violette.. I have a huge question and I need Your honest opinion.” Cedric said. I looked at master once again for confirmation and he nodded.
“I will give it,” I said. He gave me a toothy grin as he pulled out a little black box fit for a ring.
“Do you think she’ll like this? I plan to ask for her hand tonight during the light show.” He said. I looked at the ring and smiled. Lillian was right.
It’s a dainty ring with a two pearls swirled around each other. It is quite the ring.. and she will absolutely adore it.
“Mmm.. I don’t know..” I joked. His smile began to fade.
“I’m only joking. How did you know pearls were her favorite?” I asked. Master let out a small cough to conceal his laughter.
“I had a dream about it.” He said.
“It is perfect, Cedric. But please know she will care for your words more than a piece of jewelry. And If you hurt her, I will rip you in half.” I said with a smile.
“You’re still doing the joke thing.. right?” he asked. I shook my head but kept my smile.
“You did a wonderful job on the ring, and no doubt, she will say yes in a heartbeat,” I said.
“Thank you.” He replied. He quickly took off, shoving the box back into his pocket. I stood beside Master as I watched him embrace Lillian and give her a gentle k**s. Her excitement to be near him was adorable.
“You’re quite funny,” Master said. I looked up at him and smiled.
“You think so?” I asked. He nodded his head and smiled brightly. Goddess, that is one hell of a sight.
“You look.. Well dressed today.” He said. My stomach felt warm at his compliment.
“Thank you.. master.” I said.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“You are very much welcome, Violette. Now, I’d stand here and chat all day if I had the opportunity, but it seems I have something important to take care of before the night begins. I’ll see you later?” He asked. I tried my best to hide my shock at his sudden.. enthusiasm to see me.
“Of course.” I said as I blushed a tiny bit.
He turned away and as he walked off, I thought I’d felt his fingers brush the back of my hand. I watched him walk away, but before he disappeared into the castle he peered back at me.
