The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 290 Shattered Ambitions

Chapter 290 Shattered Ambitions

Michael's ambitions were vast, and his methods were ruthless.

Abigail had hoped that marrying Nathaniel would be her ticket to using his influence to rid herself of Michael, that perverted devil.

However, now that Nathaniel had called off the engagement, she felt a surge of hatred as she lowered her head.

Seeing her slumped on the floor, Michael, unimpressed by her disheveled appearance and nightclub attire, yanked her roughly to her feet.

Panic flashed in Abigail's eyes. It had been years since Michael had laid a hand on her. He had left her alone because she had been useful to him, and in recent years, he had turned to other girls.

Though injured in his youth, he had only grown more perverted with time.

Abigail knew of several girls who had suffered greatly at his hands.

She had envied Frey, who seemed to have everything as she was born into the influential Gomez family, and engaged to the perfect man, Nathaniel.

Jealousy had consumed her, fueling her desire to make Frey regret ever existing. But even after Frey's release from prison, Nathaniel had remained obsessed with her.

Abigail recognized her failures. She had planned the car accident and the fire that had ruined everything. Her envy had led to her own downfall. "Dad! Please, Dad!" Abigail pleaded, desperate for mercy.

But Michael was unmoved. He was unforgiving of her failures and indifferent to her pleas. It was her fault that the engagement was ruined, and she had to face the consequences.

Throughout the night, muffled cries and screams echoed from the Hill Mansion's basement, gradually fading by morning.

Three days later, aboard a yacht docked at Gateshore Pier, Abigail sat in a chair dressed in a long-sleeved gauze dress. Wearing sunglasses and smoking a cigarette, she stared across at Jolin, whose expression was dark and grim.

Jolin's gaze briefly lingered on the red marks on Abigail's ear. She sneered inwardly, seeing the hypocrisy in Abigail's outward appearance of purity while secretly seeking other men.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

Jolin was unaware that the fire she had set at Abigail's instigation had completely sabotaged the grand wedding in Saeville.

"If only Frey had died..." Abigail knocked the ashes from her cigarette, "I would have ensured you got your money. But now that she's alive and well, things are different."

Jolin's lip curled in disdain. "Is it my fault? You couldn't even keep Nathaniel tied down. Frey was saved because you let him be with her. And now you blame me?"

Abigail flicked the cigarette butt away, her eyes holding a hint of resentment as she put out the cigarette. She looked at Jolin with a mix of pity and coldness. "You're in a tough spot, aren't you?"

"You were once a star, now ruined and blind. I hear your parents are selling grilled cheese on the street right?"

Jolin stood up abruptly, her face flushed with anger. "You!"

Abigail removed her sunglasses and met her gaze coldly. "Jolin, if you messed up, you messed up. Think carefully about who can help you now."
