The Lost Female Alpha

Part 2 Chapter 4 - Elijah

In my estimates I had been here for nearly three days and in all that time I hadn't been allowed to leave the bedroom once. During that time different people came into my room to bring me what I needed and Diana's mom came a few times a day to teach me how to hide my thoughts.

I was getting better at it but it was completely exhausting. Whenever she left my room I felt the same as I did after spending all night negotiating with a rival pack on a business deal. It would be so much easier if I could somehow fight my way out of this mess, but that didn't look like it would be possible.

I was being watched at all times. Even when I was locked in this room I could hear the sound of breathing and heartbeats on the other side of the door. Arthur would know the moment I tried to leave this room, there was no way around it. 'It doesn't matter, we can take them all down.' My wolf growled.

He hated being restrained. He wanted to take control of my body and break us out of here. The longer I was locked in this room, the harder it was getting for me to push him back. It was a well known issue for alphas which made me wonder if Arthur had an ulterior motive for not suppressing my wolf completely.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

He had been giving me just enough silver in my food to keep my wolf sluggish and stop me from shifting or mindlinking anyone. But it wasn't enough to completely cut off my connection to my wolf or take away my strength. I would still be able to kill most other werewolves without breaking a sweat.

'Yes, he wants us dead. We need to kill him before he kills us.' Flint replied.

He might have been overreaching but his words had a ring of truth to them. Getting my out of the way would be in his best interests. As long as he could stop Diana from feeling our bond snap, she would still come here to rescue me and fall straight into his trap.

Now my mind was made up. I couldn't bear the thought of him getting his teeth anywhere near her. I had spent too much time waiting for a rescue party and I was done. I was getting out of this place tonight.

I would wait until everyone had fallen asleep and then I would break down this door and knock out everyone who got in my way. If I didn't eat or drink anything that they gave me then I might even be able to shift by midnight. Flint let out a soft growl of approval, he was ready for a good fight.

Diana's POV

I haven't been able to decide what my best course of action was despite thinking of little else for the last couple of days. Ryker still insisted that the best course of action would be for me to fully bond with him. He thought it would give us the upper hand in the fight, I hated to admit it but he was right in that part at least.

Getting what I needed into Arthur's pack was going to be difficult and despite reading through all of the books that my mom noted down. I didn't have any better solutions. It was the only part of our plans that we couldn't get around and I knew that I wouldn't be able to put it off much longer. I had already been avoiding Ryker for the last few days but I couldn't do that forever. I had to make a decision today.

I took a deep breath before knocking on the door to Mark's office. He opened the door and invited me in. His mate was sitting on a sofa in the corner reading a book, when he saw me walk in he quickly stood up and bowed in my direction. "You don't need to do that." I told him.

"Yeah, I have been telling him the same thing. I guess it is a difficult habit for him to break." Mark wrapped his arms around his mate and kissed the top of his head.

"Anyway, how can I help you today?" Mark asked, turning his attention back towards me.

"We need to finalise our plans and get ready to attack Arthur's mansion." I replied. Mark's mate used the fact that our attention wasn't directed at him to slipped out of the room and closed the door behind him. Being around alpha's was still difficult for him, he was probably relieved that I didn't try to make him stick around.

Mark gave me a puzzled look. We had planned to meet later in my office but I knew if I went to my office then it would only be a matter of time before Ryker would show up. He was less likely to find me here, although it wasn't impossible. "Are you still avoiding Ryker?"

"Is it that obvious?"

I slumped into the sofa that Mark's mate had been sitting on a few moments earlier. I hated the idea of upsetting Ryker but I couldn't let that be the deciding factor in my decision. There was a lot more at stake here other than our feelings, maybe even the whole existence of this pack.

"No, but it is exactly what I would do in your position." He answered.

"I don't believe you."

He was just trying to make me feel better but I knew I was being weak. If I was a stronger person then I would have told him that we couldn't follow his plan. But I couldn't let myself do that, not when it might end up being the best way of getting Elijah out of Arthur's house safely. I was weak and I hated myself for it.

"You don't want to rule out taking him up on his offer until you can be sure that we have an alternative plan." I nodded my head in agreement.

"Do we have any viable alternatives?" I asked because I really didn't know. We had been talking strategy nonstop over the last few days but each plan we came up with seemed more desperate than the one before. Until I started avoiding him, Ryker's smile would grow wider with every attempt we made. It was as though he was more certain with every moment that passed that he was going to end up in my bed. The thought made me shudder, and not in a pleasurable way. "I think our best plan is still to trick Arthur into thinking you are submitting to his will, then using his overconfidence against him." I nodded my head, this is what I was worried about.

We had been over this plan a few times. We kept rejecting it and then coming back around to it when we couldn't think of anything better. The problem with this plan was that there were too many unknown variables.

We knew the building Arthur was staying in now was different to the one he was staying in when I first found him. It was even in a different town close by. I wasn't sure if he didn't feel safe going back there after our previous attack or if that was part of his plan all along. But it meant that we had no idea what the layout would be inside the house.

We could get around that by me telling them all the details through mindlink. That however would rely on me being kept conscious and being relatively free to walk around the house. I thought that was a huge assumption, one that was bound to be our downfall if we used this plan.

Arthur had been playing us all along, he seemed to know exactly what we were planning to do even before he did. Even when we did manage to surprise him it didn't quite go our way, he was so organised that the situation played more into his plans than it did into ours. Over the last few days I was starting to think that he might have even planted the idea in Mark's head so that he could get my mom in this house to take Elijah.

He was strong and he had powers that I was only now starting to get my head around. I couldn't even guarantee that Arthur hadn't put any ideas in my mind. I tried my best to block him out but there was no denying that he was better at this than me. We could make all the plans that we wanted but they would be for nothing if Arthur locked me up or forced me to bond with him as soon as I got there.

"Oh well, there is no point putting this off any longer." I smiled at Mark one more before getting to my feet and leaving the room. After today my life would change forever, it just remained to be seen if it would be for the better or not.
