Chapter 26
Chapter 26
"Nothing has happened to her until now. But, how she will be like will depend on your performance."
"Wesley, don't be too shameless!" Meredith was enraged. From the beginning to the end, her mother
had never done anything to betray him.
At first, Wesley was just a poor boy who had nothing but ambition and talent. It was her mother who
brought the family's property and accompanied him to work from dawn to dusk, so he could set up this
company.
However, Wesley's reward to Meredith's mother was that he brought home a mistress after he gained
success and became wealthy. That mistress was a young girl, who was at the similar age as Meredith.
He had tricked her daughter into prison and trampled on her. Or what his reward was that he had
threatened her daughter with her illness after Meredith's mother fell ill?
"Meredith, mind who you're talking to. Haven't you learned how to be polite in the past few years?"
"I show courtesy to people. But there is no need to be polite to those shits." Meredith clenched her fists
and a sharp pain hit her, but she didn't feel it.
"Meredith, I'm warning you not to talk nonsense for the last time. Since you don't know the rules and
manners of life, when you go back to the mansion of the Masons tonight, I'll teach you well. If you don't
come, you'll have to bear the consequences."
Wesley said coldly and hung up the phone.
Meredith listened to the cold electronic prompt tone and wished she could just rush over and kill this
brazen man with a knife.
After all, he and Meredith's mother were husband and wife for more than ten years. Even if he had a
pet, he should have developed affection, but he used Meredith's mother's illness as a bargaining chip
so calmly.
However, despite her anger and hatred, when it was time to get off work, Meredith could only do what
Wesley said.
She had no room for argument.
At the mansion of the Masons, Meredith was shut out and waited for a long time before she was
allowed to come in.
She thought it was Wesley's revenge on her. He was a man who must take revenge and wouldn't let
anyone get away.
"Well, have you learned how to speak in a polite way?" Wesley stood on the steps and looked at her
arrogantly.
Meredith didn't answer his question. Instead, she said, "You asked me to come. Probably it shouldn't
be just for this."
On the way here, she was already mentally prepared. No matter what Wesley did, she had to be
tolerant and make him tell as much about her mother as possible.
"You must immediately withdraw your appeal against Lily."
Meredith pinched her fingers hard.
"Lily entered the because she slandered me of stealing. I don't think she is wronged. Besides, it was
not my lawyer who wanted to sue her. It's useless for you to talk about it with me."
Lily had bullied her more than once, and Meredith really didn't want to let her go.
Wesley pondered for a long time. He just heard that Derek had woken up, but the Xaviers hadn't
announced it yet. Lily's matter was so difficult to solve. Could it be that Derek helped her behind her
back?
"Meredith, I know you've gotten in with the Xaviers, but take a look at yourself in the mirror. Will the
Xaviers allow you to marry into it? You are just like a dog counting on their backing. Don't be so
shameless."
A dog counting on their backing?
Meredith suddenly found it very ridiculous. Which father would use such harsh words to describe his
daughter? If she depended on others to achieve what she gained now, then what about him?
Was he a barking old dog?
"I can't do this." Meredith was in no mood to argue with him.
No way would she let go of Lily.
"Your cousin is still a girl who hasn't been married. Why can't you think about it for her? If she keeps a
criminal record in the future, how could she get married?"
Wesley frowned.
His words fell into Meredith's ears, making her feel as cold as being thrown into a glacier. The coldness
she felt seemed to come from a place covered by miles of ice all the year round.
For Wesley, he could care about anyone. He could think of anyone's future, but not that of his biological
daughter!
It seemed he was afraid that Meredith would refuse, so he added coldly, "Your mother is abroad now.
The sanatorium just said that there was a new special medicine that would do good to her health ...
Whether she can be blessed with this new medicine depends on you."
Meredith's words were on the tip of her tongue, but shattered. She clenched her fists. But eventually,
she put them down feebly.
Now that she didn't even know where her mother was, so what else could she do?
"I'll let her out. You tell me where my mother is." after a long time, Meredith looked up, her eyes
reddening.
"Don't bargain with me. You don't have the qualifications." Wesley refused without thinking.
Meredith's character made her like a time bomb. He had to hold her weakness in his hands to be at
ease.
Being rejected, Meredith did not say anything more. This once familiar place called home only made
her almost suffocate.
Meredith turned to leave, and her steps were getting faster and faster. In the end, she was like running
away.
Meredith went back to the house of the Xaviers, and Derek wasn't there. He had been busy for the past
few days, and sometimes he just stayed out instead of going home.
It was just fine that he wasn't here.
Meredith went to the kitchen and found a bottle of red wine which was for cooking. She went back to
her room and sat by the window to drink alone.
She wasn't a drinker. But after what happened today, her heart felt like being blocked by a ball of
cotton. She really didn't know how to relieve her emotion, so she could only use this method. It would
be fine that she was drunk and fell asleep.
If she kept thinking about it, she would be driven mad.
It was late at night when Derek got home.
He was tired after finally finishing a slightly tricky project.
However, as soon as he pushed open the bedroom door, a strong smell of alcohol rushed into his face.
The man frowned with an arc showing his unhappiness.
When he wasn't around, was Meredith just wasting her time like this?
Meredith was almost drunk. She couldn't hold her liquor. After drinking a bottle of red wine, she was
drowsy and her body was not under control. When she heard the sound, she stood up unsteadily,
"Who's there?"
Derek looked at her. He wondered how much she had drunk. Who else would go back to this room at
this time?
"How much did you drink?" the man tore off his tie and was impatient.
Derek was a bit of a neat freak and usually hated drunk people. Seeing that Meredith was dazed, he
thought he'd just throw her into the guest room and let her be.
However, before he could put it into practice, Meredith came over in a daze, trying to see who it was.
Her loose pajamas spread out due to her uncontrollable body movements, and a large area of white
and smooth skin was revealed.
Derek looked at it and felt a little parched.
However, he wouldn't do anything to a drunk woman. His lust wasn't that strong.
Thinking about it, Derek turned around and left. It wasn't a big deal that he slept in the guest room
tonight. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
"Stop!" Meredith mistook him for Wesley. She pounced on him and asked with tears in her eyes, "Why
do you treat me like this? In your point of view, other people are people, but I'm not a person? What
can I do to let you let go of me? Tell me, tell me!"
Meredith was crying. It was the first time Derek had seen her cry. There was some shock in his deep
eyes, and he couldn't bear to see her like this.
He thought that she was so indestructible that she would not shed tears at all, but it turned out that she
was also so fragile at times.
"You are drunk. Talk to me when you're sober."
The man pushed her hands away and stood up to leave. Meredith raised her feet to chase after him,
but her left foot tripped her right foot, so she fell straight on Derek. Her hands held the man's private
part.
The sudden stimulation made Derek gasp. Worse still, Meredith didn't realize what she was doing.
Instead of loosening her hands, she increased her strength without being aware of it.
