The CEO’S Secret Mistress

Why don’t I loathe him?

” Hey Mavis, are you okay?” Lisa said as Mavis started to open her eyes.

” No. All those women… they died… they died because of me.” She said as she slowly started to get control of herself.

” How would you have known? There was no way to know that Julio would kill them so don’t be too hard on yourself” Lisa said trying to console her.

” That’s not an excuse. Either way, I am still responsible for everything that has happened to them. It’s still my fault.” Mavis said, still laying on the bed with a dejected look on her face.

Lisa didn’t bother to say anything else since her sister seemed to be convinced that this was her fault. She just watched Mavis as she silently cried and then she started to wonder how their life turned out like this. All because her sister hooked up with the wrong man.

” What’s their dumb plan?”

” You’ll never believe what that man is asking us to do?”

” What? Is he going to ask everyone to go their separate ways and never contact each other?”

” You wish. He is going to make us ‘hide’ our identity by putting us in the public eye”

” What?”

” He said that people will believe his family is not a mafia family if we all play our part in the public eye. Summary, he wants us to act as a family full of drama. That way people would not even think to associate the mafia with us and he can just be the sick grandfather which everyone loves and respects.”

” He’s got to be joking. How is this plan different from the previous one? You know, coming from a mafia gang leader one would think he’s a lot smarter because what the hell is this so-called adjustment apart from the fact that we’ll be doing this for a longer period? They’ll catch us faster than the speed of light. I mean, what about the man who is already onto him? ”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

” He claims the man would see no need to investigate further if he sees through the public that we just a dramatic family and nothing more”

” That’s stupid. A detective will always have a hunch and that hunch won’t go away until he has investigated. This man is out of ideas and in as much as I might have a better idea, I actually won’t share it with him because I want him to be caught”

” There’s no catching him without catching us. We are already caught in a web with him”

” Not if we have a way to prove our innocence. We were just victims here”

” Well proving our innocence would mean that we must admit that Blaine got us into this situation. It was he who brought us here. It was all his fault. Are you ready to put the life of your baby’s father at risk?”

” A hundred percent. Blaine IS the reason that all this has happened. We would’ve been in London, I know that life wouldn’t have been easier but at least it would’ve been better than this life I’m supposed to live here. I give us a month and we’ll get caught!”

” I reckon the interrogation process won’t be so… Kind. They’ll probably torture the truth out of us, won’t they?”

” Not if we tell them what we know. Clearly they’ll be able to figure out how out of place we are. I doubt that we would be tortured if we tell OUR story. They’re the one who will be tortured – not us, so don’t worry about that. Now, tell me how Julio’s plan is going to work,”

Lisa left immediately after telling Mavis Julio’s plan adjustment. She had to start her own part of the plan which was to start school at a wealthy private school in Colombia. The only positive thing about the school was that the students fairly knew how to speak English so she wouldn’t be too distressed there. It was now she wished more than ever that she had taken her previous Spanish classes seriously. Luke also had to go to the same school as Lisa and they were to say nothing about it.

As for Mavis, it was already evident that she would never be leaving the house until Julio gives a go-ahead. So instead of making her goal about leaving the house, she made it about finding a way to prove her and her siblings innocence and Amy too.

” Mavis” she heard someone say and rolled her eyes when she saw that is was Blaine.

” Are you okay? Lisa told me you woke up”

” I’m surprised she talked to you, considering…”

” I have apologized about what happened several times. I will wait for whenever she can forgive me for Daphne’s demise”

” And what about me? You really think I’m over what happened with Daphne?” She asked giving him a fierce look.

Blaine smiled nervously before he said, ” no… I don’t think that at all… I just, thought you would be more understanding than Lisa”

” Whatever. I’m starving,” she said sitting up since it was obvious now that she was awake.

” What would you like to eat?” He asked still standing in front of her bed, wondering if she would look at him sit.

” Whatever they are serving I guess”

” Would you not like to take up the offer for a home nurse at this point?” He asked and Mavis looked at him for a while and scoffed.

” Come on Mavis, you don’t want another person’s death to be on you again, do you?”

” I didn’t say i would decline did I?” She responded rubbing her protruding stomach with both of her palms.

” Then why did you scoff?”

” Because I can’t believe I didn’t pick up on the little bits of your Spanish accent, I was so blinded by your- never mind. It’s all over now”

” But it doesn’t have to be over. Mavis, I know how we can get out of this situation. We just have to give my father the reason to believe that we’re on his side now”

” Who’s we? You and your father are going down Miguel” she said while he suddenly held back laughter at the way she said his name.

” What?”

” Nothing. I’ll go let them know you’re hungry and also get you your personal nurse for the baby.” He said still trying not to laugh.

” Yeah but what’s so funny that you look like you’re having a seizure by not laughing?” She asked getting up and blocking Blaine’s path.

He just bit his lips and said, ” it was just the way you said Miguel. You really have not a drop of Spanish in you… like that’s a very easy name to say yet you-”

“- shut up” she cut in while he laughed just a little. They stood there staring at each other for a while. Mavis was thinking of how devastatingly handsome he was and how she would’ve preferred it if he wasn’t a murderer or a murderer’s son.

” Are you going to let me pass or…” Blaine said even though they were just inches away from kissing.

Mavis realized their scandalous position and let him pass without wasting any more time. That was after blushing so red she feared a tomato couldn’t hold a candle to his cheeks.

When Blaine left she sat back on the bed and face palmed herself. She couldn’t believe that she was yet again almost locking lips with Blaine who would’ve never let it end at just a kiss.

She couldn’t understand herself at all. Did she love this man or what? Even with what he’s done and caused in her life why doesn’t she loathe him?

Since she didn’t have the answer to that she just waited for her meal and when it came, she ate and went to look for Lisa or anyone to talk to before boredom kills her.
