Chapter 14
I woke up next to Steven. He was hugging me and his head was close to my chest.
I tried to move but his hug only tightened on me. I suddenly remembered Agatha, so I immediately looked for my things and saw that my cellphone was on top of the table.
I tried to reach for it and when I got it, I immediately opened the message box. I saw Agatha’s message last night. I was asked where I was but I got this reply.
I’m Steven. She’s with me and she’s safe’ Steven replied to my friend.
‘Really? Okay and take care of our friend. It’s okay even if you won’t return her. Bye.’ Agatha replied.
I frowned at what I read. What? Is she throwing me to Steven? I’m so touched that my best friend love me so much. Note the sarcasm please.
“Good morning babe,” I looked at Steven who looked very sleepy and snuggled closer to me.
“Where are we Steven?”
“Island,” he answered sleepily.
“Why did you bring me here?”
“To have time alone with you,” he answered while still closing his eyes.
“But why here? One more-” I couldn’t finish what I was going to say when he kissed me. DIt’s deep and torrid. I wrapped my hand around his neck and he me pressed harder and deepened the kiss we shared on the bed.
“Just focus on me babe. Stop asking questions.” He frowned. I stared at his face for a moment because I just now realized that our son didn’t get his eye. His eyes are golden brown. It’s so attractive and beautiful.
My eyes are black and Hivo inherited that. While his nose is pointed and the shape of his face is perfect. Thank goodness my eyes didn’t play tricks on me that night. Thanks to Steven’s genes, my son is very handsome.
“Babe, I’m hungry,”
Steven’s lips is naturally red.
“Babe, let’s eat. I know I’m handsome but I’m really hungry. I didn’t eat last night.”
“Why?”
“I looked for you. After coming home from the hospital, Lourdes said you went home. And I went to the address on your resume but it was a different address.” He frowned and obviously wanted to ask me a lot of questions.
I should be nervous now. But nothing. I couldn’t feel anything. I think I’m ready. Ready to tell him everything.
“I should ask some help from Akhael, my friend, but I saw you in his club. I’m confused. I don’t mean to underestimate you, but that club, it’s costly. Not to mention that you’ve had a few shots of tequila. It can’t compensate with your salary.” He said. His voice was serious and he was looking at the ceiling. He’s like an investigator piecing everything together.
“You’re indeed mysterious to me. Is your name really Rialyn? Are you playing with me? Why did you applied as my maid? Who are you really?” He added.
“Those are just some of the questions I had when I found out that your address was not really your address yesterday. I should be mad at you. But when I saw you in the club, I can’t help myself but to own you. I want you. All of you. So I said to myself, maybe you have a reason. I can feel it that you are not a bad person. So I trust you.”
I couldn’t help but be emotional about what he said. I didn’t expect it. I can’t stop my tears.
I hugged him. I felt him planted small kisses on my head.
“Thank you Steven. And I’m sorry,” I said.
“It’s okay babe. I’ll wait. Whatever your reason is, I’ll wait for you to tell me. I’ll gamble with you.” He whispered.
This is indeed an island. I thought something would change in his treatment of me, but I was wrong. I became more complacent with him.
“Get that one Steven,” I shouted while looking at him taking a young coconut.
“Where’s the ‘babe’ babe?” I rolled my eyes again because of his bossiness.
“Fine. Get that one, babe.” I repeat what I said earlier even though I look like a fool. I tried to frown but I couldn’t because it was hard to fight the joy in my chest.
Steven got a lot of young coconuts before he went down from the tree. I helped him remove the dirt that stuck to his body.
I also wiped his sweat and he just stood there looking at me with a smile.
“Why are you smiling?” I asked, chuckling.
“You’re pretty and I like you,” I stopped for a moment and looked at him.
“You look crazy,” I said laughing even though my cheeks reddened of what he said.
“Come on. Take that. We’re going to make a salad I saw some ingredients in the fridge earlier for Buko salad. (Buko salad: A dessert contained of lots of young coconut meat, nata de coco, milk and sago (tapioca pearls).
A simple day with Steven. No Amanda. I prefer this. Fun and very fulfilling. We’re in the house and we’re done making Buko salad. We put it on the fridge.
“Babe, wanna come with me?”
“Where?” I asked while eating the banana fries I cooked earlier.
“Fishing,”
Fishing? Hmm.. That’s a nice idea.
“Yes please,” I said excitedly. He laughed.
“You like it?” I nodded. I looked into his eyes and he was looking at me full of… Love?
Is it true? Or am I assuming things again?
He kissed my forehead and I closed my eyes as I savored his warm kisses.
“Alright. Get your things you intend to bring,” he said.
“Food. I’ll bring foods,” I said.
“Okay. I’ll wait for you here,” I excitedly turned around to get some food when Divine suddenly called.
I stopped to answer the call.
“Go home Ria,” she said. I was suddenly nervous. I feel like something bad is happening.
“Why? Did something happen?”
“We rushed Hivo to the hospital.” My chest heaved loudly.
I looked at Steven. You can see the concern on his face. He was saying something but I couldn’t hear. My thoughts lingered with my son.
“Steven, take me home,” I said.
“Why? Why are you pale?”
“Please take me home.” My tears started to flow. I heard him cursing but I ignored it. I immediately looked for my bag.
I want to go to my son now.
“Answer me Ria. Why? Why did you suddenly ask to go home? Why are you crying?”
“My son. Steven, my son needs me. He was rushed to the hospital. I have to go to him.” I said while crying. I don’t care what would happen. My mind right now, I should go to the hospital for Hivo.
“You have what?” He seemed surprised by what I said.
“I’ll answer everything later but please take me home. My son Steven…he needs me.” I begged him.
I couldn’t even see him clearly because of the tears in my eyes.
“Okay. Let’s go,” he said in a low voice.
We are on his private jet and now we are going home. I don’t care what happens next. What matters to me is my now and nothing else.
I received a text from Divine that I needed to get Hivo’s clothes from home so I told Steven to drop me to Divine’s house where we currently live.
He’s still silent and I don’t know what is going through his mind.
“Thank you for sending me here,” his face was dark. He nodded and immediately drove the car away. He didn’t even say goodbye. There’s a pain in my heart because of that.
I’d like to say everything but I have no time now.
I immediately prepared my son’s clothes and went to the hospital.
“What happened?” I asked when I arrived at the hospital.
“We are still waiting for the doctor’s findings, Ri.” Lia said looking at me seriously.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“Hivo has a fever and we took him to the hospital when he passed out earlier.” Divine said.
It’s my fault.
“Calm down Ri. Everything will be fine.” Angie said.
“Where’s Steven?” Lia asked.
“I don’t know. I think he’s mad. He already knows that I have a child.”
“Where is he?” Angie
“He doesn’t know that he is the father. I think he’s confuse now. I’ll explain everything to him when Hivo is fine.” I said.
I don’t know if I can still talk to Steven again. I don’t know what’s going through his mind right now. What matters to me now is my son’s recovery.
I stood up when the doctor came out.
“Who’s the mother of the child?” he asked.
“I’m the mother, doc,” I said.
“How is my son? What happened?” I asked.
“Your son has dengue. It’s a good thing you brought him here right away.”
What? How can my child get dengue? I always make sure that there’s no place for mosquitoes in the house.
“I think it was at the zoo when Agatha took them there yesterday.” Angie said.
“Thank you doc. Please do everything to save my son,” I begged.
“No worry. It’s my job. I’ll take care of your child. Be ready in case there is an urgent need for the child. Excuse me, I’ll visit my other patients first.” He said.
“Alright doc. Thank you”
“What if a blood donor is needed? Don’t tell me you’re going to send Steven here, Ria?” Lia said. She looks concerned. I do not know why.
“If necessary, yes,” I replied. Because I am type A while Hivo is negative AB. And I know his father has the same blood as him. If my son needs his father’s blood just in case, then I will bring Steven here.
