The Babysitter

Chapter 14: Oh really?

Chapter 14: Oh really?

Chapter 14: (Aubrey's POV)- Oh Really?

It has been about a week and a half since I began babysitting Xavier now. Everything was going nice

and smooth.

We weren't bickering on anything at all anymore and gave each other enough but somehow not

enough space. We were together most of the time since I was always at his house but of course, there

were times where someone was having a bad day and needed some space which was respectfully

given.

Today was just like any other day. I woke up, washed my face, brushed my teeth, chose an outfit, got

dressed, grabbed my keys and phone while plugging in my earphones and heading out. I bobbed my

head while lip-syncing to the songs as usual before I looked up and saw Peter.

Not this again.

I pulled my earphones out without stopping to ride. "Peter, don't do this again," I spoke while trying to

speed up so I could jump onto the sidewalk and keep riding.

"Please Aubrey, just give me a straight answer," he spoke pleadingly.

Just as I was about to swerve and jump on, I saw a mom and a little boy walking, meaning I couldn't

escape. Before I crashed into anything, I pulled my bike to a screeching halt. "Why do you want to

know so badly? What on earth is making this so crucial for you?" I asked while sighing.

He ran his hand through his hair in frustration before giving in and answering. "I want to know because

if you are with him, not saying you are," he put his hands up in surrender. "Then that gives me a reason

to break up with Kylie because she's still obsessed with him," he sighed.

Wait, he wants to break up with Kylie?

"You want to break up with her?" I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"I have been for ages," he groaned. "She's so annoying. I fucked up." He shrugged slightly. "I don't

know how I was stupid enough to do that to you." He ran his hands over his face.

"I don't either," I scoffed under my breath.

He looked me dead in the eyes before cracking a laugh. "Fair enough. I deserve that," he admitted.

I narrowed my eyes down at him, "You deserve a little more than that, don't you think?" I spoke

seriously but his laughter suggested he misunderstood it for sarcasm. I let it go, at least he's civil now.

"Friends?" he looked at me with hopeful eyes.

"Oh hell no." I shook my head laughing humorlessly. "Strangers, if you want to get your apology

accepted then we're back to basics. Square one. Strangers," I stated.

He nodded before reaching his hand out. "Hi, I'm Peter."

Corny much?

I rolled my eyes before shaking his hand. "Aubrey. Who is late thanks to you, bye!" I screamed while

speeding past him.

"Bye!" he yelled back through laughter.

What was so funny? I don't get it. Or he doesn't. I made my way to Xavier's house and got off the bike

before it stopped, walking it to the mailbox. I rang the doorbell and waited patiently for someone to

open the door, but no one did. I checked my phone for the time to realize that Catherine was already at

work by now.

Where the hell was Xavier?

I rang the doorbell two more times but nobody opened it. Frustrated, I bent down, grabbing the spare

key which was for emergencies from the third pot on the right. I opened the door before putting the key

back and making my way inside. This classifies as an emergency okay? I set my things down as usual

and plopped down on the couch, deciding not to announce my arrival like I normally would so I could

see what was taking him so long. I sat on the couch, scrolling through social media until I heard his

door creak open. I stayed rooted to my spot, waiting for the grand reveal. I kept my eyes glued to my This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

phone while looking ever so slightly from my peripheral vision.

And then I saw her.

I saw Julie, making her way down the stairs and to the front door. Her hair was a mess, so were her

clothes since her shirt was inside out, her lipstick was smudged in the corner of her lips, and she was

flustered. I knew what was going on.

Ew!!!!

"Aubrey," she acknowledged me, eyeing me head to toe with a smirk on her face.

"Julie." I nodded at her curtly while eyeing her the same way, staring longer at her shirt.

She got the message and covered it with her arms. "Sorry for taking some of your time, Xavier and I

were just hanging out." She shrugged innocently.

"Hmm, I bet. You've got a little-" I pointed to the corner of her mouth.

Her cheeks reddened in embarrassment before she wiped the corner of her mouth and sprinted, or at

least tried to sprint, out the door.

I bit back a laugh and went upstairs. Time to get on Xavier's nerves for a while. I walked in to see him

throwing a shirt on.

Ew! Not his body ew but what happened ew!

"Someone just had a little something going on in here," I picked up the pillow with my pointer finger and

thumb, looking at it disgustedly.

"Someone seems to be getting unnecessarily involved." He glared at me before running his hand

through his hair, leaving his room, and heading downstairs.

"Don't forget to get new sheets." I smiled at my annoying-ness before following him.

"My sheets are clean," he turned me to with a grin while grabbing an orange which he began peeling.

Confusion graced my face.

"We didn't. With her? I would never," he shook his head. "We were just having fun," he shrugged. "I

don't let girls in my bed. We made out, that's it," he explained.

"If not on the bed then where?" I snatched the orange, taking two pieces for myself before giving it back

to him.

"Mainly against the wall. Wanna see?" He took a step towards me.

I immediately stepped back. "Ha, no thanks. I'll pass." I laughed humorlessly before placing a slice in

my mouth. Not a slice, wait, a piece. Oranges don't have slices what the heck Aubrey? "Wait, you don't

let girls in your bed? People say otherwise." I shrugged while throwing the peels which he left on the

counter away.

"Nope. I wouldn't let a girl touch my bed, let alone lay in it." He scoffed before leaning against the

counter while I washed my hands.

My brows furrowed. "You let me lay in it," I pointed out while turning to face him with my arms folded

across my chest.

"Because my mom said to." He shrugged nonchalantly.

Why is he shrugging at everything?

"Oh really?"

He nodded.

"Right, because she would've checked at midnight," I spoke in fluent sarcasm. I saw him tense in front

of me. Wait, what? I was just kidding but I guess not. This is gonna be fun. "You let me lay in your bed

but wouldn't let any other girl even touch it," I quoted his words. "What's your secret, Parker?" I

narrowed my eyes down at him while resting my arms on the counter beside him, going on my toes in

an effort to be eye to eye.

He smirked, leaning in teasingly, "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." he whispered, his lips almost

touching mine, one inch closer and they'd touch.

"I don't have a secret," I spoke past the lump in my throat and butterflies in my stomach, what the hell

was going on?

"So you're telling me you don't have a cute little crush on me? All that talking wasn't jealousy trying to

get answers?" he pried.

"It was not jealousy!" I defended.

It wasn't! Right?

"It was," he nodded.

"It was not!" I argued. This went on back and forth, back and forth for a while. "Whatever helps you-"

He finished my sentence for me, "Whatever helps me sleep at night, I know! I know!" he sighed before

trapping me between him and the counter. "What helps you sleep at night?" he smirked.

"Lullabies." I patted his chest twice. "Brunch?" I offered.

He groaned in frustration before stepping back. "What would you like?" he asked biting back a smile.

"French toast!"

Geez Aubrey, cheery much?
