Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance

Chapter 444

Chapter 444

Stephania was quick to quip, “Are you implying that I’m a jinx?”

Molly found herself intrigued by Stephania’s unconventional thinking. “You’re quite interesting,

Stephania. I’m starting to like you.”

Sure enough, Jack showed up at Chade Inc. the next day. Molly went to the basement to avoid him.

On the third day, Jack brazenly entered Chade Inc. Molly was irate. She pulled out a pocket knife she

carried around and shouted in the busy lobby, “Alright, Jack, you claim to love me. Prove it. Cut off a

finger to show your love. If you do it, I’ll be your girlfriend. If you don’t, I’ll call the cops if you bother me

again!”

The surrounding crowd quieted down to watch the spectacle unfold.

Jack was taken aback. The Molly he remembered was gentle, intelligent, and elegant, not this fiery,

unpredictable, and arrogant woman. “Molly, stop this nonsense.”

“I mean it, Jack. Either show me a severed finger, or stay away from me forever!”

After saying that, Molly stormed out of the lobby leaving Jack standing in awkward silence.

Molly had already rejected Jack multiple times. She told her mother, “Mom, it’s not about saving dignity.

If he keeps this up, he’s just proving himself to be a creep. He’s not just pursuing me. He’s harassing

me.”

Coleen was furious. “Your father and brother aren’t home, but it doesn’t mean he can walk all over us.”

Coleen called for the manager over the intercom, “Manager, come upstairs.”

She sent her daughter off to work.

For safety’s sake, Molly called her nephew. “Leo, are you free?”

“I’m busy,” Leo replied.

He had lost weight, but his muscles had become more defined. He was no longer the pushover he

used to be.

“That’s a shame,” Molly said.

“Are you asking me to be your chauffeur again?”

Molly explained, “Jack’s been bothering me. He’s been loitering outside my office.”

Leo paused before saying, “Don’t leave the building. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

When Leo arrived, he found Jack still in the lobby. He walked over and sat down across from Jack.

“Congrats, Jack. You’ve taken over your father’s shares and pushed him out of the company. You’re the

boss now.”

Jack treated Leo with newfound respect. “Mr. Leo, it was just a family matter, nothing like the rumors

suggest. My father’s getting old. It’s natural for me to take over. I still fulfill my duties as a son.”

Leo scratched his ear thoughtfully. “That’s a nice way to put it. I may not be in the business world, but

I’m Andre’s nephew. I know enough. Jack, you went against your father’s wishes, forcefully taking his

shares and pushing him out. Your so-called ‘duties as a son’ is more like a death sentence.”

Jack didn’t argue. His mother was right. If his father had any shares, he’d surely leave them to his

illegitimate daughter. It was better for Jack to have control over them.

Seeing Molly’s pocket knife on the table, Leo picked it up. “So you’ve already met her. Jack, do you

think it’s easier for an ant to kill an elephant, or for an elephant to crush an ant?”

Jack was puzzled. “Obviously, it’s easier for the elephant to crush the ant.”

Leo toyed with Molly’s pocket knife. “Then why are you daring to go head-to-head with the Cedillo

Group Empire using your small company, Ashford Inc.?”

Jack turned to look at Leo, but Leo ignored him. “Your little company isn’t even worth being a branch of

the Cedillo Group. And yet, you have the audacity to try to win over a woman. Overestimating your

abilities, aren’t you?”

Jack felt humiliated. He gritted his teeth. “My love for Jade is genuine. Even if you acquire my

company, I won’t care.”

Leo scoffed, looking at him. “Are you sure your love for Jade is genuine?” Or was it Molly?

Leo had done some research on his way over. Jack hadn’t shown his face to Molly for a while.

Moreover, after taking over the company, he’d been living it up. Why would he suddenly pursue Molly

so fervently? That was not his style.

Men understand men’s baser instincts. People often say women are the most realistic. But men are

even more so. If Jack knew that Jade was actually Molly Cedillo, heiress of the Cedillo Group, how

could he sit still? Marrying her would mean becoming the Cedillo family’s son-in-law. He could gain

powerful connections. His brother-in-law was the mayor. And the business world’s tycoon was his other

brother-in-law. The Cedillo Group would support him financially.

Even a fool would know that marrying Molly meant going from rags to riches.

Women are often easily swayed by sweet words, but men are a different story.

Molly’s excellent personality and background made her irresistible to men, but Leo was curious. How

did Jack find out that Molly was Jade?

Jack met Leo’s gaze, continuing to feign ignorance. “Yes.” He had indeed been unaware that Jade was

Molly. He’d thought Jade was just close to the Cedillo family’s Leo and Mia. He hadn’t expected them

to be family!

It all started the day he was suddenly taken in for questioning by the police.

Mr. Marlow and Finley were caught by Chad in a covert operation. They had transferred domestic black

money overseas through a company, indirectly causing domestic property loss.

However, Mr. Marlow was a high-level figure, and the matter was of great importance, so the people

involved in the investigation were all controlled. The higher-ups wanted to re-investigate the matter.

Chad, who was directly responsible for the matter, revealed his entire investigation process. During

this, he mentioned Ashford Inc.

“After the Marshal Group was acquired, there’s evidence that Finley, Marlow, and others have met with

the CEO of Ashford Inc., Jack.”

“Chad, when did you find out they were moving assets this way?”
