Chapter 53 Envy
While standing by the bed, the three children observed Calvin feeding Jocelyn closely.
Tammy felt delighted because she always loved to see those touching scenes.
Sean was so moved that he wanted to draw a picture of how Calvin took care of Jocelyn.
He imagined Jocelyn and her children moving in with them if she and Calvin got married someday. He was happy to have three more people joining his family.
He really liked Tammy and thought she was adorable.
Sean didn't particularly like Jeffrey for reasons including his aloof demeanor and the strange way he spoke. What he hated most was that Jeffrey wouldn't let him hang out with Tammy.
Sean believed that if Jeffrey didn't exist, he could spend as much time as he wanted with Tammy.
All three children looked at them seriously as Calvin fed Jocelyn, which made her feel a little embarrassed. Jocelyn told the kids, "Jeffrey, Tammy, Sean, why don't you three hang out outside? I'm not over my cold yet. I don't want you guys to get sick too!"
Jocelyn's fever had subsided, but she still suffered from discomfort and a slightly runny nose. She worried that she would infect the children with the flu.
"Jeffrey, how about we go outside and play?" Tammy asked.
Jeffrey decided to stay in the room to watch them in case Jocelyn fell in love with Calvin.
Tammy took Sean's hand and said, "Sean, let's go paint!" as she could tell that Jeffrey didn't want to leave.
Sean nodded and ran out of the room with Tammy while holding her hand.
"Hey!"
Things happened so quickly that by the time Jeffrey realized what was happening, Tammy had already left with Sean.
Jeffrey was upset about this because he didn't say anything about staying.
He thought, "Tammy, how could you do this to me? I am your brother, but he isn't!"
Jeffrey pouted in discontent and dashed forward to catch up with them.
Jocelyn was almost done with her meal when the kids left.
Calvin asked her coldly, "Are you full? How are you feeling?"
"I'm full!"
Jocelyn thought it was the most incredible day ever because the most eligible bachelor in the city had just fed her lunch. She couldn't imagine anything more satisfying.
Calvin dropped the bowl onto the tray and grumbled, "No more of these childish tricks! I'm not falling for your ruses again!"
He then rose to leave.
Jocelyn stopped him and asked, "Where are you going, Mr. Austin? Don't you want to stay here with me?"
"I have work to do. You can play games here on your own."
Calvin handed her an iPad so she could kill time alone.
"Forget it. I'd better not do anything out of the line. It would be terrible if he became enraged and threw me out of the house!" Jocelyn thought to herself.
Jocelyn quickly adapted to her new surroundings and altered how she saw things. She could rest well at Calvin's house and was well cared for here. She planned to consider her revenge later when she had more free time.
...
Jocelyn and Calvin slept on opposite sides of the border that night, as they had agreed.
A "click" sound woke Jocelyn up in the early morning. When she opened her eyes, she found that Calvin was taking pictures of her with his cell phone.
"Hey! What are you doing? Why are you taking pictures of me?"
Jocelyn scrambled to cover her face by holding her head with her hands. Her unwashed face was bare of makeup, and her hair was unkempt, making her worried that the photographs he took would tarnish people's perceptions of her.
"You have crossed the line!"
Calvin raised his phone to show her how she had crossed the line. He'd gotten the evidence but was curious how she'd explain herself.
Jocelyn froze, surprised that he had taken photos of her just to record her crossing the line.
She found it difficult to believe he was so strict with her.
But she could do nothing about it because she had devised the system herself. She had to follow the rules no matter what.
"Fine! I'm going to make us some breakfast now."
Jocelyn ruffled her messy hair, put on her slippers, and stormed out of the room.
Calvin couldn't help but smile softly as he watched her flee in a panic because she reminded him of a cute little rabbit.
As Jocelyn entered the kitchen, she noticed several cooks were busy preparing breakfast. She greeted them and told them what had happened before beginning to cook herself.
Beatrice came downstairs after a while. When she noticed Jocelyn busy in the kitchen preparing breakfast, she exclaimed, "Jocelyn, why did you wake up so early? What are you doing?"
"Good morning, Mom. I'm making breakfast." Jocelyn smiled and turned around to respond.
"You don't have to do that, Jocelyn! The cooks can make breakfast for you. How can you start doing housework when you feel a little better?"
Beatrice stopped Jocelyn because she thought she should have some rest after she had just recovered.
"It's okay, Mom. I'm fully recovered, so I can totally make breakfast for us. Please wait a little while. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes."
Jocelyn insisted on making breakfast independently and appeared very skilled at it. Beatrice nodded, knowing Jocelyn wasn't as spoiled as the other rich girls she knew.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Jocelyn surprised Beatrice by proving that rich girls could do housework just as well as anyone else. Beatrice thought her son was fortunate to marry a perfect woman.
Calvin and Sean came downstairs after Jocelyn had finished making breakfast.
They were both distinguished and handsome, and their suits were the same color.
Sean not only resembled Calvin in appearance but the way he walked. In all, he looked like a mini replica of Calvin.
Jocelyn couldn't help but sigh when she saw how much they resembled each other. When she looked at Sean, her expression turned gentle, and her eyes filled with love.
She felt sorry for Sean because he was raised without a mother. She vowed to treat Sean as if he were her son as long as he didn't mind.
When Jeffrey and Tammy ran down the stairs, Calvin and Sean had just taken their seats by the table.
The first thing Jeffrey did when he saw Jocelyn after running to the restaurant was to say hello to her. "Good morning, Mommy!"
"Good morning, Jeffrey."
"Good morning, Mommy!"
Tammy dashed over to Jocelyn with her arms open as soon as she saw her. She flew like a small bird into Jocelyn's arms and kissed her cheek.
Jocelyn kissed Tammy on the cheek and said, "Good morning, Tammy."
"My dear mommy!" Tammy gave Jocelyn another kiss while grinning.
"My dear baby!" Jocelyn kissed her daughter back.
Calvin was speechless after seeing the two of them kissing each other. He thought that their actions were not only too cheesy but also unsanitary.
He even thought Jocelyn was doing it to brag about having a daughter.
Sean was envious after he saw Tammy and Jocelyn's interaction in silence.
He hadn't seen his mother since he was born. When he asked his father and grandmother about it, they only told him that his mother had left to go somewhere far away and would return when he was older.
He had no idea how long he would have to wait for his mother to return.
He couldn't help but wonder what his mother would be like and if she would be as gentle as Jocelyn.
