Dagger
Alexander hummed while nodding his head, though Amelia had nothing to do with them again but they were still her parents.
“I was thinking, why don’t you be my assistant in the meantime??” Alexander proposed all of a sudden making Amelia’s eyes wide in shock.
“What about your assistant?? What’s going to happen to him or perhaps her?” Amelia asked feeling lost with the new arrangement.
“I assigned him to a different task elsewhere, as it’s getting bloody these days and the matter with The Red Kings, I don’t want him involved so he should remain unaware of this happenings!” Alexander said as a matter of fact and Amelia nodded her head in agreement but then Again, she frowned
“As your assistant, he should be aware of your second,-ahem… identity right??” An assistant was a person’s right hand so he should be well aware and informed about Alexander’s deals.
“I separate Ron’s business from the underworld, he doesn’t know and won’t ever know”
“You don’t trust him enough?”
That was the only reason Amelia could think of.
“You ask too many questions, well – I hope you know that I’m not that dumb to employ someone I don’t trust to myself as an assistant,” Alexander said neutrally as he folded both arms on his chest area. That leisure posture made him charming as his hair was clean and arranged without any stride off the length.
Amelia didn’t say a word and silently agreed with him.
He always has a reason for whatever he does.
“Come, let’s get going already, tomorrow I’ll take you to the office” Alexander urged her to go out.
How could Amelia not know that he wanted to employ her as his assistant to protect her, if she was in his sight always, she would be safe.
Amelia looked up at the man who was walking ahead of her with a straight back, she didn’t know why he was always doing things for her when she thought of it, he was a nice guy not what people portrayed him to as the devil himself.
But why??
That question was left unanswered but then again;
‘He’s probably doing it for his father’s sake and he feels responsible for her since she was in a contract with him, so he has no choice but to protect her until the contract expires’
He’s just feeling responsible for her, it’s not out of concern. he doesn’t have a choice.
That must be it, Amelia found answers by herself but it was indeed saddening
“Argh” Amelia grumbled as she almost hit herself to come out of the stupid fantasy she was having.
Alexander turned towards the girl at the back he saw that she was all red as she kept mumbling to herself.
He had heard her groaning sound so he turned to her but she was too lost in lecturing herself for some reasons unknown to him.
“Amelia, get your head straight….” Amelia kept muttering that to herself like a mantra
She didn’t even notice that Alexander had stopped in his movement and she was walking towards him.
Alexander stood in place and watched the girl who had her head facing the ground while muttering inaudible speech to herself.
“I can’t be like this, he isn’t at all nice… He-ouch…” Amelia hissed in pain as she held her forehead and looked up straight to see what she had bumped into.
Alexander didn’t say anything as he stared at the little lamb of a girl, she wasn’t this stupid before, what’s gotten into her??
Amelia’s face reddened again when she saw his questioning gaze “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you stopped walking!” That was what she had intended to say but that didn’t come out of her mouth as it was just a thought, she felt vexed that he was aware that she was gonna bump into him but he didn’t stop her
“Why did you stop walking?? My head hurts now, how could you be so mean?” Amelia said with red eyes and that made Alexander more confused, Amelia felt frustrated at the guy giving her a quizzical look.
“Forget about it….” Amelia hissed in fury and walked out.
Alexander didn’t even know what he did as he just shrugged and walked behind her.
“Damn man! Here I was, thinking he is a little nice, nice my ass!” Amelia snorted coldly and made her way out towards the big gate.
“Hey wait up” Alexander called out
Amelia sighed and swallowed a lump of Silva in her throat, she isn’t supposed to feel this way, but wait.. what way was she feeling??
She didn’t even know but all she knew was she should get her thoughts together and avoid being too entangled with Alexander.
Yes, that was what she should do!
With that reassurance, she immediately wore her neutral and natural expression, looking more business like at the moment, and replied :
” What is it??” She answered more calmly this time.
You got it right, this is how she should be like, their relationship was that of an employee and employer.
“Wait a moment, let me call the guy who went to park my car earlier ” Alex said and dug his hand into his pocket brought out his model phone and dialed a series of numbers, not long, the call went through
“Seventeen, get the car over!” He said expressionlessly and soon hung up after that statement, turning to the calm-looking Amelia , he said:
“He’ll be here soon!” Alexander said and stared at her for a while but she just nodded and didn’t spare him another glaze again.
He was a bit displeased but he didn’t linger in that feeling and waited for seventeen to bring the car over.
Soon enough, seventeen arrived and handed the Keys over to Alexander respectfully.
Amelia immediately went to the back seat and Alexander’s expression immediately droppedThis content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“You didn’t tell me I’ve suddenly become your driver” Alexander’s’ tone was full of sarcasm as he entered the driver’s seat.
Amelia didn’t say a word and entered the passenger’s seat.
“Those men I saw with you the night before….” Amelia didn’t complete her statement as Alexander cut her off
“They’re my friends from childhood and my Allies,” He said indifferently and Amelia didn’t say anything again.
Alexander turned to her and saw her looking outside, he return his gaze to the road before saying all of a sudden:
“Take it..”
Amelia turned her head towards his direction and saw that he was handing her that same dagger she had taken a liking to earlier, she had thought he wouldn’t give it to her.
“You don’t have to thank me, I don’t like it whenever you thank me, so I don’t want to hear it!”
