Winston’s eyes were filled with surprise. He knew Millie had been acting crazy lately, but he never expected her to say something like this!
“Millie, do you know what you’re saying?” Winston took a step forward and gripped Millie’s wrist tightly.
Millie bit her lower lip when she felt the pain in her wrist. She could feel him exerting force after she said she wanted Joanna to die. Clearly, it had angered him.
If Joanna died, she wouldn’t be able to escape.
Millie raised her head and stared at the man she had loved for many years. There was no longer any
love in her eyes, but unfamiliarity instead.
Before, she thought that if she stopped loving Winston one day, life would lose its meaning. Now, she realized that she could live a more meaningful life if she did not love Winston.
Millie smiled, her eyes narrowing. She hooked onto Winston’s collar with her fingertips and pulled him
forward.
In the dim corridor, Millie’s face lacked luster. The outline of her face was blurred, making her look
hazy.
Winston frowned. He stumbled forward and reached out to put his hand against the wall to stop
himself from falling..
Millie chuckled lightly in his ear, her tone filled with charm and arrogance. “I said, I want her dead!”
Winston felt his ear tingle.
He lifted his hand to push her away. His expression darkened, and his eyes burned with fury.
Millie took a few steps back and leaned against the wall. She laughed maniacally, resembling a mad
but beautiful woman.
“Millie, you’re crazy!” Winston pointed at her. Yet, he had to admit that for a moment there, he had no way to deal with her.
“There’s nothing bad about becoming crazy,” Millie slurred after sighing.
Seeing that Winston no longer stopped her, she walked away. However, she turned back to look at him as she had suddenly thought of something.
As the warm yellow light shone on her, she smiled bitterly. Her tone was cold as she said, “Do you think crazies know what love is?”
Winston’s eyes were dark as he glared at Millie. He clenched his right fist slowly, feeling the temperature around him drop.
Do crazies know what love was? Millie was really insane. She had even started to spew nonsense!
Their gazes met and everything fell silent.
“1
Millie stopped forcing a smile and her eyes dimmed. She muttered in a voice that only she could hear,” Winston, only a crazy person would have loved you unconditionally for seven years.”
He couldn’t hear what she was saying, but he could see her lips moving slightly and her sorrow.
Millie turned around and left quickly.
Winston stood in his spot. For some reason, it felt like his heart was empty and a sense of pain gnawed at him. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
He had wanted to seek justice for Joanna after Millie hurt her, but when he saw Millie leaving him like this, he felt extremely uneasy.
All of a sudden, Winston heard Jake tutting from behind him.
He turned around only to see Jake in a long–sleeved white button down. His suit jacket was draped
over his arm as he repeated what Millie said in amusement, “Do you think crazies… know what love is?
Winston’s brow furrowed immediately. He questioned, “Jake, you eavesdropped on us?”
“Excuse me, how could you say that? I just overhead. I just happened to be on my way to the washroom…” Jake pouted, looking aggrieved.
“But why did you come late? What were you busy with? You missed quite a show!” Jake walked over and put an arm around Winston’s shoulder.
However, Winston was too preoccupied to pay attention to what Jake was saying.
After Millie left the corridor, she planned to say goodbye to Selma before leaving. However, when she reached the wine tower, she bumped into Joanna.
Joanna was talking to a male waiter, and then they both nodded. Joanna met Millie’s eyes the moment she looked up.
Winston’s black suit jacket was still over Joanna’s shoulders. She was holding a glass of wine and looking at Millie with hostility.
Millie glanced at the waiter and then at Joanna. She ignored Joanna, planning to walk past her to
leave.
