Shattered Vows Shining Comeback

Chapter 44

Chapter 44 Aren’t You Tired of This?

Jake couldn’t turn a blind eye and ignore everything. He was determined to bring Gwen away, even if it was against her

wishes.

When Jake got upstairs, he overheard that Carson had been injured. Seeing Gwen’s calm expression, he realized he had wrongly blamed her.

A dull ache tugged at his chest.

Gwen’s cold, mocking stare from across the room felt like an invisible slap to Jake. He couldn’t muster the courage to walk over, let alone accuse her.

Trust? It was something he had failed to give her throughout their marriage.

As Gwen walked out of the hotel, an ambulance arrived. The doctors rushed into the hotel with stretchers. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

She called the butler to send a car over, briefly glancing at Jake in his suit.

“I’ll give you a ride,” Jake offered in a flat voice that was tinged with negotiation.

Gwen’s gaze was sharp and cold. “No thanks. I don’t want to dirty your car, Mr. Hall,” she rejected.

“What happened earlier was my fault,” he said with a hint of dejection in his tone. “As for what

Caitlyn and Sienna did to you, I apologize on their behalf.”

Gwen took a step back, her demeanor indifferent. “There’s no need to apologize.”

“Why didn’t you tell me how hard these past three years have been for you?”

He only learned the truth after she had already left. Even now, when asking her, he had to be cautious with his words.

Gwen had long lost her patience. “Mr. Hall, aren’t you tired of this? What’s the point of dwelling on it now? Where were you before?”

A cold heart felt no warmth for late affection.

The driver arrived in a Porsche. Gwen entered the car without a glance back.

Jake stood there, lost in thought.

When Gwen returned home, she took a bath and lay in bed. Her phone buzzed continuously with messages from her group of friends.

She picked a photo of Carson and sent it to the group chat. Then, she recounted her battle and how she had used her high heels as a weapon in the group chat,

YourHeartsDesire: “Wow. Girl, you’re amazing!

“That black belt in kickboxing wasn’t just for show!

“Ugh. He’s so gross, especially in white underwear. My eyes hurt!!!”

MelodicMoments:“Should I delete it?”

YourHeartsDesire: “No! Let me show it to my dog to gross him out.”

Peace All: “Great angles! You should come be my photographer some day.”

Endless Love: “Girl, your skills are incredible!”

The group chat erupted in laughter.

No one expected Gwen’s message to bring Xenia out of her hiding.

d Gwen’s message to bring Xe

Xenia was the founder of the international jewelry brand, Vere Jewels. Over the years, all the jewelry she produced had

been deemed premium by the auction houses in Beldora. The city’s socialites viewed wearing jewelry from Vere as a status symbol.

YourHeartsDesire: “Wow! The eternal lurker has finally spoken! Let’s bombard her with emojis!”

Endless Love: “I’m in Pearlmont for an exhibition. I’ll be back in Bellmont City in a few days. We should meet up.” MelodicMoments: “Ryan is also in town. Have you been in touch?”

Xenia disappeared again at the mention of Ryan’s name.

Peace4All: “Call me if there’s anything.”

Gwen chuckled and set her phone down. These trivial matters among friends weren’t taken seriously. No one took

them to heart.

However, she had not expected that Xenia was still reluctant to talk about Ryan..

The three of them had grown up together. Xenia had feelings for Ryan since she was young, but she had never confessed due to her shyness. In the end, she lost her chance.

Ryan had grown famous and was constantly surrounded by beautiful women. With her strong pride, Xenia never mentioned her feelings again.

Gwen wanted to beat some sense into Xenia. They were in the same city! Xenia needed to make a move.

Gwen planned to give Xenia some proper lessons when she returned to Bellmont City.

After chatting one–on–one with Yara for a while, Gwen drifted to sleep with her phone in her hand.

The next morning, Gwen arrived at the office feeling rejuvenated. She noticed the envious looks of the female employees.

It wasn’t until she reached the lobby that she noticed why–yesterday’s bouquet of roses had arrived once again.

Neptune roses were rare in Bellmont City. This was a clear indication that Ryan had too much money and nowhere to spend it.

Gwen called her assistant and instructed her to distribute the flowers to her female colleagues whenever she received

any.

When she opened the door to her office, she found Carson waiting for her on crutches.
