Gwen instinctively shifted to the next seat to put some distance from him when she picked up the overwhelming cigarette smoke on Carson’s body.

Gwen flashed him a smirk as she raised a brow. “Did you invite me to dinner just so you could heap praises on me?”

“Of course not. I’m just curious about Jake Hall’s woman. How different does it feel inside her?” The smile on his face. deepened. He fixed his lustful gaze on Gwen.

“Ms. Lawson, don’t you worry. I have it arranged.” His smile widened when he showed her the room card from the hotel across the road. “I’ll be waiting for you.”

“Just as you said, I am with Mr. Duncan now. Aren’t you scared that I’ll tell him about this?” She shot him an amused smile in an attempt to read his emotions.

As expected, he looked flustered but quickly hid it by laughing heartily. “You’re just a secretary who happened to enjoy the title of Mrs. Hall for a short time. Our CEO Mr. Duncan doesn’t take you seriously.

“If anything, he’s only humoring you over the information you hold against the Hall Group. You’re a disposable plaything. I’m sure he doesn’t mind his employee enjoying you.”

Carson was bold for fantasizing about sleeping with her.

“Mr. Lowe, your analysis sounds about right.” She sipped her red wine with a smile.

He continued, “You’ve just taken over, and you don’t have the influence yet. You will definitely change Mr. Duncan’s perception of you if you take part in Quantum Corporation’s medical research project.

“So, I take it that you’re willing to share the inside scoop with me.” Gwen pretended to look nervous to fool him into thinking that she cared about the news.

“Of course. If you stay, you get to hear it.” Carson had had many lewd thoughts about Gwen. He thought, “You bitch! It’s time to show you what I’m made of when I conquer you in bed!”

Bradley watched their interaction from afar, and he thought there was something between them. He elbowed Jake.

“Bro, see that? Your ex–wife is close to her employee. Why does it look like she’s seducing him?”

“You see it that way because you have a head full of dirty thoughts. Watch your mouth,” warned Jake.

Bradley pouted and took a mouthful of food in silence. He and Jake had decided to have dinner at The Tellerson, not expecting to run into Gwen and Carson.

Jake watched the scene unfold with increasing hostility. When Gwen left for the five–star hotel across the road with Carson, Jake’s coldness transformed into fury.

He seethed. “Is that woman seriously sleeping with another man?” How could Gwen turn into such an easy woman after the divorce?
