See You Never, Mr. Lamont

Chapter 41

Chapter 41

Chapter 41 Don’t You Feel Guilty? “How did you get involved with Waldron?” The man’s words were thick with dissatisfaction, “When your grandmother passed away, I thought you would let us take action. But why is it that when you contact me, it’s to investigate another man…” Claudia didn’t say a word, patiently waiting for him to finish his complaints. After/complaining, the man immediately realized that he had become overly agitated. Whatever she did, it was not his place to give directions. The man guiltily said, “I’m sorry, I was too excited. I’ll check it right away.” “Um, let’s find out who was behind this.” She clearly heard what Edmond and Ervin said, Waldron’s incident was no accident. She could handle her grandmother’s affairs on her own, without the need for Enigma’s intervention. However, the matter of Waldron, with its complex and tangled reasons behind, forced her to utilize the connections of Enigma. After hanging up the phone, Claudia headed toward the hospital. Just as she reached the entrance, a voice stopped her. It was Elva. Upon seeing Claudia, Elva was both angry and jealous. Rosalie had received the test results and showed them to her. Astonishingly, this Claudia was indeed the Seraphina who had gone missing from the Friedan family. She greedily stared at Claudia’s face, wishing she could be her. “Ms. Friedan,” Claudia called out to her, her voice cold and detached. The last time she fell into the water left her with no good feelings toward Elva. She couldn’t understand why Elva would invade her privacy and set her up. Seeing her indifferent attitude toward herself, Elva didn’t get annoyed. As she walked, she sized up Claudia. “I heard that my brother was hit by a car on his way to pick you up?”

Claudia stood still, her gaze icy. Elva’s icy words were like sharp spi kes, piercing straight into one’s heart: “If it weren’t for you, Waldron wouldn’t have been in trouble. Don’t you feel guilty?” Her words were like pearls, each one sharp as a knife.

However, Claudia was not buying her story. “My guilt was toward Waldron, what does it have to do with you?” Her languid voice was like a kitten scratching at your heart. Elva’s face looked extremely unpleasant. “Ms. Friedan, I don’t know what grudge you hold against me, but I have a bad temper, so it’s best not to provoke me.” She turned and walked toward the elevator, and Elva followed her. Claudia pretended not to see her, and as she stepped out of the elevator, Elva deliberately bumped into her. “Sorry, but who asked you to block the way?” Elva strutted out with an air of arrogance, and Claudia sneered, asking, “Elva, what path of yours have I exactly blocked?” “Snooping on my privacy, always on guard when I interact with the Friedan family, what exactly are you afraid of?” She was no fool, she could see right through everything Elva did, both overtly and covertly. Elva turned her head away in panic. What a joke, I, Elva, have never been afraid of anyone.” Elva lifted her chin, giving her a sidelong glance, “I just can’t stand you, so what if I bully you? Why don’t you fight back?” Elva was closing in, step by step. The thought that Claudia had become the last of her line filled her mind with schemes of tormenting her. What could a person without family backing do, even if they were bullied? As long as she was there, she would ensure that Seraphina could never return home.

She smugly reached out to pinch Claudia’s face, but Claudia firmly grasped her fingers instead. A wave of intense pain spread from her fingers throughout her entire body. Elva looked at Claudia in surprise, not understanding how such a delicate girl could possess such strength. Chapter 41 Dont “Let go!” She tried to pull away, but Claudia held her fingers in a strange grip that immobilized her. Pain radiated in waves from his fingers. Tears welled up in Elva’s eyes from the pain, and she couldn’t pry it open with her other hand either. The elevator went up and down, people came and went, all of them witnessed this scene. Elva’s face had turned completely red. Elva couldn’t help but reach out to pull her hair, but Claudia quickly intercepted her with her other hand, pushing her harshly to the side. Elva fell to the ground. “What are you doing?” A furious shout rang out as Derrick rushed out from the corridor, quickly helping Elva up. He looked at Claudia, anger clear in his eyes: “I didn’t expect you to be so malicious.” Had he not seen it with his own eyes, he would have never known that Claudia had such a side to her. Indifference and ferocity were displayed to the fullest on her. “I’m not as malicious as she is.” If it hadn’t been for Elva’s attack, she wouldn’t have bothered to retaliate. She sneered coldly and started to walk toward the corridor, but Derrick quickly blocked her way. “Don’t go in!” Claudia stood still. “Don’t think that just because you’re close with Waldron, you can do whatever you want. I let the incident at the pool slide last time, but just now, I saw you bullying my sister with my own eyes. How do you explain that?” “Ms. Lloyd, I demand an apology!” Derrick reached out and stopped her at the door, making it clear that he didn’t want her to go in. Elva squeezed out a few tears, standing next to Derrick, she

whimpered in complaint, “Brother, my hand hurts so much, it feels like it’s broken.” She lifted her wrist and waved it, with a few fingers hanging loosely, as if she had really broken a bone. Claudia sneered, thinking it was such a waste that this Elva didn’t go for an Oscar. “Mr. Derrick, I don’t have time to argue with you right now. You can ask your sister for the details. An apology is out of the question, I was merely defending myself.” She tried to sidestep Derrick to check on Waldron, but Derrick simply blocked her way with his body. “Ms. Lloyd, my brother is in a coma because of you. My father has instructed that only family members can visit him. Please stop what you’re doing now.” Family, she was naturally not part of Waldron’s family. Claudia stood still, nodding slightly, “Alright, then I won’t go in.” Seeing her being so agreeable, Derrick frowned and said to Elva, “Let’s go.” Watching Elva and Derrick leave, she stood for a while before heading downstairs. Derrick had just said that Waldron was still unconscious. Guilty, how could I not feel guilty. Waldron, he was her friend! Slowly, I walked downstairs to my grandmother’s sickroom. Just as I was about to push the door open, I heard laughter and cheerful chatter from inside. “Cicely, did you like the meal I made? If you did, I’ll make it for you again.” It was Rosalie’s voice. “I like everything you do, but I like it even more when you call me mom,” Cicely’s voice was filled with joy. Upon hearing this, Claudia knew that her mother-in-law’s memory had not yet returned. Pushing open the door, Rosalie was feeding her grandmother. Upon seeing her, Cicely’s expression was no longer as resistant as before. Rosalie’s eyes flickered a few times, she put the bowl aside, and said to Cicely, “I have something to discuss with Ms. Lloyd, Cicely, wait for me.” She quickly walked over and slowly closed the door behind her. “Are you divorced?” Rosalie asked expectantly. The corners of Claudia’s lips curled up as she said softly, “Ms. Clayton, have you ever heard of a cooling-off period after divorce? Unfortunately, you still have to wait another month.” “It’s okay.” Rosalie laughed, “I’ve waited for so long, waiting another month won’t make a difference.” “Just in this past month, I was able to thoroughly prepare for my wedding. I even wanted to invite Ms. Lloyd to be my officiant!”
