Chapter 17
After wiping away the blood stains on his face, Mayra threw the tissues into the bin. However, there were still some remnants on his hair that needed to be cleaned with a wet towel.
Anderson crossed his legs and looked at her. "I have to head to Candor City for a business trip. Why?"
Mayra's eyes instantly widened and she quickly shook her hand. "It's nothing. I was just asking."
It was a good thing he was busy. To be honest, Mayra didn't want him to attend the parent-teacher meeting.
His identity attracted too much attention. Mayra didn't want people to know that her non-biological brother was actually the president of the Everton Corporation. She just wanted to peacefully finish high school.
However, her actions completely gave her away. Anderson understood her well. Mayra was all grown up now and it was normal for her to have secrets.
He reached out and gently patted her head. "It'll be morning soon. You should go to bed."
Mayra nodded and got up from the couch. "Andy, I'm heading to bed now. You should get some rest too."
Noticing the snacks on the floor, Anderson asked with a cold voice, "Who were you out with?"
Mayra randomly came up with a lie. "Isn't it the weekend tomorrow? I didn't feel like cooking so I just grabbed some snacks to munch on. We have a mock exam next week so I have to focus on my studies."
She quickly picked up the snacks on the ground and hurried back to her room, not giving Anderson another chance to notice anything unusual.
From the beginning, Anderson had been opposed to her being friends with Gordan. But Gordan was actually really kind, so she couldn't seem to figure out why Anderson hated him so much.
Even in her past life, while they were both in different industries and pioneers in their respective fields, they were sworn enemies. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Belchester City wasn't particularly big, so there wasn't room for the both of them. The reason why Gordan later ended up losing to Anderson was because of her…
Upon returning to her room and brushing her teeth, Mayra laid on her bed and quickly fell asleep. By the time she woke up, it was already almost noon.
Mayra noticed that besides the thin blanket covering her, there was also a black suit jacket. Mayra was instantly energized.
Grabbing the black jacket, she slipped on her shoes and walked out of her room. However, she found the living room empty. Anderson seemed to have already left.
Turning around, she noticed a table full of food. She slowly walked over and realized that they were all her favorite dishes.
Noticing that the dishes were still warm, Mayra thought Anderson hadn't left yet. She called out, "Andy?"
However, to her disappointment, she didn't get any response. She sighed. Anderson was truly the perfect brother. Quickly washing up, Mayra gobbled down the food and began revising.
The weather was scorching hot, so leaving the food outside would cause it to go bad. Therefore, Mayra decided to store them in the fridge.
…
Anderson sat in the backseat with his eyes closed while Shane drove. Soon, they arrived at a quiet alley. "Mr. Barlow, we're here."
Anderson opened his eyes and murmured, "Paramount hall…"
