Chapter 99
ATLAS'S POV
"Any news about Athena?"
"Nothing."
I flung the phone I was holding. I was tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. It's been Eighteen good years.
Eighteen years, but Athena was still yet to be found. I could barely sleep at night now: The thoughts of Athena going missing because of my negligence kept on nagging me.
Aunt Janice trusted me with her daughter, but I was unable to protect and keep her safe. She said something about everything happening for the best, but I knew she never really thought that way. She was definitely not happy about losing her child and I knew for sure that is she had known that Elaina would go missing if she left her with me, she would not have left her with me. How Athena on the other hand went missing was something I just could not understand.
She was crying of thirst and I had gone to her water, but when I came back for her, she was nowhere to be found. It was like she had disappeared into thin air.
My mind flickered back to when we were still children. Apart from the guilt I felt for loosing the Beta's daughter, I missed Athena.
I recalled how much people avoided her because they all thought she was sick, but to me, that was far from the case. To me, there was nothing wrong with Athena. She was just like any other regular kid. Just much more stronger but I liked it. With her, I felt I had an equal as a child. Conri came close, but Athena was better.
I had to find her no matter what. I just hoped she was still alive.
"Alpha Atlas." I turned away from the balcony to the door. Conri was at the door and my heart fell. I wondered what he thought whenever he saw me. This is the wolf that lost my sister. That's probably what he thinks. He probably could not say so because I was his Alpha. "Conri, how are you doing?"
"I'm great." He replied. I gave him a small nod and turned back to the balcony and to the thoughts of Athena that bugged
1. me.
Conri joined me and after a while of silence, he said something. Don't you think searching for my long lost twin is a waste. of time? It's been eighteen years of the search for Athena, but we have gotten nothing."
I frowned. "I'm not stopping until I have found her."
"I know you're doing this because you feel guilty, but we have moved on and I think you should-"
"Don't you miss her? Because I do," I said and he threw his face away from me.
"Well, it as been so long. I have gotten used to being without her Conri said casually and I turned frowned at his words.
"Even if it takes a thousand years, I'm not stopping until I find Athena."
Conri sighed. "To be sincere, at first, I was happy when Athena got missing. I used to be very scared of her and I was jealous of how much attention she got from my parents. I knew she needed that attention, but I was a child too and Athena was taking all the attention I deserved." His eyes fell to the floor. "Even from
you too."
"Is that why you don't want her back? Are you scared that she will take all the attention like she did when we were younger?"
He shook his head. "Of course not. I am no longer a child. I want her back. She is my sister after all." He sighed again. "I just feel it is impossible. It's been eighteen years. We don't even know what she looks like." "Of course we do. She looks like your dad."
"There are tons of she-wolves with light features like my dad. Plus, how do you know she has not dyed her hair? What if she's a brunette now?"
I clenched my fists and barred my teeth at him. "Stop it," I snarled and he looked away.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
He was still at the balcony with him and no, he did not stop talking. "What about your Luna? I heard you rejected your mate when you found her. Why did you do it?"
I honestly did not know why I rejected her.
"Finding Athena is the only thing on my mind right now. I don't want another she-wolf that would most probably try to stop me from finding Athena."
Conri raised an eyebrow. "Are you interested in my twin sister. Mind you, she-"
"Didn't you say that it's impossible to find her. You've given up on her, so she's no longer your business. Mind your business." "Okay," Conri said with a slackened face. He turned to the door. "I'll take my leave now."
I did not bother to spare him even a glance and I heard him walk away.
My mind flickered to I saw Elaina. I was expecting today to be like the meet and mate ceremonies I have been attending. To my surprise, Elaina came into the picture and it seemed like she had no idea that I was her mate and it made me wonder if she was living under the rock.
She left before I could talk to her, so I decided to trail her and I met her in the garden. I did not want to hurt anybody, but with a straight face, I made sure I rejected her. I was not ready to get a Luna yet and I was not getting any until I found Athena.
I still remained in the balcony. My eyes were on the balcony of the building opposite the one I was in. Someone was there and I watched as the person climbed the balcony.
I froze, wondering what was happening. I quickly ran through the door and outside my room to the building the person was

When I got there, who I saw shocked me.
