Chapter 2 Beg Me
Chapter 2 Beg Me
Adelaide’s mind went completely blank at once and her ears were humming. She was befuddled and
there was only one message left in her mind.
She was pregnant.
She did not know whether to cry or smile. The child had come at a bad timing.
She had not slept for the whole night. Her mind was full of Antonio’s look and words when he left. He
would definitely not let her keep the child…She caressed her tummy and made a decision that she
would not dare to think of before. When the dawn broke, she hurried to the hospital, got the checkup
report and staggered all the way to the exit. She could not even manage to apologize after bumping
into someone.
Clarissa Swift watched her despondent back and wondered the reason her dear sister came to the
hospital. She picked up a document that was dropped onto the ground and her eyes gleamed when
she saw the words “divorce agreement”. That document was exactly dropped by Adelaide when she
bumped into her. She could not help but let out a smile and walked into the hospital to inquire about
Adelaide’s purpose to the hospital.
Adelaide had no idea about all these. She was figuring how to let Antonio consent to the divorce as the
only way to keep the child was to leave him.
One hour later, the door was slammed open and Antonio walked in with a gloomy look. “You’re
pregnant?” He released Clarissa without notice and his voice became deep at once. He had forced
Adelaide to take contraceptive pills every time he made love with her, if she was really pregnant…His
eyes were locked onto her and he hated himself for not being able to read her mind.
Adelaide could not figure out how he managed to know about that that sooner. She could only look at
him in a daze and asked with a bit of anxiety, “How did you know…” At that moment, she covered her
tummy with both hands and stared at him in alarm. Her defensive mode had made Antonio grew even
angrier and he remembered Clarissa’s words. “Antonio, what’s happened between you and sis? Why
does sis want to divorce you when she’s pregnant?”
“Antonio, Channing Darnell has returned to the country few days ago, and I’ve even seen him meeting
sis, right below the Pearl’s Hotel.”
Channing Darnell was Adelaide’s ex-boyfriend. Adelaide was shocked as she had not heard someone
mentioning the name in front of her for a very long time. She was in a down mood due to Antonio’s
indifference few years back and Channing had showed up during that time. He seemed energetic,
positive, cheerful and enthusiastic, yet she had not expected that they were all pretended…Of course,
it did not matter at all, what was important was what happened between her and Channing was spread
all over the place and everyone knew about that. She wondered why Clarissa mentioned him out of the
blue and she had a bad hunch.
As expected, an inexplicable anger rose in Antonio when he heard that name and he mercilessly
tossed her onto the bed. “Pregnant? Divorce? Adelaide Swift, are you challenging my tolerance limit?”
His voice was full of rage that could not be suppressed. He landed a punch on the bed beside her and
the whole bed was trembling. “Tell me, have you gone pregnant of Darnell’s child?”
“I have no idea what are you talking about!” Adelaide retorted slightly hysterically. “The child is yours.
Can you not know about that?” The pain she felt in her heart did not cease. She had gone pregnant
with his child yet he thought she had cuckolded him. “Oh? If the child’s mine, why do you want to
divorce me?” He grabbed her shirt and madly tore her shirt apart. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“No! Antonio! I’m pregnant! You’re gonna hurt the child!” Adelaide knew Antonio who had gone mad
would torture her as usual. She had surrendered no matter how he tortured her, yet the child would not
be able to endure such torturing! Staring at Adelaide who was still struggling with all her strength, there
was no sympathy in Antonio’s eyes. The rage in his eyes burnt even more fiercely instead and his
action had gone more reckless. He extended his long hand and grabbed her like grabbing a small
chick, tearing her shirt apart at once.
Adelaide suddenly ceased her struggling and said difficultly almost in tears, “Antonio, let’s divorce.”
The man’s movement stopped at once yet with just a moment, he regained his mind. He stared at the
woman below her in slight disbelief. The woman who had chased after him for seven years had actually
wanted to divorce him for another man’s child? “Divorce?” He sneered and got up. He backed up and
supported himself with the study desk behind him, his hand actually trembled a bit. “Sure. If you want to
divorce, then beg me.”
Adelaide had always been stubborn. When she was fond of him back then, she would not comment a
word no matter what he did, and after marrying him for two years, she had not surrendered no matter
how he tortured her. He deemed that he had known her personality very well that she would not beg
him no matter what.
Yet he could not expect that Adelaide had actually risen up slowly and there was a light of hope in her
dead and calm eyes. She grasped the blanket under her and after a moment of shivering, she choked.
“I beg you, please spare my child…” Adelaide knew Antonio was pressurizing her. She was unwilling to
expose her weakness to him when she loved him, now that she did not love him anymore, what should
she be afraid of? That child had come to her when she was desperate of the one person she cared of,
and she had to protect it no matter what.
Antonio was livid. With inexplicable rage, he grabbed a mug from the desk, squeezed it and tossed it
hard towards the side of the bed. “It won’t happen, Adelaide. I won’t let you off that easily.” He looked
ferocious and after finishing, he staggered and turned around, leaving the room. It had been two years
Antonio kept on torturing her. He was always curious to see what it would look like when the utmost
stubborn woman had bowed before him. Now that he had seen that, he realized he was not happy at
all.
Watching him left, Adelaide took a deep breath, as if a load had been taken off her mind. However, at
the same time, she felt an excruciating pain in her heart. To decide not to love a man she had loved for
seven years at last hurt as if her own flesh had been cut. “It’s okay, it’s okay. Mommy’s gonna protect
you…” She covered her tummy and murmured. Yet as she spoke, her tears flowed down without her
control. She jerked the blanket over and covered herself tightly as if to feel secured.
Without knowing how long had passed, she heard some commotions downstairs and walked out of the
room in despondence. As she just reached the end of the staircase, she saw someone who she
refused to see the most.
