No Way Back

No Way Back By Anna Mac Chapter 34

Chapter 34

“Oh h* And how has this person offended my dear little princess, Queen? “From the tone of your voice, he seemed to have offended you very badly.”

On the other end of the line, Andy’s face had frozen.

The person she wanted to sue was quite an important person.

Even Andy had to treat him with due diligence.

In the past, whenever Jane brought up a topic, she had always spoken in a carefree manner. It was as if she was in control of everything.

There was a solid self-confidence in her ability that had been cultivated over time.

As the Darknet’s “Queen,” there were countless hackers who were crazy about her and supported her.

It did not matter even if it were the Fowler Corporation. If Jane made them her target, she would be able to dig up enough dirt on them.

She would dig up so much that the Fowler Corporation would find itself in deep trouble.

That was all Andy knew about Jane’s sock puppet account. “Queen.”

Jane most certainly had more than that single sock puppet.

If she had any other sources of help, they could all combine and fight the Fowler Corporation.

Hehe.

Things would become very interesting to watch.

“I’ll send you the videos first,” Jane said.

“My request is simple. I want Jack Fowler to apologize personally on all major news networks.

“Or else, I’ll never give up!”

Jane sent all the surveillance footage from the cafeteria and videos and pictures taken by the students of the incident earlier to Andy.

When Jane was fiddling with her phone in the cafeteria earlier, she was actually using a hacker app that she had created to hack into all the

students’ phones and the surveillance room through the cafeteria’s Wi-Fi. She then saved all the evidence.

“Phew…” Andy whistled. “With all this evidence, it’s going to be so much easier to settle this matter,” he said.

“Queen, leave this matter to me. I will do a good job.”

Andy wanted to laugh.

This was as good as handing over the victory to Andy on a silver platter.

“I feel more relieved to have you, a first-class lawyer, deal with this personally.

“As for your payment, I’ll transfer it to your account,” Jane said. “Don’t worry.”

Jane smiled.

That was right.

On the surface, Andy was a well-known, first-class lawyer from Crucsia.

No matter how dire the situation was, the moment the case was in Andy’s hands, he would know how to turn the tables around.

Over the years, he built a reputation for being the invincible lawyer.

He was a magician in court.

Many people were willing to pay top dollar to hire Andy to defend them. However, they could not.

Andy’s schedule was filled for the following two years.

It was completely filled.

Nobody would have known that Andy had a side hustle as a broker on the

Darknet.

That extra level of connections and talent were the reasons Andy’s

business was doing so well.

He was doing well enough to launder all of Jane’s income from the Darknet with the click of his finger.

“Payment? I’ve got lots of money, Queen,” Andy said. “I’m not helping you for money.”

“Andy, I know you mean well,” Jane said. “But I’ve received a lot of help from

22:34

you already. I can’t owe you anymore.”

“Queen, if you want to return the favor to me, there’s a simple and direct way,” Andy said.

“You and I have worked together for many years and know each other’s character. Why don’t we meet in person and get to know each other? What do you think?”

Jane was silent.

She closed her eyes.

She had worked with Andy for years, but they had never met face-to-face before.

The reason was very simple.

It was true that they worked well together and were very close.

But what sort of place was the Darknet?

A small careless misstep could easily put her in danger.

Jane was especially cautious in the past because she firmly believed her family was still alive and was determined to find them.

The Darknet was not a place to remain for long. It was more inconceivable to build a relationship with anyone on the Darknet because that might affect her family.

However, the situation was different now.

None of that mattered now.

Jane’s so-called family was now much less important than an important work partner.

“All right,” Jane said. “Let’s find a time to meet up and talk about the lawsuit.”

Andy let out a whistle. He could not hide his smile. “That’s the way to go, Queen. To be honest, when you were silent earlier, my heart was left hanging. I was afraid you’d reject me again like you always do.”

“I finally understand what’s most important to me,” Jane said. “Thank you, Andy.”

Peter slowly opened his eyes.

Madelyn and Anna were by Peter’s bed the entire time. Madelyn was the first to spot her brother waking up and quickly shouted, “Daddy! Mommy! Peter is awake!”

At Madelyn’s shout, many people rushed over to Peter’s bed immediately.

“Peter, how are you?”

“I… Why am I here?”

Peter looked at all the people surrounding him in bewilderment.

Before him were Jack, Anna, Madelyn, Larry, and Dwayne.

Anna recounted what had happened to Peter.

After listening to his mother’s explanation, Peter’s memory slowly came back to him.

He could not help mocking himself.

“Peter,” Madelyn cried, still sobbing. “I was so worried about you. I was so afraid something bad would happen to you. Don’t ever frighten me like this again. Promise?”

Madelyn’s face was streaked with tears. She held Peter’s hand tightly and was biting her lips.

The way she looked was very pitiful to anyone who saw her. The look made others feel sorry for her.

“I’m sorry, Maddie,” Peter said. “I promise I won’t.”

Fac*d with his dearest little sister’s worry, Peter could only smile in return.

For some unknown reason, he tried to avert his eyes.

When Peter looked at Madelyn now, he automatically thought of Jane.

He thought of how deeply he had hurt Jane.

The tears Jane had shed… The despair of being alone… The pain that was a deathly shade of gray…

He also thought of how he had held his sisters to a double standard.

He favored Madelyn but trampled all over Jane.

Peter had an epiphany after this incident.

He realized he could no longer simply ignore Jane.

He also could not show favoritism toward Madelyn like he used to.

Peter had treated Jane cruelly and tormented her. Now that he had realized what he had done, this was destined to be a thorn.

It was a thorn in his heart.

Peter tried to ignore it.

But there were triggers.

When he encountered one of the triggers, he felt the pain.

The pain reminded Peter how he was a despicable sc*m of the earth.

How he had done disg*sting and irreparable things to his sister, who had been missing for 19 years?

Madelyn’s smooth face frowned.

She felt that Peter had changed somehow.

But she could not pinpoint in what way.

Perhaps it was because he had just woken up from a coma and had not yet fully recovered.

“Peter, I know you just woke up and are still weak, but I have something to ask you,” Jack said.

“What in the world did Jane do to you? How did she land you in a coma?” Jack could not resist asking.

He wanted to find something to leverage over Jane.

He swore that he would make Jane pay with her life. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

Jack wanted to see if Jane would still be as haughty as she was when she talked back to him in the cafeteria.

Dwayne gave a cold snort but did not say anything.

He recalled how Jane had brushed off his kindness earlier in the cafeteria and her mocking words.

Dwayne started to get mad simply thinking about it. He was furious.

In his heart, only Madelyn was fit to be his little sister.

Madelyn could never be like Jane. Madelyn would not be so disrespectful

and go against her older brother’s advice and make him angry.

Dwayne was waiting to see when Jane met her end. He wanted to see how she would regret ignoring his kindness.

“Jack!”

Anna looked reproachfully at her husband.

“Peter has just woken up. Why are you asking him about this matter now?”

Anna’s heart was secretly starting to side with Jane.

It might have been from guilt.

After all, at Cloudnine Restaurant, Anna had said some very hurtful words

to Jane.

Anna had not had the chance to apologize yet.

What if it were true that Jane had some conflict with Peter, which in turn caused him to collapse?

Anna was very sure that Jack would go after Jane.

Madelyn looked down and gripped Peter’s hand tightly.

She wished to hear from Peter’s mo*th. She wanted him to say that it was the bit*h Jane who had made him pass out.

Then, her father would be very furious and make sure that Jane got hacked to pieces.

That would help get rid of Madelyn’s greatest obstacle to keeping her glory and securing her position as the Fowler family’s daughter.

Peter had always h*ted Jane and wished for her to drop dead.

Now was the perfect chance. Madelyn was sure her brother would not

pass up on the chance to get rid of Jane.

After all, Jane had just snatched Peter’s honor from him. Peter had to h*te Jane to the core.

Those were the thoughts running through Madelyn’s mind.

“Dad, I’m fine,” Peter said. “Maybe I got too so tired from writing the

research paper that I passed out.”

That was a totally unexpected answer.

Peter’s reply was very calm.

Everyone in the room was dumbstruck.

All of them sank into silence.

Peter’s answer was indeed not what they had expected.

They had assumed that Peter would blame Jane for his current condition.

Yet what was his explanation?

That it was his own health problem.

“That’s, that’s it? Peter, you really didn’t get into a fight with Janie?”

Madelyn was the first one to speak.

She refused to believe that Peter would let such a good opportunity to get rid of Jane pass.

Jane had been Peter’s number one enemy.

“I didn’t get into any fight with Jane,” Peter said. “Maddie, don’t let your imagination run wild.”

Right now, Peter felt very guilty.

He felt guilty toward Jane and h*ted himself.

He was also filled with respect for Jane.

When pursuing his dream, Peter would respect any person who was better

than him.

At the same time, he would burst out with a stronger will to forge ahead for

his dream.

However, it was a pity.

If only Peter and Jane had not burned all their bridges.

Perhaps Peter and Jane could have become very good friends pursuing the

same passion.

They could have exchanged ideas and grown together.

“Peter, while you were unconscious, Mr. Fowler heard that Jane might have something to do with it. He went to see Jane,” Larry said.

“What did you say?” Peter exclaimed, cutting Larry off.
