"Alright, you two. That's enough. It's getting late. Let's all head home now," Lucy said, and the others nodded in agreement.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Koven decided to go to a bar for a drink alone while Matthew and Lucy went back home. Hudson, on the other hand, stayed back at the office for a bit to smoke a cigarette before heading downstairs to walk home.
His mind had been in chaos over the past few days. His uncle had been pressuring him to follow his orders, but he did not want to be under his control.
On his walk back home, he saw a familiar silhouette.
"Chloe?!"
Hudson immediately ran toward the familiar silhouette, shouting, "Chloe! Chloe!"
The woman in a black pencil skirt with flowing hair stopped in her tracks. Chloe turned around after hearing the familiar voice, but when she saw that it was Hudson, she instantly ran away.
"Chloe! Chloe!" Hudson shouted. He recognized her instantly, but seeing her run away made him anxious.
Chloe ran for a while, but Hudson was still chasing after her. Finally, she had no choice but to stop and turn around to face him while panting heavily. Seeing her stop, Hudson quickly ran up to her and stood in front of her.
"Chloe, what's going on? Why are you avoiding me?" Hudson was choked with tears.
Looking up at the sky, she sighed deeply before saying, "I'm begging you, can you just let me go? I've told you before. I don't want to see you, so I hope you'll stay out of my life. What we had is in the past, and I just want to live my own life now. Please give up!"
Hudson felt as if he had been slapped in the face.
"Chloe, can't we start over? I'm sorry for what I did. I just want to be with you. I'll change, I promise."
Her next words cut even deeper.
"Mr. Xender, do you know who you are? I'm just an ordinary person, and you're way out of my league. Don't appear in my life ever again. We have nothing to do with each other anymore, so let's part ways for good!"
Looking into her eyes and hearing these words, Hudson felt his heart being shredded into pieces, but he had no words.
The look in his eyes filled her with disgust. As she turned to leave, Hudson grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace.
After recovering from her shock, Chloe quickly struggled to break free from his arms.
"Hudson, enough! I've told you that I don't want to talk to you anymore. Besides, I have a boyfriend now!" Chloe said coldly, looking him in the eye with no trace of forgiveness.
As harsh as Chloe had been so far, this statement hit Hudson like a sledgehammer.
He never thought Chloe would truly
leave him. Every time he saw couples on the street, he imagined how wonderful it would be if it were him and Chloe. Now that he realized how ungrateful he was in the past, he felt immense guilt for treating her wrongly. He knew that he could never make up for it in this lifetime.
