Chapter 24 Wines Were Excellent
Chapter 24 Wines Were Excellent
Once Lacey arrived at the Carters, no one was home but the servants.
"Old Master Carter had ordered that no other filth was to be brought here except for you. Understand?"
Aunty Mya gave her a sneering glare. Her eyes were full of sarcasm as she gazed at Lacey's
handbag.
"Are you going to frisk me?" Lacey asked indifferently, already guessing what Aunty Mya would do
next.
Surprised, Aunty Mya lifted her brows and replied, "There's nothing I can do about it. I'm just following
orders. Open the bag and show me what's inside!"
Lacey gave a sly grin. "Since it's my father's order, I'd rather not have the bag!"
She flung her bag toward the door of a sudden. Lacey then turned to Aunty Mya and went on to ask,
"Now, which way is my room?"
Aunty Mya was stunned. She hadn't expected Lacey to be that straightforward.
Ms. Lillianna had given her orders to make things difficult for Lacey. She was told to steal her mother's
picture and lose it so Lacey would cry in misery.
However, how was she going to carry out this command now? What on earth was going on?
"I said, which way is my room?" Lacey's voice rang out again.
"It's on the first floor, next door to mine—" Aunty Myra stammered over her words.
Lacey smiled faintly. The first floor, huh?
That was where the servants lived.
What a wonderful father she had!
"I'll take you there!" Aunty Mya took the lead and stepped up to the front. Shortly after, she pushed
open a door. "Old Master Carter stated that the first thing he wants you to do is clean yourself and take
a shower. He didn't want a single louse in the house. Also, you have a closet full of clothes. Although
they're all old clothes worn by Ms. Lillianna, they're all famous brands. Not everyone has the chance to
dress in such lavish clothes!" Aunty Mya said sarcastically.
Ignoring her, Lacey kept a deafening silence as she entered the room and slammed the door shut.
"How arrogant! Let's see how Ms. Lillianna handles you once she returns!" Aunty Mya grunted and
turned to leave.
Meanwhile, Lacey curled up on a small bed as soon as she entered the room.
It was six o'clock in the evening.
The skies in South City tend to darken earlier in the winter.
Still, the Carters have yet to return.
After taking a shower and putting on Lillianna's old clothes, Lacey wandered around the empty living
room.
"Aren't those—" Just then, something caught her eyes.
The Carters' kitchen had a massive wine cabinet with countless pricey bottles stored within.
On the table, too, were several opened bottles of red wine.
Lacey grinned as she stared at the bottles.
Wines were excellent for numbing nerves and aiding sleep.
Although she hadn't eaten much in two days, she didn't feel hungry at all.
Instead, she felt exhausted. She struggled to sleep.
Perhaps a little alcohol could help her with that.
Lacey sat down and poured herself a glass of wine with that idea in mind.
"Hey! You can't drink those! They're very expensive!" Aunty Mya yelled as she dashed over.
"Who do you think you are to order me around!" Lacey exclaimed. Her eyes dimmed and her tone
solemn.
She then downed a glass of wine.
"You, you! Get your hands off those wines!" Lacey stammered, fuming with rage.
She was about to snatch Lacey's goblet away.
Before Aunty Mya knew it, Lacey tossed a bottle of red wine on the ground. "Crunch," it shattered into
pieces.
"How dare you smash Old Master Carter's red wine?" Aunty Mya paused for a moment, then shrieked.
Lacey responded with a snort, "I'm going to smash all the red wine if you keep talking nonsense. I'll let
you bear the brunt of the blame."
Aunty Mya was astonished at this point. Lacey was the most despicable person she'd ever met!
Amid her disbelief, Lacey opened the second bottle of wine. She gripped the bottle's neck and warned,
"Get lost!" As if she'd smash the wine if Aunty Mya didn't compromise.
Aunty Mya moved her lips and was about to curse. However, she held back and instead grunted, "Just
you wait and see! Ms. Lillianna will have you finished as soon as she returns!"
With that said, she left in a huff.
Lacey grinned and poured herself another glass of wine. Again, she took it all in one gulp.
She repeated the process, pouring the wine and then drinking it all in one go.
Three glasses later, she felt woozy already.
"All right, it's time for bed—" Putting down the goblet, Lacey staggered towards the room.
"Okay, okay. Give me a second. I'll be ready soon!" An anxious voice, backed by shouts, rang at that
very moment. "Aunty Mya, Aunty Mya!"
Aunty Mya ran over to open the door. "Ms. Lillianna, you're finally back."
"Hurry up and help me with my stuff!" Lillianna's glossy black hair cascaded over her shoulders. She
had one hand on the phone and the other clutching a large bag. "Hold it for me!"
Maria passed away just a few days ago. To show the public that she was upset by the news, she dyed
her hair black.
Her popularity grew as a result of her actions.
"Ms. Lillianna, I have something to tell you—" Aunty Mya was eager to report what had just happened.
However, Lillianna didn't bother to listen and cut off her sentence. "Aunty Mya, hurry up! I need to
change my clothes right away. Sam's car will arrive shortly to pick me up. Hurry up!" She urged as she
hurried upstairs.
"Oh, okay!" Aunty Mya immediately carried the bags upstairs. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
Meanwhile, inside the small room, Lacey, too, was on the phone.
"What? Oh, okay. I'll head over to the door now—"
Alina had asked her to go outside and get something over the phone. She had delivered it to the door
of the villa.
After hanging up the phone, Lacey put on a coat and walked out dazed.
She could barely stand on her feet.
Her vision blurred.
And fatigue overwhelmed her.
She was stumbling as she walked.
As she approached the gate, a black car came to a halt before her.
"Ms. Carter!" The car window rolled down. The driver mistook Lacey for Lillianna and was quite aback
by how quickly she got dressed.
Lacey rubbed her head and looked at the stranger. She couldn't even keep her balance.
The driver hurriedly opened the door and exited the vehicle. "Ms. Carter, have you been drinking?"
"Where's the stuff?" Lacey shook her head, feeling awful. "Alina—"
She passed out before she could finish her sentence.
"Oh, dear, what's with all the drinking?" The driver caught her before she slumped. He felt astonished.
Immediately, he carried her to the back seat and said, "Ms. Carter, you may rest for a while. I'll take you
to Mr. Garrison right away!"
