Chapter 87 Lexie, Don’t Cry!
Lexie’s cheeks were pinched out of shape.
The pain made her tears well up in her eyes, but Alan didn’t have the slightest intention to pity her, and the force on his hands didn’t decrease at all, “Do you understand?”
Lexie nodded with difficulty, tears sliding down her cheeks and landing on the back of the man’s hand, burning.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“You met with Peter before you were discharged from the hospital? He gave you the bug to put in my car, didn’t he?”
Lexie nodded.
Alan’s hand immediately tightened, almost crushing her face.
Lexie could barely breathe from the pain.
“I keep your grandma safe, and this is how you treat me?”
The man’s eyes were terrifying.
Lexie shook her head desperately, struggling desperately to explain something.
In the struggle, there was a ‘clang’ and the water cup and medicine box on the bed was knocked over, spilling water all over the floor.
Seeing those medicines, Alan’s face changed.
Not knowing what came to mind, he slammed Lexie onto the bed.
The back of Lexie’s head hit the edge of the bed hard, and for a moment her eyes glazed over, almost fainting.
“From the day you married in, you conspired with Peter to get the information he wanted from me, to use the Howard family to support the Mitchell Group, and then when it was done, you backed out.”
[No, I didn’t.]
“No? Then what is this?”
Alan grabbed the pill box and slammed it down on her head, snarling, “What is this?”
Lexie shivered, and was stunned when she managed to read the words on the medicine box.
Wasn’t that the contraceptive she had put in her canvas bag earlier?
When Jack returned the bag to her that day, she hadn’t found it and thought she had lost it, so how could it be here?
“Remember it now? What else do you have to say?”
[I don’t understand what you mean.]
“Don’t you understand? You’re afraid to admit it, aren’t you? Don’t you want to leave the Howard family? Aren’t you already in touch with lawyers?”
Lexie was stunned and looked at him in shock.
“I’m telling you, dream on!”
Alan stood at the edge of the bed and ripped the collar of his shirt open, furious like a wild animal.
“Ah…”
Lexie’s eyes welled up with tears of pain, and her hoarse voice made her throat burn like fire.
Alan tore at her hair fiercely, releasing the anger in his chest with every movement.
“You don’t get to say whether you’re allowed to have children or not!”
“You’ll never leave the Howard family for the rest of your life, unless I get tired of playing.”
“Don’t forget that you are an object, something that was sold to me.”
“You can come and go when you want? Dream on.”
“…”
Struggling to the end, Lexie no longer had any strength, listening to those extremely humiliating words in her ears, she gradually went numb.
It was late at night.
A door slammed with a ‘bang’ and the whole house trembled with it.
Lexie, however, kept her eyes open and there was no longer a trace of consciousness in her body.
The following day.
Kevin asked Marry when he did not see Lexie came down, “Where is my cousin-in-law?”
Marry looked odd as she set the dinner plates, “I guess she’s still asleep.”
Diana rolled her eyes and said contemptuously, “Why do you care about her? She made the commotion last night, I don’t know where she learned these foxy tricks, making me sleep badly in the middle of the night.”
“All right, son, leave it alone and have some porridge.”
Kevin, however, was uneasy and was distracted.
When he had finished eating, he went upstairs and knocked on the door while Diana and Marry were not looking.
“Lexie–”
There was no movement inside the bedroom.
Kevin stood in the doorway for a moment, suddenly had a bad feeling and pressed the door handle directly.
There was a click, the door was unlocked and opened straight away.
“Lexie!”
Seeing the scene in the bedroom, Kevin’s face froze.
Lexie was wrapped in only a thin blanket, huddled at the head of the bed. Seeing Kevin enter, she did not mean to react, her dull eyes make his heart break.
Kevin stood for a while before walking cautiously over to her.
“What’s wrong?”
Lexie’s bare ankles were covered in bruises and her shoulders were bruised and battered.
At the sight of Kevin approaching, she suddenly cringed and jerked backwards.
Kevin was about to reach out and pull her back, but he was shocked by the scene he saw before him.
The sheet was stained with blood, both dried and fresh, apparently freshly shed blood.
“It’s my cousin last night …”
Kevin was too shocked to speak, for a long time, he pulled Lexie, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Hearing the word ‘hospital’, Lexie jerked back to her senses and shook her head desperately.
Kevin’s eyes were red.
“Wait for me.”
He went downstairs as fast as he could, went to get his spare medicine box and came up, ignoring the strange stares from Diana and the maids, and directly locked the door to Lexie’s bedroom.
Diana slammed the door outside, “Kevin, what are you doing? Do you want to make your cousin misunderstand? Hurry up and come out.”
“Yes, Mr. Kevin.”
“Shut up, all of you!” Kevin slammed the door of the room hard.
There was no movement at the door.
Kevin forced himself to hold back his fluctuating emotions and sat down beside the bed with his medicine box.
“Lexie, don’t be afraid, show me your wound.”
Lexie looked at Kevin, his gaze warm, trying desperately to show warmth to ease her mind.
Her nose suddenly turned sour and tears fell from her eyes.
“Don’t cry, Lexie, don’t cry!”
Kevin held her cold hand, obviously to comfort her, but after seeing the bruises all over the place under the blanket, he couldn’t help but turn his back and wipe his tears.
Alan was crazy! How could she treat a woman like this!
Diana and Marry stood outside the door for a long time.
Diana had been pressing against the door to listen to the movement inside, once she heard the cries inside, she immediately panicked, “This fox! It really pissed me off!”
“Madam, don’t worry, something may have happened.”
“They are alone in the room, what will other say about this if word gets out?”
The door suddenly opened from the inside, and Diana stumbled. If Marry hadn’t been quick, she would have run headlong into Kevin’s arms.
Kevin’s face was very grim.
All the words Diana originally wanted to say were also stuck in her throat, and she couldn’t say a single word.
In the thirty years she had raised Kevin, she had never seen this frightening face of her mildest-tempered child.
Marry was also trepidatious, “Mr. Alan, what’s wrong?”
Kevin sulked, “Someone help.”
