My Mute Wife

Chapter 53 You don’t have to look at anyone

Edith laughed, “People are self-interested, and my relationship with you is much better than I have with her, what is she? What is she worthy of comparing with you? Although I don’t know what kind of conflict you have, but as your friend, I’m on your side.”

In a few words, Edith plucked herself from the cause of this incident.

In her eyes, Tina was stupid, letting go of the eldest son of Walsh Group and having to get involved with a driver, wasn’t that a proof that she was stupid?

Sure enough, Tina didn’t suspect anything in the slightest, a face full of gloom.

“What Victor suffered outside, I want this mute to suffer ten times. Just letting her leave the Howard family is too good for her!”

Edith withdrew her gaze, and as she bowed her head, a glint of sinisterness flashed in her eyes, her heart smug.

Nightfall.

After work, Lexie piled into the bathroom as soon as she got back to Howard’s house.

She looked at her red cheek in the mirror and tried to touch it, recoiling in pain.

The injury was obvious, in addition to the redness and swelling, there were several scratches from nails, supposedly cut by the rhinestones on Tina’s nails, which had scabbed over after an afternoon and looked shocking.

She could not go see grandma in this condition.

Thinking of this, Lexie fished out her phone and texted her grandma.

“Grandma, I am busy these days, so I won’t be going over your place in the time being. Take care of yourself and eat on time.”

She soon received a reply from grandma, “So, will you be off on weekend?”

Lexie hesitated for a moment, thinking that her face should be almost well by the weekend, “Yes.”

“Good, come over this weekend and I’ll make you dumplings for dinner.”

Looking at the message, Lexie smiled and replied “Okay”.

The sound of an engine came from downstairs.

Alan was back.

Diana greeted him and went to the dining room, “Alan, you are back, Kevin is also back early today, dinner is ready, wash your hands and we can eat. It’s rare for us to eat together.”

Alan handed the maid the jacket he’d taken off and glanced at the living room first; Kevin was sitting in the sofa, so he glanced upstairs again and asked, “Where’s Lexie?”

“As soon as she got back, she piled into the room.”

“Tell her to come down to dinner.”

Dropping the words, Alan walked straight towards the living room.

Diana glanced at Marry, and despite her reluctance, she could only wave her hand to let her go call Lexie.

As Alan had just sat on the sofa, Marry came downstairs, “Mr. Alan, Mrs. Howard said she’s a bit unwell, so she won’t be eating together, she will sleep first.”

“Why are there so many problems?” Diana rolled her eyes and mocked, “It’s only been a day of work, why is she so tired?”

“Mom,” Kevin gave Diana an unpleasant look and turned his head to ask Marry, “What is wrong with her? I’ll go take a look.”

“No need,” Alan’s voice suddenly rang out, interrupting Kevin’s movement to get up.

Across the coffee table, Kevin met Alan’s cold gaze with a clear warning.

Kevin wanted to say something else, but he was glared at by Diana.

Alan coldly dropped a sentence, “You guys eat first.”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

Looking at Alan’s figure going upstairs, Diana pulled Kevin by the hand and lowered her voice, “What do you want to go?”

“I’ll go and have a look.”

“What? No. Kevin, I’ll tell you one last time, from now on, you are not allowed to meddle in Lexie’s affairs, or don’t blame me for being rude to her.”

The guest bedroom on the second floor.

As Lexie had just turned off the desk lamp and was ready to go to bed, a sharp door opening sound came from behind her.

She jumped in shock and jerked back.

The slender figure stood in the doorway, illuminated by the bright light outside, casting a long shadow that fell in the room and impartially extended right to Lexie’s toes.

She almost reflexively took a step back and looked at Alan in fear.

Looking at the ice bag in Lexie’s hand and the redness on her face, Alan asked, “What happened to your face?”

Before Lexie could return to her senses, Alan had already strode forward and lifted her chin with his hand, his face instantly going grim, “Who did this?”

Lexie pursed her lips.

[No one, I was careless, it was just an accident.]

“You think I’m blind?”

That was clearly the mark of a slap in the face.

Facing Alan’s cold look, Lexie knew she couldn’t hide it, so she could only confess.

[Tina did it.]

This was outside of Alan’s expectations, and a flash of surprise flashed in his eyes.

“You know why?”

Lexie nodded, and then shook her head after a while of thinking.

Her encounter with Tina was just twice, once at the summer resort and once in the underground cellar of the Mitchell family’s winery, she wasn’t sure about for reasons, but she guessed that maybe it had something to do with that incident in the winery.

Alan thought for a moment, linking it to the events of the week, his voice lowered, “Her affair with the driver was told to grandpa, and she was released until today, is it related to this?”

As he spoke, Alan looked at Lexie, his cold, sharp gaze alarming.

The affair between Tina and that driver was found out?

Was that really related?

Lexie’s hand holding the ice pack was cold and numb for a moment, and after a moment of silence, she nodded and honestly confessed, [Earlier in the underground wine cellar of the Mitchell family’s winery, I accidentally saw her with that driver].

Confessing, Lexie carefully gauged Alan’s face and tried to explain, [But I promised her, I didn’t tell anyone.]

“You’re not that stupid,” Alan scowled.

Telling his grandfather about the affair between Tina and the driver wouldn’t do any good for Lexie.

Tina was brainless, thinking that only Lexie knew about those things about her, and only then decided that it was Lexie who had ratted her out.

[Sorry for the trouble again.]

Lexie looked at him uneasily.

Her originally beautiful and innocent face was now swollen, bruises and blood marks strewn miserably, her dark eyes full of constraint and unease, soft like a broken doll.

Alan was suddenly distracted and coldly shouted, “I told you to be peaceful, I didn’t tell you to be weak, did you not understand what I said?”

His unexplained outburst made Lexie freeze.

“As long as you’re still Mrs. Howard, you don’t need to listen to anyone in J City, and Tina is no exception.”

Alan’s face was gloomy, and after dropping those words, he pulled the door open directly and went out, shouting at the stairs, “Kevin, bring the medicine box up here.”

The door to the guest bedroom was open, and as she watched the slender figure outside the door walk away, Lexie didn’t come back to her sense for a long time.

It was probably the first time she had intuited kindness from this man towards herself.

Was he concerned about her?

Lexie frowned, even if he really was caring for her, this wasn’t at all enough of a reason to change her mind about Alan, wasn’t all of this that she was enduring now brought on by him and Peter?
