My Billionaire Wife

Chapter 23

ZOYA’S POV.

I sat down on the seat opposite mine as I anticipated what he wanted to talk about.

He clears his throat and presents a folder with a paper which seemed like a contract and for a moment my eyes widened as fear consumed me.

“So I have come to a conclusion,” he said suddenly. ” I think it would be better for the wedding to be held in two weeks’ time,” he said.

Wedding? “So soon, but I thought…” I said before I was abruptly interrupted.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“Yes, it is better if it is done as quickly as possible. I was telling Abrar here that he could formally come and meet the family this weekend. We will do the formal introduction with the full family of course and then the traditional marriage rite will be completed after” he said, looking excited.

I looked over at Abrar but I could not get a gauge on his reaction. I had no idea how to react to this news.

“Are you not excited?” My father asked.

“Oh! Of course, I am. I just thought it might be a little bit too soon but if you say so” I replied.

“Well all this was supposed to be done before the court wedding but now we have to do this. Your mother is so excited about it she has decided to plan everything herself and I was just telling Abrar here not to worry about the expenses I will manage it all” my father replied.

I looked over at Abrar and then understood why he did not look so excited, well I cannot blame him it was all a lie our relationship wasn’t real anyway.

“You don’t have to go through all that Daddy, we will just do a small wedding and call it a day. ” I said, trying to convince my father not to go all out on spending too much. It was not like my relationship with Abrar was going to last for a long time.

“Nonsense, a big wedding Is only befitting for you darling and that is what we shall have,” he said with a smile.

It broke my heart that a day would come when I would have to disappoint him when I announced the end of Abrar’s and relationship.

“Okay Dad if you say so,” I said. He wanted to go all out. There was nothing I could do to stop him so I just had to go with the flow.

I walked out of my father’s office but I noticed how quiet Abrar still was.

“What is the issue?” I asked him.

“I just feel so guilty, I hate lying and now I feel like I have become so good at it,” he replied.

I know all this was new to Abrar so was it to me. It was not like I was a pro at finding a fake husband and or something. But this was the step i had to take to protect my family’s reputation.

“Well you agreed to eat the pill, you have to go ahead and do just that” I responded and walked away.

Ever since I moved in with Abrar I have not been home neither have I talked to my mother. This was the longest i had gone my entire life without talking to my mom.

I knew she was very angry and disappointed but I never expected her to completely ghost me.

It was a long day, I was thinking of how I was going to have a wedding ceremony for a wedding that was not real and avoiding my ex along with trying not to glare at Nikhat.

Nikhat was all over Abrar, whenever I looked over at his direction he was talking to her which annoyed him.

I am sure she must have heard he is married but she still decides to cling herself to him.

Although it was a fake relationship, at least to everyone knew he was mine and I am going to make sure she also gets the memo.

I dropped the folder I was holding on my desk and walked out of my office with a determined step towards Abrar.

Ever since I resumed work, i have made it a mission not to associate too much with Abrar so as not to create an awkward working environment but it seems like the girls around not understand that Abrar is my husband and I am their boss.

“Miss Zoya” Anas suddenly called, obstructing my view of Avatar and Nikhat as he stood right in front of me.

Just the perfect timing.

“How may I help you, Mr Anas?” I asked with my voice laced with a tinge of annoyance.

“I am down with the Job you assigned to me” he reported. “Good drop a briefing with my secretary,” I said.

I looked over to see that Abrar was staring at me. “And I have to brief you about the London project,” he said.

“Can’t we do it another day, I am quite busy” I said, trying to walk past him.

” My sources told me our client is in town. I felt this was the best opportunity to present him with the offer instead of traveling all the way to China,” he said.

He had a point, I could not deny that, I looked over to where Abrar was once standing to see that both him and Nikhat were nowhere to be found. “Fine let’s have the briefing,” I said as I turned around and walked back to my office.

“Okay that will be all for today,” I said adjoining the meeting with Anas.

“Uhmm, Zoya can I ask you for a favor?” Anas suddenly asked, surprising me.

“Yes you can and it is Miss Zoya to you” I responded

“Oh! Miss Zoya, I wasn’t wondering if you would like to have dinner or lunch with me one of these days, just any day you will be free” he asked, looking nervous as he fidgeted.

“Is it work-related?” I asked. “Uhmm, no it is not, just a get-together for both of us” he replied.

‘I am sorry to disappoint you sir Anas but unless it is work-related I do not have meals with other men. It is getting late and I have to go home and meet my husband, if you would please excuse me” I said, rejecting his offer.

He walked out of his office with his head down and I could not be more proud of myself. What a fool, thinking he has a chance with me again, I will not be that naive and desperate again.

I walked out of my office and noticed some people had signed out for the day and by looking at Abrar’s desk he was also absent.

Maybe he has gone home. I pulled up to the house with plans of just resting up but motic d that Abrar was not still yet home.

It was past ten p. m. but he was still not back and then he walked into the house not too long after, like nothing happened completely ignoring my presence.

“Where were you?” I asked, snapping at him

“Out” he replied.

“What do you mean out? Look at the time. You better start giving me an explanation” I yelled at him.

“I do not owe you any explanation about my life” he responded.

I was so furious at this point, and his rife attitude was not helping matters.

I walked closer to him, standing only a few meters away from him “Is it Nikhat, are you coming back this late because of her? So you spent the night with her isn’t not?” I snapped.

“No, I did not and it is none of my business. I saw you with the new worker today as well being close and lovey-dovey. What was his name again? Oh yes, Anas” he said.

“He is nothing” I yelled in response. “And she is nothing as well” he replied.

“Gosh, you are so annoying” I whispered, turning around to walk back into my room when I tripped, before I fell on the ground Abrar caught me but he also tripped as well and he quickly turned me mid-air making me fall on his chest while he fell on the ground.

A silent hiss left his mouth and I looked up worried that he might be seriously hurt.

“Are you okay?” I asked, seriously concerned about his well-being.

“Yes, I am” he replied, that was when I realized that my face was a tad bit too close to his, it was just a few inches away.

I could feel his breath on my lips as he stared at me with his enchanting eyes which made me relax further into his arms.

His fingers slowly tucked the air on my face behind my ears. The tension between us was so heavy it felt almost too suffocating.

With my chest on his his palm on my face and my eyes roaming his face before settling down on his succulent lips. It was clear all I wanted to do right now was kiss him.

He slowly raises his head, his eyes focused on my lips, with his arm wrapped around my waist to keep me steady.

This was going to happen, I was about to kiss Abrar.
