Mr. Thompson

CHAPTER 6

Chapter 6 Financial Siege

After a good night’s sleep, Jessie woke up around midday, realising that Chase hadn’t sent any assassins. Jessie was recognised as part of the Thompson family. Being Chase’s wife, her sudden demise would surely stain Chase and the Thompsons’ reputation, even without an official wedding or public announcement. Hence, he couldn’t kill her. The Thompsons wouldn’t dispatch anyone to eliminate her, and they might even secretly shield her. Only if she took her own life would it not implicate the Thompsons. But Jessie wouldn’t stoop to that. She knew her suicide would only please Linda, that vile woman. Just imagining her funeral, with Chase leading Linda, faking grief as they casually tossed a white flower on her body, made Jessie sick. Normally, Jessie enjoyed sleeping in and would often wake up around noon. During those times, Chase would lovingly prepare lunch and feed her personally. But now, she didn’t receive such treatment, and she was too lazy to cook for herself. She opted to order takeout instead. However, she discovered her credit card had been disabled. She had been using Chase’s secondary card, which had a 1.5 million credit limit. It couldn’t be frozen unless there were financial issues with the Thompsons. Does this mean Chase personally ordered to disable my card, trying to force me into agreeing to a divorce? Silently, Jessie switched to another card which was solely hers and wasn’t under Chase’s control. Jessie was the daughter of the Summers family, a prominent name in Anceburg City. Though not as mighty as the Thompsons, they owned their company and managed hundreds of millions in assets. As the sole daughter, Jessie had been treated like a princess since childhood, never worrying about money. Despite the Summers family going bankrupt months ago and her father, Peter, being in the ICU after an accident, Jessie still had considerable funds. Chase’s attempt to control her finances to force her into a settlement was just wishful thinking! After lunch, Jessie felt weak, so she stayed home to recuperate. If it weren’t for these dreadful events, she would have forgotten she had given birth less than two days ago. For two weeks, Jessie hadn’t stepped out of the house. It wasn’t until the takeout containers piled up that she tidied up and disposed of the trash. During this period, Chase hadn’t contacted her, not even a call. It seemed like they were both trying to outlast each other. Only when John reminded her to pay Peter’s medical bills did she leave the villa and reconnect with society. Peter had been comatose since the accident, relying on life support in the ICU. The expenses could bankrupt an average family. Although Jessie had money, she was spending without income. With Peter’s uncertain recovery, the expenses were daunting. After settling the bills, Jessie started worrying about her finances. She needed a job. Regarding work, Jessie wasn’t concerned. As a top graduate from Fallbrook University’s medical program, no hospital would reject her. She confided in John, who eagerly promised to recommend her to his hospital. That evening, Jessie got a call from John. “Sorry, Jessie, but the hospital declined. Not just mine, but others I reached out to as well … ” Jessie sighed heavily. The Thompson family! Chase! Is he really forcing me into a corner?C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
