Mated In Chaos: The Broken Mate

Chapter 37

Elara

Zuriel cradled me in his arms and placed a lingering kiss on my head. My heart swelled, and tears welled in my eyes. I wanted more, so much more from him. However, he said that he would never love me. I needed to accept that, but it was so hard. Not when one minute he was hot and cold another

‘Would you like a drink?’ he asks.

‘No,’ I answer. I’m very calm in his arms. I don’t want to leave. We stay like this a while longer. My stomach growls, and gently, he puts me to sit on the leather seat.

‘I’ll ask the chef to prepare you a snack,’ he says, going to another part of the boat. I sigh and relax. I close my eyes momentarily, enjoying the wind against my naked skin.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

We spent two nights on the boat. We slept and had sex half of the time. I thought by now, Zuriel would be open to me touching him, but no. He always bound my hands with handcuffs to the headboard when I touch him. It was exciting. However, I wondered why he hated to be touched so much.

We watched the sunrise and sunset every day. He did his water activities. Zuriel enjoyed scuba diving while I waited on the deck for him.

We were watching the sunrise together. It was so lovely. I sighed leaned my head against his arms, and placed a hand on his shoulder. He was startled but didn’t move away from me. Nevertheless, his body was rigid.

‘Zuriel,’ I call gently,

‘Hmm,’ his voice is a raspy whisper.

‘Breath in and out,’ I instruct. He follows my instructions. He breathes in and out once more. His body relaxes, but his heartbeat is racing.

‘Just calm your heart and mind. It is as far as I will go. I won’t touch you anywhere else, okay?’ my voice was gentle, as though calming a wounded animal.

He slowly settles completely. A smile appears on my lips. I wanted to ask him why he doesn’t like to be touched, but my wolf thought it wasn’t best at the moment.

In a few hours, we go back to the resort after spending two days at sea. Zuriel looks refreshed, and maybe it was just me, but he radiates happiness.

I leave the car once the driver turns off the engine. Zuriel is concluding his phone call. Rob sees me and immediately comes to me. He had been mulling the grass near the pool area.

‘Hey,’ he waves with a dazzling smile. My eyes fall on his bare chest. I must admit. He is well-built.

‘Hi, Rob. I didn’t know you were a landscaper. Working 99 jobs, huh,’ I smile. He returns my smile,

‘Just helping out. Did you enjoy yourself?’ he asks.

‘It was wonderful. I had a good- ‘ I stop talking when I feel a sharp pain in my chest. I grab onto his hand. My wolf growls.

‘Connor!’

‘Elara, are you alright?’ I hear Connor’s distant voice. The pain is growing in my chest. I feel dizzy.

‘Why the fuck are you touching my wife?’ Zuriel snarls. I can hear the rage he holds within him. He doesn’t want any man touching me.

Rob cups my face, and this time, Zuriel had enough. He shoves poor Rob from me with incredible force that he flies a few feet from us and hits his body against the hard floor with a thud. A gasp escapes my lips. Rob is human, and such an impact is deadly. I try running to him, but Zuriel holds my hand,

‘You told me nothing is going on between you, then why was he about to kiss you!’ he snaps. His domance radiates in waves.

Tears well in my eyes at his roughness. He has probably killed a human being, yet all he worries about is my relationship with him. How cruel is he?

I was angry at him. I slap him against the cheek, and he looks startled.

‘Don’t fucking touch me, Zuriel!’ I growl. I yank my arm from him and push him with my strength, but he doesn’t bulge. The fog from his eyes is clear. Ignoring the pain, I rush to Rob and get on my knees. For a moment, I can’t feel a heartbeat, and his eyes are shut.

‘Rob,’ I croak. He suddenly opens his eyes with a gasp, and grunts in pain. His eyes are red.

‘Damn, werewolves are so fucking strong,’ Rob groans, closing his eyes again. Did he know about werewolves?

A few workers rush to help Rob. They take him to a check-up at the clinic.

I intended to go with them, but they insisted I stay. I turned to Zuriel, glaring at him. I shook my head and went past him. He follows after me. Once I see the elevator, I bolt towards it and close it before he can reach in. I’m crying for good now. I feel so emotional.

I get off the ride and go straight to the suite. To my surprise, I find Zuriel there. He is waiting for me at the entrance. I push past him.

‘Elara,’ he calls. I go to the bathroom, stripping fully naked. I need a cold shower. Zuriel barges in and grasps my arm just as I’m about to enter the shower. I glare at him, but his eyes soften. I didn’t expect that as I’m almost knocked out by the gentleness in his gaze. We are both silent.

‘I’m very possessive of you,’ he confesses.

My heart races in my chest. However, I’m still angry at him for what happened. He didn’t believe me when I said nothing was going on between Rob and me.

‘Do you love me?’ the words escape my lips. He slowly let my arm go. His lips move, but no words escape his lips.

‘Your behavior is unhinged. What you did was so wrong and unacceptable. You could have killed him,’ I point out. Zuriel is watching me as I go on and on about his behavior.

I was so upset that the pain I felt from the betrayal completely faded without being aware.

‘I’m trying,’ he whispers at last, ‘ That guy has it in for me,’

I sigh and cross my arms against my chest,

‘Why would he have it in for you?’ I questioned in a hard tone.

‘Because I fucked his woman,’ he says, unbothered.

My eyes widen, and my lips part at what he says. Zuriel shows no emotion on his face. I remember the conversation Rob and I had about his fiancé. Was Zuriel the CEO? I feel a pang of anger course through me and something else: jealousy.
