Marrying my high school bully

An escape

My lips trembled, tremors ran down my spine as I watched him drive recklessly, like he was under the influence of alcohol. We were slowly moving from the streets to the highway and if I didn’t do anything right now, it would be hard for me to escape this evil man.

I racked my brain, thinking of how to get the car to stop while ensuring that my fear wasn’t evident on my face. For the first time in my life, I wanted to be strong even though I might not survive it.

An idea flashed like lightning into my mind and I grasped it with all my strength. All I needed was the right time to swing into action or my efforts would be for nothing.

I slowly slipped my fingers into my little bag and brought out a needle. A ghost of a smile touched my lips as I remembered the lame reason I kept a needle in my bag.

It was to prick annoying bastards that didn’t understand what boundaries are all about. It was so sad that this prick driving me off would be the first person to get the taste of the needle.

I twirled the needle with my fingers, acting like a killer with a target while my inside had melted with fear. My palms were clammy with sweat. Bile rose through my throat.

A phone rang out loudly, since mine was off it had to be his.

A space had been made for me, I should have swung into action, but I needed to know who he was speaking with so I waited patiently.

His speed had reduced which was a good sign because I was so ready to jump out of the car as soon as I got him destabilized.

“Hello, boss. She’s here with me.” He rumbled, his voice connoting nothing short of violence and death.

I didn’t have the time to listen to the remaining things he had to say as I lurched at him, jabbing his neck with the needle. He bobbed his head backwards, his phone slipped off his fingers and a painful groan exited his dark lips.

Just a single stab wouldn’t be strong enough to give me the weakening effect I aimed for, so I reached for the last place I never planned to touch and dragged his balls.

He grabbed my hair tightly, but I was running on adrenaline, his painful grip didn’t sway me from squeezing both balls like my life depended on it. The pervert sent a strong punch to my cheek and I felt my premolar at the receiving end of his blow.

I retaliated by dragging his testicle with all my might until a popping sound followed and he released my hair immediately. He began to whimper like a baby, writhing on his driver’s seat.

Seeing how weak he was, I resorted to the final attack I had on him. I grabbed his neck which was already bleeding and pushed his head against the steering wheel.

I searched for the button to unlock the doors and clicked on it. The back door opened and I rushed out without thinking

Fear was my motivation and the people I had waiting for me were my inspiration to make sure that I escaped. The highway had few cars running on it and the urge to stop any car increased with each step, but remembering my ordeal with the evil man, I had to shove the idea aside.

My feet were beginning to hurt, my body almost giving out but my mind stayed on one man.

Dexter.

I just wanted to return to him and have him hold me. I wanted him to assure me that he would keep me safe no matter what. I knew that no man could ensure my safety all the time, but hearing him say it gave me a different kind of hope.

My breath came in my pants, a ragged rhythm of air moving in and out of my lungs. It was almost painful because the cold breeze had formed a hedge around me, my top flailing with the wind.

I bumped into a tiny stone and when I looked down, I saw a red liquid flowing out, yet I didn’t stop. Just like my stepfather, he could still be chasing me and if I allowed myself to be caught, I’d be dead meat.

A familiar car sped past me, giving me a deja vu of my cabbie’s vehicle. It was the same thing, except that it could be a different driver.

The car which had run past me reversed, and halted abruptly. My heart flew to my chest as I increased my pace, screaming at the top of my lungs.

Maybe it was another of my attacker’s using the same cab to distract me. I didn’t even know that my speed had reduced until I felt warm hands snake around my waist.

The grip was firm to stop me from making any move, but it wasn’t in any way painful. I kicked, flailed my arms but this man felt too big to be affected by my mere struggle.

“Shhhhh.” The voice was oddly familiar. “It’s your cab driver.” He whispered and slowly spun me around so I could have a good look at him.

My eyes, which had become blurry with tears, thoroughly scrutinised him. It was him, I realised and threw my arms around him.

Tears streamed down my face, but I didn’t stop it. Neither did he. It felt good to have someone who allowed you to pour out your emotions without judgment.

“You’re safe now. I’ll take you to the boss now.”

I jerked away from him impulsively as panic gradually seeped through my skin. “Which boss?” My voice had cracked due to my incessant screams earlier and it was shaky, but I’d rather run again than allow him to come close.

He didn’t need to respond as his phone rang. He received the call and placed it on hands-free.

“She’s here with me, boss. Can you speak to her yourself?” He sighed in impatience, raking through his hair.

His voice resonated almost immediately and calmness ensued. Peace returned to my heart as I heard the voice that kept me running from my Captor.

“Baby?” He rasped. “I’m so sorry for everything that happened to you. Please, let Drake bring you home. You aren’t safe there.” His tone held a note of urgency.

With how he urged me on, I knew that he knew some things I didn’t know. “Dexter?”

“Just trust me. Nothing will happen to you as long as I’m here. Let Drake bring you home, I’ll be waiting.” He pleaded, his gentle voice breaking every wall of uncertainty I’d held onto.

He had called me. The man I couldn’t stop loving would keep me safe just as I wished.

Feeling relaxed though in pain, I agreed. “Let’s not keep your boss waiting.”
