Chapter 131 A Woman Who Cared About Me
Jericho gripped the armrests of his wheelchair as he saw the woman's presence.
"Why did you bring her?"
Noah looked indifferent as he said, "Weren't you the one who said you'd clear up the misunderstanding
as soon as possible?"
"I'm referring to you!" Jericho shouted as he glared at him.
With a faint smile on his lips, Noah looked at Stella and gestured with his hands.
Mia walked slowly towards him. The closer they were, the clearer the past that flashed through her
mind.
There was a cold expression on Jericho's face. He turned his back slightly. But when he leaned forward
to hold the wheelchair, the necklace hidden under his hospital gown was exposed.
When she saw the necklace, Mia's heart skipped a beat. She has one just like it around her neck.
Actually, it wasn't a necklace - it was just an ordinary chain with a ring on it.
The ring wasn't valuable and the necklace was made of cheap material. It had been worn for so long This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
that it was already rusty.
Mia remembered that this was a gift she had shamelessly given to Jericho. When she was sixteen
years old, she saved her breakfast money for three days and picked out this pair of rings from the little
shop opposite the school.
Although she was a girl who had begun to fall in love, the boy she loved was still indifferent. It seemed
that the only way he could express his love was by bullying her even more.
Although Mia was almost in tears at his mischievousness, she stubbornly gave him one of the rings.
"What does it mean?" The boy blushed as he asked, even though he knew the meaning behind it.
"It means that... you can only be nice to me from now on, and don't bully me!"
"Hah, it's just a broken iron ring... It's not even made of silver!"
"Jericho, do you still want it?"
"I didn't say no, it's better than having nothing!"
"Well... Mia!" Although he was on cloud nine deep in his heart, he still acted harsh. "This ring is just too
simple! If I make a lot of money in the future, I'll buy you a real diamond ring!"
As her fondest memory ended, Mia slowly touched her neck and held the ring tightly in her hand.
Indeed, he was now in a higher position and earning more money than before.
But, she wondered, did he remember all the promises he had made?
Jericho turned his back to her, clenched his hands and bit his lip.
"Jericho." After a long pause, Mia uttered in a low voice.
"I know you don't want to see me. Since you have decided to break off our contact in the future, let's
just end this- once and for all".
Stella was startled when she heard her explanation. She rushed over and grabbed her arms. "Mia,
what are you talking about?"
"Stella, I understand your good intentions." Mia took a deep breath and forced a smile as she
continued, "But it seems that Mr. Hart... He obviously doesn't want to talk to me anymore."
"No, Mia! He's actually..."
"He should give me my thing back!"
At this point, Jericho was stunned by her words. His heart tightened painfully, as if blood were pouring
out of it.
He knew that she was referring to the ring around his neck.
Little did she know the hardships he had endured over the past ten years just to protect that ring?
When he was imprisoned and feeling completely hopeless in his life, this ring became his mental pillar
of strength to carry on.
Life in prison was difficult - he often came into conflict with other prisoners. Even when he was badly
beaten, he protected the ring dearly.
Everyone knew how much he treasured that ring and felt that he had lost his mind. After all, how could
an ordinary person risk his life just to protect a twenty-dollar ring?
Jericho unconsciously protected the ring as he slowly turned his back to look at Mia.
"I'm sorry, but it's mine."
"I bought it back then," Mia replied, looking indifferent.
"True, you bought it. But... you gave it to me!" Jericho's eyes widened as he clutched the ring tightly.
"Since you gave it to me, it's mine now. Why do you want it back?"
"I gave it to the man who is willing to treat me well all his life! Not you!" Mia glared at him bitterly.
She hated him for pretending to be indifferent, hated him for not explaining things to her, hated him for
choosing the stupidest way to express his love.
Within seconds, Jericho's heart tightened - his wound began to hurt at that moment.
Having been under the scorching sun for too long, he was somehow exhausted. His face grew pale
and cold sweat trickled down his cheeks.
Noticing this, Noah immediately stepped forward to check on him. It was probably because his wound
had been opened.
Without hesitation, Stella hurriedly ran out to get a nurse.
Mia crouched worriedly in front of Jericho, holding his hand. "Jer... Jericho. How do you feel now? Are
the wounds deep?"
In fact, being stabbed was nothing new to Jericho. He had been wounded by gunshots before, much
more serious than this.
What hurt him most were Mia's cold words and the way she looked at him.
He didn't know how to defend himself or gain her forgiveness.
It was a total uncertainty for him if he could ever get their relationship back to where it was.
"Jericho!" Noticing his silence, Mia thought his condition was critical and burst into tears.
On the other hand, Stella finally managed to find a nurse. They rushed Jericho into the ward and gave
him some basic treatment. Once the bleeding was under control, there was no more serious problem.
Mia had stayed by his side throughout the whole process. Her eyes never left him as she held his
hand.
Noticing this, Noah and Stella looked at each other in silence and smiled.
"Darling," Stella whispered. "I don't think Mia will be leaving today. I'll get her something to eat. Then
we'll go home together."
Noah nodded his head, agreeing to her suggestion.
After Stella left, the nurse asked Mia quietly, "Are you the patient's family?"
Mia was stunned by her words. Before she could even react, Jericho, who was lying on the bed,
immediately nodded his head.
"Miss, you should pay more attention to his condition." The nurse frowned as she lectured, "How could
you put him out in the hot sun when he's injured? He will sweat easily and when he does, the sweat will
soak into his wound and infect it. It will slow down his recovery!"
"Ah, I get it..." Mia nodded dazedly.
"Mia..." Jericho tugged at her arms as he pouted in a weak tone, "This is all thanks to your best friend's
hubby pushing me into the scorching sun."
Noah's eyes widened as he heard his false statement.
For a split second he had clearly sensed the plan Jericho had in mind!
"So it was you!" Mia turned and crossed her arms over her chest as she shouted, "What are you doing?
Why did you bring him out in this hot weather? I bet you're doing it on purpose!"
"Let's just forget about it, Mia." Jericho forced a smile, "He's doing it for my own good too, he says it will
help replenish my calcium..."
"What calcium?! Don't you have any common sense!" Mia raised her voice immediately as she
shouted, "Liam, I know that you two have feuded in the past. But things have been over for so long and
Jericho had stopped giving you trouble except for the two times before, right?"
"How could you torture him when he's injured!"
Now Noah was completely speechless at her accusation.
"I even thought you had turned over a new leaf after the way you treated Stella!" Mia rolled her eyes as
she commented, "I didn't realise you are still the narrow-minded and ruthless person!"
Jericho, noticing Noah's darkened expression, tried his best to hold back his laughter as he continued
to act pathetic in front of Mia.
Mia turned her back to take a closer look at Jericho, only to notice that he had two blisters on his lips.
"How did you get them?"
"Oh, the blisters." Jericho explained weakly, "It's... it's just that he was taking care of me the other day
and accidentally burned my lips."
"Liam!" Mia shot a deadly glare at him, as if she wanted to get into a fight with him.
"Mia, let's not haggle over this matter! It doesn't hurt. Well, he's already tried his best in taking good
care of me. So, we need to be thankful with about that..."
"You fool! Why are you still defending him when your lips are all burned?" Mia turned her head and
glared at Noah, "Mr. Anderson, I won't bother you to take care of him in the future! My God, your
actions are truly unbelievable!"
Noah's face went completely dark and he took several deep breaths to regain his composure.
He narrowed his eyes, throwing dead glares at Jericho. Jericho, however, smiled in provocation as he
met his gaze.
How are you feeling, Mr. Noah Martinez? I had a woman who cared about me too!
