Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Marriage Of Convenience

Marissa went back into the private room and changed back to her former wear and thanked the ladies for the makeover.

She later joined Alexander outside.

Anderson walked towards them and smiled.

“Well…. I guess you guys are officially married for three months…. so enjoy it while it lasts.” he smiled at them and walked away waving his hand behind him.

There was silence for a few moments before Marissa broke the silence.

“So…. what’s next…?”

“We…. return back to the house and act like we are married I guess.” he said, clearly showing how uncomfortable he was.

“Okay….” Marissa nodded.

“And Um…. we are traveling next Monday for the business trip I told you about.” he informed her, trying to change the awkwardness that was in their midst.

“Oh… alright…what time is it on Monday?” she asked.

“By evening… I have some stuff to take care of before we go later that day.” he said.

“Where are we going exactly?” she asked.

Alexander looked at Marissa and said, “We’re going to Switzerland for a business meeting. It’s a beautiful place with amazing views. Be ready to leave in the evening, and we’ll sort out everything together.”

Marissa nodded, understanding that this fake marriage might bring more surprises in the future.

She was willing to face whatever challenges lay ahead, all for her brother’s treatment.

They headed back to the house, feeling a bit uneasy and unsure about what awaited them in Switzerland.

While inside the car, they said absolutely nothing as both of them were deeply lost in their thoughts.

As they sat in the car, Marissa couldn’t help but think about how her life had taken an unexpected turn.

She pondered the seriousness of her situation, the fake marriage, her brother’s illness, and her desire to help him.

She wondered if the path she had chosen was the right one and if her commitment to this unusual partnership was worth it.

Deep down, she hoped that everything would work out, and her brother’s health would improve.

Alexander, on the other hand, couldn’t ignore the peculiar sensation he had felt when they shared that staged kiss during the photoshoot.

He had been in a real relationship with Jessie, and he cared about her deeply. But the fleeting moment with Marissa had stirred emotions he hadn’t experienced in a while.

He questioned whether it was the circumstances or something deeper that was causing these feelings. Nevertheless, he pushed these thoughts aside, reminding himself that it was all part of the act.

They both sat in silence, each lost in their respective thoughts, as the car continued its journey back to their shared residence.

Upon their return to the shared apartment, Marissa and Alexander found themselves standing in the slightly dark apartment, the weight of the day’s events heavy in the air.

The tension in the room was high, and it was hard to ignore the sparks of emotion that seemed to flow between them.

Marissa hesitated, looking into Alexander’s eyes, a hint of uncertainty flickering in her gaze.

“Well, it’s been quite a day, hasn’t it?”

Alexander nodded, his voice softer than usual.

“Yes, it has. But I appreciate your help with everything, Marissa.”

A moment of silence hung between them, neither quite knowing how to proceed.

The atmosphere felt charged with unspoken words and unexplored feelings.

Marissa’s heart raced, and she couldn’t help but wonder if her initial plan to remain detached was slipping away.

Alexander took a step closer, his eyes searching hers.

“You know, Marissa, I never thought I’d find myself in a situation like this. But you’ve been an unexpected source of support.”

Marissa felt her cheeks flush, and she took a small step toward him.

“I… I feel the same way, Alexander. It’s been a unique experience, and I appreciate your understanding.”

The distance between them closed further, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.

Alexander’s hand gently cupped Marissa’s cheek, his thumb brushing her skin. The warmth of his touch sent shivers down her spine.

“Marissa,” he whispered, his voice barely more than a breath. “I don’t know what the future holds, but I want you to know that I’m grateful for your presence in my life.”

Marissa’s heart pounded in her chest, and she couldn’t deny the magnetic pull between them.

Her fingers lightly grazed his as she replied, “Alexander, I feel the same way. You’ve shown a side of yourself I didn’t expect.”

Realizing what they were about to do, Marissa and Alexander shared a knowing look.

They both took a small step back, deciding to change the topic and part ways for the night.

Alexander cleared his throat, his tone slightly more composed.

“We’ve had quite a day, and I should probably get some rest. We have a busy day tomorrow with preparations for our upcoming trip.”

Marissa nodded, relieved that they had managed to divert the situation.

“You’re right. I’ll also need to get ready. Goodnight, Alexander.”

“Goodnight, Marissa,” he replied with a hint of a smile before turning to head to his room.NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.

Marissa watched him go, her heart still racing from the almost-kiss. She knew that their journey was far from over, and it was best to maintain a professional facade for the time being.

She headed to her own room, thoughts of the day’s events swirling in her mind as she prepared for another day of their fake marriage.

Alexander slumped on his bed, his mind still racing from the kiss at the photoshoot and the almost-kiss just now.

“What was that?” he muttered to himself.

“It’s just a business deal, Alexander, nothing more. You’re in love with Jessie. Focus on that.”

Just as he tried to convince himself, a voice in his head chimed in. “Yeah, but Jessie’s not here, and Marissa’s right there.”

He got up and removed his shirt.

Alexander shook his head, as if trying to shake away his thoughts.

“No, no, no. I’m not falling for Marissa. It’s just a marriage of convenience.”

His inner voice seemed determined to tease him.
