Chapter 27: Fight
Chapter 27: Fight
The force of my slap sent Gail sprawling onto the sofa.
Gail's friend jumped up from her seat, saying that she would give us some space and hurried off.
I ignored her and glared at Gail. "What did you say to Grandma?!"
"You little b*tch!"
Gail cursed at me and got up from the sofa, wanting to return the favour.
I quickly grabbed her wrist and gave her two more slaps.
"Ah!"
Gail shrieked like a banshee and broke free of my grasp, then shoved me.
She was surprisingly strong. I was caught by surprise and fell to the floor.
Gail pinned me to the ground and started pulling on my hair and slapping me. At the same time, she
cursed at me.
"You b*tch, how dare you show up in front of me? I'm going to kill you, you little b*tch!"
She landed a punch on my temple and my head spun. My sight went black for a moment as my ears
buzzed.
Everyone in the cafe gathered around us when they saw us fighting. They whispered among
themselves while pointing at us.
After having a moment to gather my senses, I grabbed Gail's hair and tried to smack her head on the
floor.
She kicked and punched me. We were both caught up in our brawl.
I could hear the spectators talking about us.
Gail seemed to feel ashamed and wanted to get up. There was no way I'd let her off the hook so easily,
so I put more strength into my attacks.
"Queena!"
I had no idea how long we'd been fighting, but May's scream suddenly rang out next to me.
I held on to Gail's arm, refusing to let her go. "Come and help me!"
"Alright!" May quickly joined the fight.
...
Gail noticed that something was amiss and tried to pry my hand away. "Let me go, you lunatic!"
However, how could she possibly win against the two of us?
Soon, Gail was being beaten to a pulp. She was losing the strength to fight back.
I yanked at Gail's arm. "What did you say to Grandma?!"
May panted as she held on to Gail's other arm.
Gail struggled for a moment or two, but she couldn't break free. She spat at me. "Bah! You're just like
that old hag, you little b*tch!"
I asked May, "Did you drive here?"
She nodded.
I shot her a look and we dragged Gail towards the door.
We'd already been fighting for a while. If we continued to stay here, someone would probably call the
police.
If so, we'd be in a lot of trouble.
The onlookers dispersed since the fun was over. May and I walked out of the cafe and shoved Gail into
the car.
Now that we were alone, Gail started to panic. She shrieked, "What... what are you guys up to?!"
I gritted my teeth, still holding on to her. "What exactly did you say to my grandmother?!"
I had to squeeze each word out.
If it was lawful, I would have killed Gail long ago.
She still had some fight left in her. I kicked her in the stomach and she bent over in pain.
"Alright, I'll tell you."
Seeing that there was no hope for her, she finally surrendered. "I told the old... your grandmother that
you ruined Phoebe's wedding."
I didn't believe her. "What else?"
Grandma had never accepted Gail and Phoebe, and she couldn't care less about the wedding. Gail
had to have said something else to make Grandma so mad!
"I also said..." Gail's voice became a lot meeker. "You brought a pregnant woman with you, so you had
to be defiled as well. Birds of a feather flock together, so maybe you were pregnant with someone's
b*stard child too."
"How dare you!"
I glared at her, my face white with rage.
May cursed at Gail as well. "How can you be so evil? It's no wonder that you're so ugly on the outside
when you have such a horrendous heart!"
"What nonsense..." Gail retorted subconsciously.
When she looked up and got a good look at May's face, she yelled in shock, "It's you?!"
Her voice was filled with bone-chilling hatred.
She recognised May!
I stood at attention and pulled May back.
May was still unaware of the situation and continued to scold Gail. "It's no wonder your daughter's love
life isn't smooth sailing, either. People like you..."
Gail pounced from the car with her hands curled into claws, reaching for May's neck.
I pulled May back to dodge her and Gail landed on the ground. She staggered to her feet, wanting to
try again when her expression suddenly morphed into one of joy. She shrieked, "Bell, Bell! Hurry!"
I turned back and followed her line of sight.
Bell was rounding a corner not too far away from here and was heading towards us.
"Bell, hurry up!" Gail wailed. "Your daughter's going to kill me!"
Bell seemed to hear someone calling him. He stopped and looked around.
He was a strong man and on Gail's side. May and I would be on the losing end of this.
"Let's go!"
I shook Gail off and pulled May into the car, starting the car quickly.
The engine roared as we sped off.
Through the rearview mirror, I saw that Bell had walked up to Gail. As we sped away, their figures
faded from sight.
I didn't know what would happen to them next.
May sat next to me, looking at me apprehensively. After a while, she hesitantly asked, "You... what are
you going to do?"
"Me?"
I mumbled, bringing the car to a halt.
The hatred and bitterness in my heart overwhelmed me and stabbed me painfully.
Bell was Grandma's son. How could he allow Gail to say something like that to her and still be on her
side?
My hatred for the Jones family grew deeper.
May asked carefully, "Do you... do you still want to get revenge on the Jones family?"
Did I?
Grandma wasn't in the best of health. If something were to happen and if she couldn't take it... what
should I do?
"I don't know."
After a long silence, I answered softly.
May sighed and took out a first aid kit from the glovebox. "Let me attend to your wounds first."
It was only then that I noticed the burning pain on my face.
I rolled down the window and looked at myself in the mirror. I saw a dishevelled woman with a bruised
face looking back at me.

front of Bell.
May pulled out a few cotton swabs and cleaned my wounds before applying some medication.
It hurt like hell when my wounds came into contact with the ointment, but I gritted my teeth and
remained silent throughout the whole process.
"How are you going to go to work tomorrow, looking like this?"
May asked glumly when she was done.
"Work? How can I think about that at a time like this?"
I laughed bitterly, the sorrow in my voice obvious.
May threw the cotton swabs into the rubbish bin. She was out of ideas as well. "What should we do,
then?"
I forced myself to calm down. After some thought, I said, "I need to go to the hospital to see Grandma."
"Is that a good idea?" May frowned. "The Jones family is definitely going to be with her. There's already
so much bad blood between you and them. Is it going to be okay?"
I shook my head. "I don't know."
"Then... are you still going to go?"
"Even if they want to kill me, I have to go." I grabbed May's hand. "Don't you understand, May? I have
to go see Grandma..."
