Love My Friends with Benefits

Chapter 15: Break Them up at All Costs

Chapter 15: Break Them up at All Costs

Suddenly, a door swung open. Mr. Chow waved at me enthusiastically and I walked over to him.

He shut the door once we were in his office and asked bluntly, "Queena, what's going on with you and

that Austin Smith?"

"Nothing. A friend introduced him to me, and we've only met once," I answered truthfully.

Mr. Chow was a middle-aged man, close to forty years old. He was schooled in the ways of the world.

"Then why did he specifically ask for you to handle the negotiations for this project? He seems to be a

high-up, so you should really give it your all!" Mr. Chow shot me a meaningful look.

"I can't just sell myself off to close a business, can I?"

Despite my young age, I was already a sales director. There were rumors everywhere that I had gotten

it by sleeping my way up the ladder.

However, I knew that they were dead wrong. I could tell them loud and clear that I had gotten to where I

was because of my hard work and abilities.

"Let's not make things sound so ominous. I didn't ask you to go against your principles. You just need

to make sure you toe the line, you know?" Mr. Chow said shrewdly.

"So I suppose you mean that I should learn how to put on a show and get what I need?"

"Queena, you're a smart girl. All you need is a little nudging." Mr. Chow beamed at my words.

"We'll see how it goes!" I said noncommittally.

Although I knew that Austin was probably somewhat interested in me, my main focus at the moment

was still getting revenge on the Jones family and ruining Leonard and Phoebe's wedding. It was not the

right time to get emotionally involved.

"You can't just brush this aside, Queena. Austin's company wants to invest in an online project and Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

they're interested in working with us. Our sales for the remainder of the year depends on this. If you

can close this deal, you'll be in my chair in no time."

Mr. Chow knew that I was a career-oriented woman. He was using a promotion to persuade me.

I could only outwardly agree with him to think things through. To tell the truth, I did not really care.

After chatting with Mr. Chow for a little while longer, I left the company and went to the supermarket to

buy some daily necessities before heading home.

When I got home, I could not help thinking about how I would ruin Phoebe and Leonard's wedding.

After all, it was only a week away.

I did not know how to deal with it on my own, so I called May and asked her to brainstorm with me.

Half an hour later, May arrived at my place. The first thing she did was to ask me about Austin.

"Queena, just tell me whether you're interested or not. Austin seems to be taking this seriously."

"I know, but you know that I have some unresolved matters at hand. Anyway, he's not my type."

"What? Are you still hung up on Leonard? Austin's a pretty good catch, you know, and he's serious

about you. Why do you have to be so stuck on one guy?" May was trying to get me to see the light

again.

"May, you know how I am. I probably would've forgotten about him with time if he hadn't shown up at

the Jones family as Phoebe's fiancé. The moment I found out about that, it changed everything."

"Man, yet another ill-fated relationship..." May sighed and shook her head helplessly.
