Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 660: Extremely High Surgical Risks

Brandon's smile froze on his face as the bowl in his hand crashed to the floor with a clattering sound. This noise drew everyone's attention. "Brandon, you've actually broken Kiki and Mimi's bowl, you're done for, your wallet is definitely not going to survive this!" someone exclaimed. "Brandon, what were you thinking? You can't even wash dishes properly, and you insisted on trying, only to mess it up!" another chided.

"Oh dear, Kiki and Mimi aren't mad. I'll buy you new ones, and have your Uncle Brandon pay for them!" Brandon tried to appear calm, squeezing out a weak smile and playfully addressing Kiki and Mimi, "Sorry, Kiki and Mimi, Uncle Brandon's hands are all cut up, don't you feel sorry for him?"

Isaac immediately took the two children away, "Kiki and Mimi, when you look for boyfriends, don't choose someone like him."

Jack and Gavin also hurriedly left, finding the scene too embarrassing to watch. Once everyone had left, Natalie took out a bottle of medicinal powder and sprinkled it on Brandon's cuts, which quietly began to heal.

"Brandon, don't be so surprised. If it weren't for Tina, there wouldn't even be a two percent chance," Natalie smiled at Brandon.

"Don't tell dad, I don't want him to worry. Just say I went to see Tina's dad and won't be back for a long time, okay?"

Brandon fought back tears, his eyes reddening as he struggled not to let them fall. Even with Tina and Natalie together, the odds were still only two percent.

"Alina, can't we just not do it?"

Brandon struggled one last time.

"No, we have to," Natalie affirmed, leaving no room for further discussion. This was something that could not be stopped.

In the yard, Ian and Tina were engrossed in a tense game of chess, neither willing to yield. Just as the game was about to conclude, Ian suddenly asked, "Tina, what does your mother want to do?"

Tina's hand trembled slightly, a smile curling at her lips, "Go out to eat, shop, and watch a movie."

Ian tapped her head, "She's my daughter, she can't hide it from me!" Tina could no longer control herself, dropping a chess piece onto the board where it wobbled before settling.

"My mom, she's going to undertake an experiment that might restore memories, but it might also..." Ian exhaled silently, his deep breath dissipating into the air, his aged voice following, "I knew it. She's been so chatty tonight, making all these arrangements, she must be up to something, isn't she? And she doesn't plan on telling me, does she?"

Tina bit her lower lip, "Yes, she doesn't want you to worry."

Ian chuckled, his laughter tinged with sorrow, "Tina, tell me the truth, what are the chances of success?"

Tina clenched her fists, the words almost squeezed through her teeth, "One percent."

In Tina's eyes, the experiment only had a one percent chance. ST-1 was extremely potent and had easily repaired Lily Ward's failing organs. Yet, ST-1 appeared gentle on the surface, a contradiction that Tina couldn't understand. Now, an unknown procedure involving this medicine was to be injected into Natalie, along with a brain repair surgery. If not for her direct involvement, even that one percent chance would be non-existent. And that one percent was only for the success of the brain surgery itself. As for ST-1, Tina had no confidence at all.All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

Ian nodded silently, his eyes slightly moist.

"Alright, I understand. Tina, could you promise me one thing?"

Tina looked up into Ian's reddened eyes.

"What is it?"

"Don't tell your mother that I already know about this. Let's pretend I'm oblivious, so she can go to the surgery without any worries."

Ian knew his daughter appeared carefree, but her thoughts were heavier than anyone else's. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been giving so many instructions tonight. She was aware that she might never wake up again.

Thus, she wanted to leave quietly without making a fuss. And so, he couldn't let his beloved daughter feel burdened. He would act as if he knew nothing, allowing his treasure to forge her own path.

Otherwise, even at the final moment before surgery, his Alina wouldn't be at peace. Moreover, since it was his little granddaughter undergoing surgery, he definitely couldn't stress her out. This child had endured too much from a young age. Now that she had finally come home, he couldn't let her suffer any more pain.

Ian slowly stood up, looking at the decided outcome of their chess game.

"You've lost today. Next time, let your mom help you win."

A tear fell onto the chessboard from Tina's eyes as she stared at the interwoven black and white pieces, unable to let go.

She understood that neither Ian nor Natalie wanted to put too much pressure on her. They preferred to keep things hidden rather than confront them. Tina understood their intentions.

The Brookes family home finally returned to silence, occasionally filled with the sound of deep sleep, yet it wasn't noisy.

During the night, Natalie silently left her room and got into Jared's car.

"Let's go, we should get back and get some sleep."

Jared responded and started the car, driving away from the Brookes family.

At that moment, Brandon was sitting on the wall of the courtyard, watching the three of them leave. He clasped his hands silently, murmuring to the moon, "I'd like to make a wish for my sister to return safely." After speaking, Brandon opened his eyes.

"I haven't made a wish in eight hundred years. If it doesn't come true, I'm holding you accountable!"

In the YQ laboratory.

Wraith had already prepared everything, cleaning the operating table thoroughly. This was a very important event for him.

He was finally going to witness Spectre in surgery! Such a complex operation was a rarity in a century.

How could he not be excited? He hadn't slept all night, staying wide-eyed in the operating room until dawn.

Wraith lingered at the doorway, like a statue gazing out to sea, until he finally saw Tina and Natalie walking down, followed by the always stoic Jared.

"Master, Tina, long time no see, huh? You must be exhausted. Come, let me help you with your things!" Wraith approached obsequiously, taking the bag from Tina's hands, his eyes gleaming as he looked at her. Tina gave him a brief glance.

"Only I can be in the operating room."

Wraith's face fell immediately.

"What? How can such an important surgery have only you in it? Are you joking?"

"It's true," Natalie added.

"The procedure is very strict, no one else can be present. Tina needs complete focus, and someone must monitor my physical condition from outside. It has to be you."

Disappointed, Wraith slumped down onto a chair. All his expectations dashed!
