Chapter 63: Is She Worth Us Fighting With Each Other?
Chapter 63: Is She Worth Us Fighting With Each Other?
It wasn't like he was stupid either. It was clear from Chow's reactions these days that he indeed felt
something for Vivian.
However, it wasn't until today that he realised Chow's feelings for Vivian were so deep-seated.
Chow himself probably wasn't even aware of how deep his feelings were, let alone Vivian.
...
Raylan frowned as he looked at his best friend. The slight in his eyes gradually disappeared.
Instead, he spoke to him in a grave, sincere voice. "Chow, take a good look at yourself right now. Are
you sure that this possessiveness of yours is caused by your hatred for her?"
Chow hadn't expected Raylan to face him with this kind of attitude instead of refuting him.
It felt like he was trying to burn down a lake. No matter how much gasoline he used, the water just kept
absorbing all the fire, and he was unable to show the full extent of his wrath.
His gaze darkened.
For a very brief moment, Chow found himself wanting to agree with and follow Raylan's line of thought.
However, he found himself panicking almost immediately, making him push away all thoughts on that
matter.
"I don't understand what you're talking about. Just stay away from her in the future. I will tell my
servants not to let you in anymore if I'm not home." NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
In any case, Raylan's attitude managed to dampen the fire that had been threatening to combust
between the both of them.
Chow released Raylan after he was done talking.
Looking at the current tense situation, Chow didn't feel like continuing the exchange between them
both.
Before Chow turned to walk away, he still commented in a rather disdainful voice. "Is that woman really
worth the both of us fighting with each other? I never thought that she'd still be capable of seducing you
while under my watch."
Raylan suppressed the anger in his chest and whipped around. "She is not that kind of woman and she
has never seduced me. Chow, don't you think that you're being too judgemental? This isn't fair to her.
She's just an eighteen-year-old girl after all."
Chow sneered and challenged Raylan's gaze. "Didn't you know that the b*tch seduced Dylan Howard
when she was only sixteen years old?"
He didn't even need to say her name out loud for Raylan to know whom he was referring to.
Raylan was at a loss for words. He sighed helplessly. "Actually, I just wanted to let you know that Vivian
—"
He wanted to tell Chow that Vivian was behaving rather out of character recently and that he should
keep an eye on her, but before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted rudely. "That's enough.
I don't want to listen to anything else you have to say about her. This is the last time I'm going to
tolerate you getting close to Vivian. Don't blame me if I do anything rash to you the next time this
happens again."
These words were spoken in a very light manner.
But the fierceness in his eyes made others believe that he meant every single word he said.
He wasn't going to tolerate anyone getting close to that woman, even if she was "worthless" in his
eyes.
...
Chow glared once more at Raylan before walking off in the direction where Celine had disappeared to.
Raylan let out a huge sigh as he watched Chow's retreating figure.
He really didn't know how long it would take Chow to finally realise his own feelings for Vivian. Raylan
had had no intention of stealing Vivian away from Chow in the first place.
He had just been provoking Chow to make him come to that realisation by himself a little quicker.
Still, why was it that he felt so helpless whenever he thought of Vivian?
Could he really withdraw himself from everything and watch quietly from the sidelines?
"Dr. Gordon, what are you still doing here? Did your dinner date cancel on you?" A girl's voice suddenly
interrupted Raylan's thoughts, snapping him back to reality.
After Raylan came back to his senses, he realised that the little nurse from before had already changed
into her everyday clothes and was walking over towards him.
He quickly put on his usual smile and nodded slightly at her. "I just saw someone I knew and we
chatted for a bit. I'm going back now. See you tomorrow."
"See you," she replied rather longingly and reluctantly.
Unfortunately for her, Raylan didn't even notice how she was feeling.
He turned around and closed his eyes gradually.
For some reason, the scene of Vivian stammering and stuttering with him and the sight of the stranger
on the motorcycle just didn't sit well with him. He kept thinking about them all afternoon.
There was something amiss with Vivian.
In fact, he had been repeatedly trying to tell Chow about her, but he kept getting interrupted each time.
He had wanted to tell Chow to go home and see what was up with Vivian.
However, given the current situation, even if he had really told Chow about it, he wouldn't be focusing
on what he had to say.
Raylan was sure that Chow would accuse him of obsessing over Vivian instead.
To add to that, he knew that he shouldn't even mention the man on the motorcycle to Chow.
Otherwise, with how sensitive Chow was, Vivian would definitely have to suffer unnecessarily for that.
When he thought of this, Raylan couldn't help chuckling out loud.
He never thought that he would actually use 'sensitive' to describe Chow.
Still, it was rather shocking how possessive Chow was of everything that was related to Vivian.
Since it was going to be like this, he thought it was better if he went to have a look for himself.
Otherwise, Raylan was going to be on pins and needles all night long.
"Miss Celine, you've been recovering very well lately. Why are you suddenly feeling unwell?" This came
from Dr. Emanuel Hughes, Raylan's superior and chief physician who always gave Raylan a hard time.
It was just that Dr. Hughes was no longer his haughty self anymore.
He didn't lower himself to the point of grovelling, however, but it was obvious that his attitude was a lot
better when he was with Celine.
Still, he couldn't hide the suspicion in his eyes.
Celine's eyes flashed. No matter how well she hid it from Chow, there was no way she could continue
acting calm and composed with the doctor who knew her like the back of his hand.
She looked around to check if the coast was clear. The nurses who helped her into the ward had left in
an orderly manner, probably to prepare for her check-up later.
The only people left in the ward were Celine and Dr. Hughes.
Celine fluttered her lashes and then smiled sweetly at Dr. Hughes. She then reached into her handbag
and took out a thick envelope.
It was easy to imagine what was contained in the envelope.
"Please, Dr. Hughes, you know how stressful it is when I'm with someone as perfect as Chow," Celine
said, "And you know what happens to the body when it's under too much stress. What's more, I'm still
suffering from the side effects of my old injuries." Celine then started rubbing herself on the doctor's
arm.
Whether intentionally or not, Celine even started rubbing her chest against Dr. Hughes's arm.
Dr. Hughes looked at the envelope in Celine's hand and looked rather hesitant. "Miss Celine, if Mr.
Howard finds out, I'm not going to be held responsible for this."
Celine rolled her eyes at him. "He won't find out if we don't tell him. There's no one else here."
Celine's eyes turned rather seductive just then as she closed the distance between herself and the
doctor. "Come on, Dr. Hughes, do you really want to see me get ditched by Chow? We've known each
other for such a long time. You have to keep on helping me."
Celine gently put her hand on Dr. Hughes's back.
That feathery touch of her hand seemed to put Dr. Hughes in a trance as he obediently took the
envelope from her and held it tightly in his hands.
"Dr. Hughes, you've seen how well Chow treats me. If you keep helping me out, I'll continue being good
to you." Celine then let her fingertips dance across the back of Dr. Hughes's hands.
The flighty little touches here and there seemed unintentional and innocent, but they still made one's
mind wander.
...
Naturally, it hadn't been easy for Dr. Hughes to get the title of Chief Physician in Gordon Hospital.
However, he was well-known for being playful and flirty with his patients.
How could he not give in to someone who was as pretty and tempting as Celine?
Dr. Hughes's fingers curled as his lips pulled upwards into a smile. "Miss Celine, if I help you out, you're
not going to turn around and bite me in the back, are you?"
As he said this, he grabbed Celine's pale wrists with his hand, fully implying something else.
Celine suppressed the disgust in her heart, raised her head, and fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Dr.
Hughes, did you think that I was someone who would stab you in the back? I'm going to have to rely on
you in the future. If we can have a good working relationship with each other, I'll satisfy you however
you want."
If she had brushed off her earlier touches as unintentional before, then Celine was full-on flirting with
Dr. Hughes with her seductive tone and actions now.
Dr. Hughes was rather surprised and excited when he saw Celine like this. "If it wasn't for today, I'd
never have known that Celine was the kind to lower herself to actually talk to someone like me," he
thought to himself.
In fact, Dr. Hughes would not even have had the chance to be the chief physician of Gordon
Hospital had it not been for Celine's hospitalisation three years ago.
Both Celine and Chow had been hospitalised after being seriously injured. Back then, Dr. Hughes
never thought that he would even get anywhere close to the successor of the Howard family.
However, at that time, no one else had bothered giving Celine much attention. It was Dr. Hughes who
grabbed hold of the opportunity to be Celine's doctor, operated on her for nearly 72 hours, and pulled
her back from the brink of death.
The other doctors and nurses hadn't expected that Chow would demand Ethan to wheel him into
Celine's ward to see her as soon as he woke up from his coma.
As Celine's attending doctor, Dr. Hughes was immediately highly regarded in the hospital.
Naturally, his subsequent promotion was only a matter of time.
One could say that Dr. Hughes was Celine's life saviour. From another point of view, Celine also played
a crucial part in helping Dr. Hughes rise up the ranks at Gordon Hospital.
After Celine woke up from her coma, Chow had always been taking care of her, even making her his
girlfriend and fiancée.
In Dr. Hughes's eyes, Celine was a gentle, soft-spoken, and classy lady he could only look at from afar,
the future madam of the Howard family.
No matter how flirtatious he'd always been with his patients, he had never dared to lay a finger on
Celine.
However, he never thought that Celine would be the one to make the first move on him like this.
How could he not be shocked by such a situation?
Celine gritted her teeth and suppressed the disgust she felt when she saw Dr. Hughes starting to look
full of himself. She smiled at him again. "Everyone has a dark side to them, Dr. Hughes. You and I are
no exception to it. I really need you to help me this time. As long as you help me claim my rightful place
next to Chow, you'll be more than just a chief physician in this hospital. After all, you're the only one
who knows my darkest little secret. Won't you help me, doctor?"
Celine's hand came up around Dr. Hughes's neck as she gently helped him adjust the collar of his
coat.
