Chapter 949 Phone Call With Austin (Part One)
Chapter 949 Phone Call With Austin (Part One)
In the CEO's office of XS Hospital, Violet couldn't wait anymore. She sat next to Greg, nagging him in a
low voice, to go home.
But pretending to ignore her, Greg remained reading document. In the real sense, he was listening
carefully.
Feeling somewhat frustrated, Violet said, more firmly, "Greg, leave work now. We need to go to my
grandma's place. Because if we don't arrive earlier, we'll miss a meal, and I don't want to eat out. On
top of that, I'm also starving as we speak." With growing restlessness, she spoke what was on her mind
because, apparently, Greg wasn't listening. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Finally, Greg said, "All right, all right. Five more minutes. I have to handle these papers. And after that, I
don't need to come here in the afternoon."
Violet exclaimed, "Really?" She was quite surprised.
Greg replied, "Yes, just five more minutes."
Staring at her watch, Violet began to count. "Great. I'll see by the watch and give you five minutes only.
I'm counting now," she said.
Still engrossed with the document, Greg didn't even look at her. Only a slight smile formed at the
corners of his lips. 'This woman is still naughty, as ever, ' he thought.
Five minutes later, Greg promptly closed the documents and then, when Violet didn't look at him, he
reached out, pulled her into his arms and kissed her lips at once.
On instinct, Violet wanted to say something, but under his embrace and intense kissing, all she could
mumble was a soft groan.
There was no chance she'd resist, so Greg went on until he thought he'd had enough to let her go.
When he began, Violet tried to resist for a moment, but after she realized that Greg wouldn't relent, she
simply surrendered.
When he finally let her go, Violet's mind went blank. She was swept away by his affection and the
energy he put into it. "What are you doing?" she asked after a moment. "You dare kiss me like that
without my permission. Aren't you afraid I could report that as an attempted rape?"
"This is a punishment for your endless nagging just a few minutes back," Greg replied with a light
touch. Then he stood up, went to the hanger and took his jacket to brace for the cold outside.
"Fine, Greg, once we're out of this place, I'll report you for attempted rape. Then I'll wait and see if
Lawrence gets wind of it and if he'll not haul your ass over hot coals for harassing his sister."
With a mischievous smile, Greg's lips curled as he replied, "Well, Lawrence is on my side now, so you'd
better not rely on him if you have anything against me." Just having Violet around made him feel like he
was on top of the world. She completed him in ways that words could not express.
Unwilling to back down, Violet continued, "Lawrence is my brother, and I can surely count on him for
any time."
For a moment, Greg stared at Violet and changed the subject, "Are we going to your uncle's home or
not? I hope you do not plan to sit there like twiddling your fingers all day, like there's nothing else we
could do."
Reluctantly, Violet stood up at that moment, got her bag and together they walked out of the office.
When they got in the car, Violet sat in the passenger seat, ignored Greg and called her brother.
"Hello, Violet." Lawrence answered from the other end of line.
"Hey Lawrence, could you go to our uncle's place right now?" said Violet almost like a command.
The bossy kind of attitude she showed when talking to Lawrence didn't go down so well with Greg.
Involuntarily, he shook his head, unable to help but wonder if, in the future, Violet would want to control
him as well. 'What would be our salvation, if one day she succeeds in caging both Lawrence and me
under her control?' he thought to himself.
"Have you visited our uncle, already?" Lawrence asked.
"No. But we're on the way there. Try to speed up and get there ahead of us, just in case there's any
place you can help with the arrangements," she replied.
"Okay, okay. I know," said Lawrence.
After he hung up, he put the cell phone down, switched to the office desktop phone on his table, and
summoned his assistant to the office for instructions on the work schedule for the afternoon. Then he
quickly left.
In Wilson's villa, all people were sitting in the luxury couches around the living room. They all smiled
and even Lawrence, who had always been cold, showed up in high spirits.
"Come over, Violet. Sit next to me." Elsa called, extending her hand to signal Violet to the chair beside
her.
Politely, Violet obeyed, took the seat and leaned her back against her grandma.
With a smile, Elsa looked at her granddaughter, excited to see her again. "My sweet granddaughter,
you've grown into a beautiful young lady," she said softly.
Blushing at the attention, Violet sat quietly as Cherry feigned a protest, saying, "Mum, don't spoil her.
From a young age, she used to badger Jackson, wanting to know who was more beautiful between her
and me. She's always been narcissistic."
A little surprised, Selina turned to Jackson and asked, "Is that so?"
But before her dad could open his mouth, Violet replied, "My father certainly said that I was the fairest
of all."
At once, Jacob and Wilson all laughed.
"I think Violet is the most beautiful one in Greg's heart, but in her father's mind, I think it's only her
mum. That's fair, I think," Elsa said with a smile.
Everyone burst into laughter once more. "Grandpa, you're right," Lawrence agreed.
But again, Violet cut in, trying to muffle Lawrence. "Shut up. Lawrence, you can't say a word from now
on," she quickly said.
Lawrence suddenly thought of Austin, so he asked, "Well, Violet, you have always been in contact with
Austin. Where is he now?"
"I don't know. Maybe I can call him and check where he is now," she replied.
At that thought, everyone's face lit with excitement. It had been a long time before anyone else apart
from Violet heard from Austin.
"Are you going to call him right away," Cherry quickly said. "I haven't talked with him for quite a long
time. I'd be glad to hear his voice."
